Beyond that, Udon did not share any additional details. There is currently no artwork, release date or story synopsis. For now, the big takeaway is that Mega Man Legends is finally getting the comic treatment and the work that went into Legends Timelines #1 was not a one and done thing.
We’ll share more details as they become available! (Thank you, Matthew Low for the tip!)

i really hope its something new instead of retelling legends 1 or 2.
ReplyDeleteSame, legends doesn't need a plot retread. The series has a strong cast I think most of us just want more adventures with these characters.
DeleteOr change the title to "Megaman Legends 3 once again announced'. I'm here for the games. That's what most people want who are MM fans. I think most of us aren't here for comics and manga.
ReplyDeleteMy younger self would vehemently disagree with that, Gary Daniel. I was into the Classic & X series through my two older brothers and once I understood the appeal of Pokemon through the anime in high school, I threw myself into playing Battle Network's combat system as it evolved and learning how to endure Zero series punishing levels through my college years. That happened mainly because they (my brothers) were into Mega Man, but as I mentioned in previous blog post, there were times when we didn't have or play all the games, specifically missing out on all on the gameboy until Xtreme 1 & 2, passed on Classic series's 4-6, and not owning X2 & X3 until after my brother bought X4 on the PC.
DeleteI bring this up to show that we would gobble up anything Megaman related, be it on Captain N or even the Ruby Spears cartoon. The Dreamwave comics I missed out on due to both not knowing it existed until after the company had gone under and that I had the previously mentioned games of Xtreme, Battle Network, and Zero series to keep me occupied.
Now as an adult, I've gotten semi-work with my dad selling comics at various fairs and markets throughout my home city, among them being Archie's Sonic & Megaman runs, and I had the privilege of introducing the younger generations to the game series through these comics and explaining to them why there were two different series of Sonic the Hedgehog.
Well for me, I never touched Battle Network (I like main timeline MM games with similar platformer gameplay), or things like MM soccer or racing I did not touch either. Never played the gameboy games, but I played MM1 - 11, X1 - X8, MMZ - Z4, ZX and ZXA, and Legends 1 and 2 and Misadventures of Tron Bonne long ago and some again from emulators or the Steam collection. I'm happy MML3 was never released on the 3DS. If it was, I would just use an emulator, but I like that these days, it might be multi-platform and made for the big screen like MM11 was, else a hybrid system. Something as big as a Legends 3 needs to be made for the big screen.
DeleteThe main thing for me is games. Without games, MM is not really anything. But I admit MM Ruby Spears was an interesting cartoon back in the 90s when I saw some of it. These days, there is a channel here:

and here: https://www.youtube.com/@VelvetVibesOrchestra
I like listening to and watching. One person is making some short anime AI episodes and music of what is supposed to be based on the manga (I never read MMX manga though but I know it is quite different to the games, same for the ZX manga) and the other is someone making orchestra music of games including the MMX series. I subscribed to those 2 channels this year. Seems the announcement of MM12 has spurred on MM youtube content by fans this year. Very good.
Still, I do want an X9, ZX3, and Legends 3, but I'm happy to see more Classic games too. I'm just happy that a MM12 is coming, and maybe, just maybe this time they will follow through with it being the beginning of revitalizing the series.
But I will say Archie comics of MM, though not canon (neither is the manga though), seem interesting. Like with the evil energy character being called Trio. Also Shadow Man being from space (may or may not be canon). Or a Wily scorpion machine in the so-called badlands in a cave that MM era bots could not defeat, so it was shut down, but MMX reploids rediscovered and could destroy. Also Sigma getting revived by both Wily and Eggman and a few new bodies was interesting; I even put it as one of my Facebook backgrounds.
DeleteHappy to see our guy David Oxford getting to shine.
ReplyDeleteGotta be a dream come true for LBD.
