Mega Man X DiVE Offline - Unused Bosses in Credits, Dev Team Wanted Playable Prometheus

Mega Man X DiVE Offline launched just yesterday, and players wasted no time diving into the small, but fresh content introduced in this edition. Among the highlights are a brand-new music track, a new ending sequence, and even a delightful surprise in the form of two unused bosses making an unexpected appearance during the closing credits.

Find all the details after the break!

In the end credits animation, players can see RiCO running through the Highway Stage meeting all the bosses from the game along the way. However, what truly takes the spotlight is the surprise appearance of two unused bosses: Eregion, who originally served as the Opening Stage boss in Mega Man X4, and Violen, one of the notorious X-Hunters from Mega Man X2. In contrast to NebulaJoy's accidental leak of Incentas concept art, the intentional reveal of these two discarded bosses was a deliberate nod to the players.

Speaking of unused content, the game's development team was planning to add Prometheus as a playable character for the online version, according to a recent interview with denfaminicogamer. Unfortunately, the game's end of service was decided while they were considering him. With no additional characters or DLC currently planned for Mega Man X DiVE Offline, it's unlikely we'll see Prometheus added to the roster. At the very least, we can hope that the development team keeps sharing unused ideas and designs.

If you want to see the offline version's credit sequence featuring the brand-new theme song Recognize, check out the video below. For more behind-the-scenes Offline info, read our translated interview here.

  1. Aw man, Prometheus was one of my biggest wishlist items for the game. Hopefully if Offline sells well that will give them a good reason to go ahead and add him in as a bonus.

  2. Wait NebulaJoy's Incentas concept art??? I didn't hear about this, where can I find it?

  3. I still don't know or understand why the monster hunter/dmc/street fighter stuff isn't making it to the offline version from what I've heard. I mean, they're all Capcom franchises... I really don't get it.

    1. Companies are made of subdivisions and each subdivision doesn't have full rights to use IP's owned by other subdivisions. It's easier for them to make crossovers happen but it's not as simple as "Capcom = Capcom". Likely the devs for MH, SF, and DMC backed out instead of choosing to renew their contracts for the characters appearing in the game because of worries Offline might be a flop and not being a cash cow like the Online version.

There'd be no reason for the X DiVE devs to deliberately remove the crossover characters otherwise, as they'd just be another price point to advertise the game with.

    2. You'd think so. Its predictable as the day is long that Capcom is gonna cross promote. It's a Capcomism. But, Capcom is gonna Capcom. I gave up trying to figure them out years ago.

    3. They are sure milking a dead horse, hmm? Can't move on since that would require some effort to make something all new, like an actual sequel? To be honest, MM bores me these days since it is just this.

    4. Megaman is a dead IP.
The only good products are the ROMHacks and the Fangames you can get for free.

    5. The same applies to Pokémon, the IP died in 2010 with Black and White 2, in fact, every retro IP died in 2010, gaming died as a whole around that decade and many people are still oblivious to that fact.
Indie games are what carry gaming nowadays, if not, it would have been pushed away like another fad.

    6. Alright. I wouldn't normally put someone on the spot like this, but… Gary? What are your actual grievances with the game? And please, don't tell us you've "already explained it". I'm certainly not going to go digging through your countless comments to find the one where you put it all out there.

(I'd happily accept a link to said comment, if it exists, however.)

Probably because of the story... Or because the game doesn't max out his 3080 graphics card at 4k 160hz (even tho it kinda does), cause it's puny mobile game at heart, or something like that.

I mean those are most likely his reason, since those are the things he touts and complains about all the time.

    9. The game is garbage and can be played for free right now and you can experience the entire story mode in a short week or two without having to spend 30 dollars for a game that has half the things is advertised in the first place. People wanted to play an MMO style megaman game and we got this sht instead. Gary shouldn’t and I hope doesn’t have to explain to you why he has said countless times. This game is a cash grab that features over the top breasts mechanics. Story mode is barebones and can be completed with an OP character. You essentially grinding the same game either way except one has less things going for it than the previous one

    10. The game has already surpassed the peak simultaneous player count of MM11 on Steam and is currently still within the top 100 top selling games on Steam. It's pretty fair to say that X DiVE Offline is performing very well.

      Delete
    11. Here is a radical idea, how about letting Gary speak for himself and not put words in his mouth?

This thing doing better than MM11 is very, very bad news. This franchise might as well just stop. I honestly never want to see another game made at this point. I am fine with Mega Man just dying. At least it will stop getting worse.

