Tomorrow morning, Wednesday, January 14 at 9am PT, Udon Entertainment will open pre-orders for Mega Man X #1. Issue #0 hits stores the same day, and it acts as a prelude to this new run. Issue #1 is where the five-issue story arc officially begins.
You may have already seen the different covers for Mega Man X #1, but there’s also another one to add to the mix: an Udon Store-exclusive variant illustrated by Atomic Marshmallow, spotlighting Pallette and Layer. Even cooler, it pairs with Atomic Marshmallow’s cover for issue #0 — place them side-by-side and they form a connected collage. And with that in mind, you can probably guess who will be featured in their issue #2 variant.
Mega Man X #1 is expected to arrive in-stores February 18th.
At this rate, we’ll have Roll Caskett and Tron on a cover before X1 is finished.

ReplyDeleteI'm confused about the numbering. Can anyone explain? Megaman X TIMELINES was numbered #1 and it was about Chill Penguin. But then they approved a standalone Megaman X story and it was numbered #0 because the story came before the Timeline's Chill Penguin. But now, the following issue of the standalone Megaman X story is numbered #1? again? Shouldn't it have jumped to #2? Shouldn't the first issue of this story have been numbered #1 instead of #0 if it was NOT a Timeline's title? Is this new #1 going to retell Chill Penguin or is it going to follow it up? I don't know, I'm a bit lost, I'm not a big comic books guy, so maybe I'm not seeing something. Cheers!

DeleteOfficial reading order is Ongoing #0, MMX Timelines #1, Ongoing #1.
Ongoing #1 focuses on X and Zero going after Storm Eagle.
Did anyone even GET their issue #0? My shop didn't get any in. Note it's still up for "pre-order" on their website.
ReplyDeleteI'm about one more irritation away from dropping ALL of Udon's books like a bad habbit. This is beyond silly. They need to get their shit together.
I got a little more info from my local comic shop... Take this with a grain of salt though.
DeleteSupposedly, Udon has had so many issues they were dropped by several distributors before ending up with Lunar.
When they did not get the book, my shop was told they didn't "qualify" to get the book. Which really sucks. So even though I and others had the book on our pull list, we lost out because of distribution nonsense.
With that little nugget of information... I am not confident in this book at all...

DeleteI was able to get issue 0, ZX, and Legends comics the day they released at my local shop. Delays aside, I've been able to get these comics fairly easily, but the shops around here only order 1 or 2 extra copies for their shelves.
DeleteTherein lies the rub: MM is such a niche IP that my local shops aren't confident in selling many of these to people who just walk in. This is why I'm always nervous about Udon quietly cancelling MM stuff. Thankfully I chatted up with one of the owners who said as long as I take them off his hands he'll be happy to keep ordering em.
I can only go by what I was told... I am not sure I believe it all myself and I can't tell the guy how to run his store.
DeleteBut, while they did get the other Timelines issues... That is the story on issue #0. Either the store is confused, Lunar is confused, Udon is confused, the ordering software is confused, or I just suffer from themiddleofnowhereitis.
Regardless, I have been going back and forth on ordering the book, but I just can't convince myself to do it. I'll tell you one thing... This puts a whole new perspective on why they are using Zoop...
