Mega Man creator Akira Kitamura and Mega Man 3 composer Harumi Fujita have reunited for the first time since their Capcom days for Fujita’s debut solo album, Rockmama. Set to release this July, the album features 14 brand-new tracks inspired by some of Fujita’s favorite games, including Zelda, Mario Kart, Splatoon, Undertale, and of course, Mega Man. Kitamura provided the album’s cover art, drawing inspiration from Fujita’s viral TikTok video where she composed a "new" Mega Man-style track for her son.
The opening track, “Blue Pulse,” is a clear homage to Mega Man—so faithful to the original sound, it could easily pass as an unreleased stage theme. Give it a listen here!
Rockmama is due out in July, with pre-orders available now from Black Screen Records.
Pretty neat, almost sounds like the arrangement of what she might have contributed to Mega Man 10. Interested in that David Wise collab too.
ReplyDeleteInteresting.
ReplyDeleteDang. Lady's come a long way since Strider, Gargoyle's Quest, and Rescue Rangers. ("Zone J", booiii~!). "Blue Pulse" sounds like it could be a lost Network Transmission track, and "Emergency Override" sounds like something from Ragnarök Online.
ReplyDeleteI might have to support this "Rockmama". She's no Bunbun, but she knows her stuff!
Sad she only got a "special thanks" for composing Needleman and Geminiman's stage themes…
