Review: Luminasta Mega Man Figure

Outside of video games, Mega Man has taken on plenty of physical forms over the years. We’ve covered many of them here on Rockman Corner — from model kits to action figures, the blue guy has done it all. 

Today, we’re looking at something a little different: a prize figure. SEGA’s Luminasta line has taken on the Blue Bomber… but how did it turn out?

Strike a pose

SEGA's Luminasta is a line of "prize figures", unarticulated statues that can be won in various arcade crane games and are often sold in shops for a reasonable price for those unable to play. Mega Man here is no exception. He's made from a soft PVC material, so it's very sturdy and won't explode if he decides to shelf-dive. Thankfully, the included stand should make it pretty difficult for this one to fall over. 

Out of the package, Mega Man comes in three parts: the upper body, the lower body, and a stand. If you use the Double Gear System on your sense & skill, assembly should take about ten seconds or so.

Details, details!

Luminasta Mega Man is represented in his Mega Man 11 design, holding the iconic pose from the main key art used for the game's cover. As someone who really enjoys the Mega Man 11 design, this makes me very happy. I'm also happy to report that all the details seem to be here and accounted for; all of the new panel lines on his body are present, as well as those dark "rectangles". This is really just taking that art piece and being able to see it from any angle, and I think that's pretty neat. Mine had some very minor scuffs, but under normal lighting and at a normal viewing distance, they are practically imperceptible. 

This figure turned out to be a lot taller than I had expected, around 7.5" or 19cm. He isn't a giant, but compared to the Kotobukiya and Jada lines, he towers above! Because of the size, this would make a really good centerpiece to your collection.

Dare to compare!

Overall, I would say that this is a wonderful figure that makes an excellent addition to your collection. While quite large, the price is very reasonable at less than 30 USD. The look of this one is completely on-point, so there is no need to worry about any weird design quirks that are sometimes seen in other Mega Man figures. With the upcoming Mega Man Dual Override once again updating Mega Man's design, the Luminasta Mega Man figure is a perfect send-off to the Mega Man 11 design.