      Delete
    12. A Mega Man MMO? Why the hell would you ever want that, Anonymous? What kind of sick desire makes you want a Mega Man MMO?

That aside, I am glad that a gacha game is being preserved and maybe it's assets will be used for something better someday, but I do agree with Shrap that it performing well is a horrible sign. It might turn out that CAPCOM will see Mega Man as a gacha franchise, not a classic game series, and that would be rather horrible.

      Delete
    13. Guys, relax. If the another game made better, you’ll be better with Mega Man rising from the dead.

    14. My problem is this is all we see f or the past 4 years and not any other MM title. I wouldn't care so much if it wasn't just this. Not that I would be gacha or mobile anyways. Some say it doesn't but I think it does distract from Capcom making other games because gacha is easy money. Don't you get tired of seeing this go on and on for 3+ years and nothing else? Those with standards get tired of it. Also I did watch videos on it and it looks lame, like just a game centered around point collection mini-game style.

But I wouldn't mind so much if they actually made main timeline sequels at the same time. Also funny since I never once maxed out my 3080 12GB and most games I play are well below its potential (I got it to future proof my video card for at least a decade and it was on sale, and I would never waste more than 1000 on a video card), also I have a 2k monitor; not 4k, and it is 144hz, not 160hz.

Nice try, Anon, with that unnecessary and very incorrect jab. If you are gonna jab at me, at least get the specs and reasons right so you look smarter, no offence. Also please choose a legit name so we can distinguish vs everyone calling themselves anon. Maybe the site admin needs to eliminate the option to be called anon (if possible on his end) as it is very confusing to know who is who. Everyone being called anon is also something I'm tired of and only confuses the convos.

    15. Wait, rom hacks and fan games for free? They’re the only ones saving the series from dying.

    16. Or maybe you could stop being a drama queen. X DiVE Offline is doing well because it's actually good. How can you even call yourself a fan when you want the entire series to die off just because a game you don't like is popular?

      Delete
    17. "How can you even call yourself a fan when you want the entire series to die off just because a game you don't like is popular?"

Sprite Recreator got it correct where as you failed entirely. You took two independent sentences and made a point I didn't make. It's really quite simple. I promise not to use any big words.

I want the franchise to just stop because, since around MM7 and MMX5, the quality is getting worse (including MM11). That, and most of the stories are completely told. We know how X ends, more or less. Legends does not have a cliffhanger ending. And ZX will never get an ending. The rest of the stories are complete.
A pointless TV show was made. A doomed Netflix show was green-lit (Capcom has NEVER made a good live action adaption.) Add that to what Sprite said, gauging the survey questions, theories on the leaks and Capcom themselves, there is no cause for optimism.

"The game has already surpassed the peak simultaneous player count of MM11 on Steam and is currently still within the top 100 top selling games on Steam. It's pretty fair to say that X DiVE Offline is performing very well."

That's a lot easier to do when your on PC and mobile only platforms instead of every modern console like MM11 did... So, nice attempt at misleading data. And being in the top 100 top selling list isn't that impressive for a game from a AAA publisher that's been out less than a week.

I played US X DiVE for from August to November of 2021. The farthest I was able to get in Story Mode was, I think, World 11: Oil Field. And that was despite doing every single daily quest, all of the optional objectives, and every single event thing I could possibly do, as well as every Hard Mode stage. I don't remember my overall level, but Roll (my character of choice) was maxed out, my Crimson Scythe was Rank 3, and my Gatling Gun was Rank 5. And I still could not complete Oil Field on Normal because my overall power rating was, apparently, far below the minimum requirement. Normal enemies took seconds to whittle down and heavily armored enemies took up to a minute. And considering how many "enemy arenas" there are in any given level…

So, yeah. Tell us, again, how the free version can be "beaten in two weeks".

      @Sprite Recreator
I remember when Rockman Online was going to be a thing. It was a lot like X DiVE in some ways, in fact. I also remember footage of a Ghosts 'n Goblins Online work-in-progress. Clearly, there's a market for this kind of game.

      @Gary Daniel
So, if I understand correctly… you don't consider this game a "real" Mega Man X game because it was a money-eating collect-a-thon?™ You said you saw videos of it, right? Did you see videos of the Story Mode gameplay? It's basically Maverick Hunter X, but with free aim, limited weapons, and whatever unique abilities your character has. The gashapon stuff was absolutely my breaking point because it was so in-your-face and, at times, seemed like a necessity (it wasn't). That, and NebulaJoy kept screwing the game up in very noticeable ways – usually with Event Stages or the gashapon give-outs. But, actually playing the game? It's very much Mega Man X. A lot of love when into making this world and its story, and I guess I'm not sure why you still think otherwise. It's not like this is "another Rockman Xover" – which was as minimal-effort as possible.

Also, the Mega Man Xtreme games had a storyline similar to this one, what with the "ghost in the machine" kind of situation. So… I dunno. But, I do appreciate you taking the time to try and explain your feelings against the game. Thank you very much!

    20. Jo, I mean 'real' meaning an actual sequel MMX9 style, no reused assets, remixed old themes, more true to the MMX game play, no 4th wall, and story mode being the main thing, and not involving being absorbed into a network. Also Extreme also made that mistake of copy catting too much, but it seemed more true to how a MM game should play. Dive just doesn't look like what an x8 is or what an X9 should be. MHX also was more true to an X game. I never played the Extreme games, but did watch youtube videos on it. Extreme 2 even was so low detailed it looked boring. I watched the X5 Final Sigma W battle on Dive and it did not look or feel like an X game story mode at all (compared it to the X5 battle with dialog and all and truly story mod vs seeing how fast you can beat him). It was mostly racking up points, the explosions were lame, and the stage just ended right there even without him going boom. Compared to what an actual X9 would be, assuming X8 style or PSX X game style, I think we can all agree Dive isn't legit compared to an actual main timeline sequel. It is hard to explain. I tried. I have seen some segments of Dive. Compared even MM11 to Dive. Notice MM11 is more legit in design, the way it plays, being story mode mostly, level design, sticking with MM characters, no buying stuff with real money or weird gimmick like playing dress up, all new assets, story takes place in the real world, etc.

Like I said before though, my main issue is that they have been just doing only Dive for years, like an ongoing event, not a game, and not one peek of any main timeline sequel platformer game in the works, as if dive is being done at the expense of any other project. Actual games are released once and can have addons later, but are not events. How weird to see MM Valentine's event. I mean sure, some of the art style in Dive is not bad and they gave the women nice bodies, but still. Make and X9 already and serious story; not just Dive taking the spot light for years at the cost of everything else. That is what irritates me. It is just this for years and at the cost of other stuff, it seems. And yeah, if this does well, then they may just make more gacha and we can forget about X9 and other stuff. Of course that is upsetting. If they do Dive, at least make other MM games at the same time vs either/or.

Um, Legends does have a cliffhanger ending.

Not just with Volnutt stuck on the moon, but the impending threat of the "Elder System" that would reactivate now that the master system was destroyed. It's basically a final threat, one that Yuna was worried about awakening and them being unable to stop it due to them being stranded. It's an easy thing to overlook as it is only briefly mentioned at the end, but for big Legends fans like myself it's still something we'd like to see resolved.

As for X? Yes, we do know how it ends timeline wise - but many of us would like to know what that little incident with Axl at the end implies; the rise of new generation reploids also still seems to be a potential threat as well.

ZX? now that one is tricky, because you really could say the "cliffhanger" doesn't affect the cast, and you really only see that ending if you play hard mode sooo...ignorance is bliss if you play normal mode?

There is at least some success for CAPCOM in such ventures, but it doesn't change that those games aren't Mega Man. The Xtreme games certainly went a bit further than usual, but even Xtreme 2 basically had entirely new weapons and completely redone stages and bosses. XDiVE doesn't really satisfy many likely because it almost feels massproduced in it's actual content. Tons of characters and weapons, but none of them are anywhere near as fleshed out as some of the better choices between X and Zero from the past X games (even Xtreme 2), an absurd amount of stages but pretty much all of them are filler. There are X games from the past where level design mattered down to the very object placement: relatively cheap 3D renditions of past stage visuals coupled with enemies of the past spammed all over don't really match that. Same goes for bosses: even fights that some would consider absurd from older X games were carefully designed and could be nodamaged, usually also not having that much of a large healthbar. XDiVE's fights are closer to a battle about who can survive potential tanking of hits the longest, it's like fighting a Metroid boss without any strategy on a first playthrough but without the fun of that boss still being made to ensure you can beat it without taking a hit. And honestly, it's not like this is purely a gacha thing, I am sure some, say, JRPG's are also guilty of some of those similar issues. It's just that XDiVE is at the end of the day just a divisive spin-off, and the reason why that got many mad is simple:

The "guys, relax" anonymous has brought up something interesting: the idea of Mega Man rising from the grave. How many times did that happen? I mean, supposed to happen. Powered Up and Maverick Hunter X, 9 and 10, then 11, with a few dead projects like Universe also meant to do so in-between. And while the first of those arguably didn't do that well, both the Inti classic games and 11 were surprisingly successful, 11 especially. What happened after that? Well, each time, it's nothing. Every revival is about as triumphant as a Dracula revival with a Belmont on his doorstep the moment he even moves. And sure, the PSP times were when Mega Man was apparently oversaturated, with the PS2 and GBA days being one hell of a time and the PSP/DS games barely even selling (ZX is a sad case), and at least with the Inti games, there were a bunch of cancelled projects after that. There was an attempt. What now? We got collections of varying types of "it's okay" and we got XDiVE, and even it is now dead. At this point, why should one give CAPCOM their own money when the next half of a decade might be yet another drought? Or when they release yet another throwback classic title surely meant to just start things up and because of that it will be less ambitious and have less features and actual original content (and 9/10 dared to have content DLC's)? This series went through so many supposed revivals that never ended up actually leading to anything. When the future of the franchise seems to be either yet another drought or, if XDiVE really ends up being a success, potentially more gacha games that barely pass the bar, it seems like Mega Man is in a very grim situation. I suppose it's at least slightly better than the state of Castlevania, or particularly Gradius. But even Castlevania had MercurySteam work on some of their... less nice games, and those are the same people that would end up developing Samus Returns and Metroid Dread later on. Mega Man seems to have nothing nowadays.

So… I spent six hours playing the US mobile game on a fresh account, using only what the game handed me and without doing much "grinding". By World 3 Hard (the "eighth" area of the game), enemies were, as previously stated, "damage sponges" and they hit me for about a third of my health or more. I even made a video wherein I fought Rangda Bangda W (Hard) for five minutes.

Tell us, again, how the "power creep" has changed in the last two years, and again-again, how you can beat the Story Mode in two weeks without spending money or playing excessively.

Inversely, progress in Offline seems pretty easy. Maybe a little too easy… I know it's weird to say, but I think whoever converted the game maybe went too far the other way…? I dunno, I'm sure there's ways to handicap yourself…

  4. I love how I talked trash about MegaMan and Capcom for years ever since Starforce 3 and the day Inafune lied and used everyone like a parasite to make Mighty No.9 and only NOW are people waking up after I’ve left the IP. 🤣 Capcom is purposely trying to kill off MegaMan it’s easier for them to focus on art that has nothing to do with robots but instead art that is 100% focuses on abs breasts and common perversions in games especially street fighter and they are trying to focus on a more mature IP selection. Naturally this means MegaMan has to die. If not he will be used for pocket change like he has been for decades now. I’m over the toy story equivalent of fans telling me it’s ok and to support a company that ****es on its consumers lol. 😂 being ok with capcom acting this way is like being unable to leave your ex gf guys lol seriously self respect before submission Christ have mercy lol. 🤣

Dive certainly isn't the best by far, but it's better than X7 was imo. I enjoyed it for what it was, a trip down memory lane and a bit of megaman fun. No, I wasn't looking for the next Megaman AAA game from it, and no, I do wish it had been a bit better here and there without some of the extra fluff, but all in all, I am happy its got an offline version that anyone who wants to give it a try, can.

      But it also introduced Axl...............................................................................................

    3. X7 had some decent explosions effects too and debris and made for the big screen. X7 can be fun yet sometimes irritating when the character can actually get knocked on their ass and can't move until they get up or slow clunky movements with the saber. Fun to blow things up on that game though and reflect blasts back. Mobile phone games for some reason, like the PSP, tend to have bad explosion effects. On MHX, when the boss explodes or first form Sigma explodes, it looked like a lame short lived orb. Even the original SNES X game had better boss explosions. Now if they copy and pasted the boss explosion from X8 into MHX (assuming they didn't make a new one and assuming it is powerful enough hardware, which it probably is), it would be acceptable. They just copy pasted the orb animation and orb expansion sound effect, it looked like. If they are gonna make a remake, at least put more effort into it and make 'all' aspects of it look better, and ideally make the media higher res so it looks good on a big screen when full screen. The MHX boss explosions kind of ruin the fun for me and one reason it can't replace original MMX.
