Rockman X DiVE May Be Coming to Steam

Rockman X DiVE is a proven hit on mobile. And if a few interesting strings are to be believe, it may find further success on PC.

Nope; this isn't an early April Fool's joke. According to a verified Rockman Corner source, the latest version of Rockman X DiVE's client makes several allusions to Steam. English prompts such as "the account has been banned by Steam VAC", "Steam product ID doesn't match",  "Steam purchase failed,"and "You are not logged in on your Steam account. Please start the game on the Steam panel" appear numerous times throughout the client. These and dozens of other solitary references to Steam haven't appeared in Rockman X DiVE before.

Indeed, there are heavy implications at work here. While nothing is outright confirmed, the presence of Steam strings could suggest that the development team are in the process of porting Rockman X DiVE to PC. If so, that would open the game up to a larger audience; new players living beyond the game's key markets in Asia and Japan.

Demand for official support in North America and much of Europe has been vocal since day one. Perhaps a PC/Steam port is the answer? Pending further evidence or official word from Capcom, we can only speculate.

Would you pick up and play X DiVE on PC? Hey, I've been doing alright with BlueStacks. But I wouldn't oppose this in the slightest. I'm all in for accessibility and native controller support!

Rockman X DiVE Digital Stickers Now Available on LINE

Rockman X DiVE is a pretty big hit in Asia. So much so that it's dominance has bled into LINE with the release of brand-new stickers! They're cute,  fun to collect and... they're only available in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau.

But hey, the good news is there are different methods to legitimately download out-of-region LINE content. A little Googling can go a long way. But for now you can see what all 40 character stickers look like here. There's one for X, Axl, Zero... even RiCO and ViA (who apparently has a mouth? Neat, I guess.)

If you have the means to do so, you can download the stickers here. And, no; I don't have any updates on when X DiVE will become available in the states. Sorry, folks!

Mega Man Battle Network 20th Anniversary News Round-up

While there weren't any significant announcements made on March 21st, (again, Capcom are asking us to be patient about that) there were a handful of smaller Mega Man Battle Network 20th anniversary news bites that shouldn't go unnoticed.

Epic Games Wants to Know if You Want Mega Man in Fortnite

I'll level with you -- I don't play Fortnite. I tried it a few times. Eh. It wasn't for me. But I won't deny how important it is for a lot of people. Maybe you, even! That's why, dear Rockman Corner reader, you might find this particular bit of news interesting.

Reportedly, Epic Games have e-mailed a survey to select Fortnite players asking which video game franchises they'd like to see crossovers with. These include Resident Evil, Ratchet and Clank, Super Mario and even... Mega Man! Nice.

The full list includes a LOT of heavy-hitters so it stands to reason that the Blue Bombers faces some competition. Granted, Capcom already has a foot in the proverbial Fortnite door with Street Fighter. That may bode well for our boy. Maybe.

All in all, though, there's no guarantee that these characters will make it into the game. The survey is primarily being used to gauge interest in the direction future crossovers will take. Video game franchises? Movie characters? Comic book heroes and so on? Only time will tell. You can find more info from the sources below.

Capcom Asks for "Patience" During Mega Man Battle Network's 20th Anniversary

Mega Man Battle Network turned 20-years-old today.

It's a milestone anniversary that, at first, appeared to be marching in-line with Capcom's Mega Man X 25th anniversary output. "Capcom Seeking Partners for Mega Man Battle Network 20th Anniversary Products" was a headline that carried major implications. For the most part, it still does.

But that headline dropped in May 2020. May. We were two months into a raging pandemic, facing a remarkably uncertain future. To say COVID-19 hasn't had an impact on Capcom's plans, let alone the industry as a whole, is an understatement. And today, on Battle Network's actual 20th anniversary, the company finally acknowledged it.

Five PS2 Mega Man Prototypes Dumped Including a Very Early X8

Roughly 755 PlayStation 2 prototypes have been released by Hidden Place and Textfiles under "Project Deluge". No longer subject to a disc rot fate, these freshly-preserved prototypes include five Mega Man titles.

The are:

  • Mega Man Anniversary Collection (May 6, 2004 prototype)
  • Mega Man X Collection (Nov 8, 2005 prototype)
  • Mega Man X8 (Aug 12, 2004 prototype)
  • Mega Man X8 (Oct 20, 2004 prototype)
  • Mega Man X: Command Mission (Jul 23, 2004 prototype)

While each of these games feature their own helping of differences from their final retail counterparts, the August 12th build of Mega Man X8 is certainly the most significant. It predates the final build by two months, featuring numerous unused graphics, unfinished cutscenes (storyboards are used instead) placeholder assets, debug features and more.

You can download and play these prototypes from Hidden Palace's Project Deluge page. Note that, if the page or DL links become unavailable, check back again in a couple hours.

Enjoy!

"Capcom Retro Station" Trailer (Feat. Mega Man & Bass, Power Battle/Fighters, Soccer, MMX)

With the Capcom Retro Station due to hit Japan at the end of the month, it's only fitting that manufacturer TRON published the above trailer. It's our best look yet at this officially-licensed, arcade-style micro console.

As previously reported, the Retro Station includes ten pre-installed Mega Man and Street Fighter games. The five Mega Man titles are Mega Man: The Power Battle, Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters, Mega Man X, Mega Man Soccer and Rockman & Forte. With the exception of Rockman & Forte, every Mega Man game listed is fully playable in English. Rockman & Forte will be the original, untranslated Super Famicom version.

The Retro Station is due in Japan in March 31st for 21,780 Yen. That's roughly $210 US. Pre-orders are currently available through Amazon Japan. A global release is planned to rollout soon after.

Five Obscure Rockman Manga Scanned and Translated

Need some fresh Rockman reading material in your life? Sure ya do! Rockman Tanjou's very own Digi returns with not one, but five brand-new, English scanlated manga! These books are relatively obscure and are pretty new to many of us -- myself included.

They are:

The first manga is from the Rockman & Rockman X Daizukan, written and illustrated by Goro Yamada (Kikaider, Inazuma). The Rockman ZX Advent Extra Chapter is a new chapter from Shin Ogata that was produced in 2019, distributed to fans who purchased both volumes of the Rockman ZX Advent reprints.  It's the newest story of this translated batch.

Saga of the the Planets and Saga of the Mu Continent were written and illustrated by Daisuke Inoue in 1993 and 1994. They appeared exclusively in Comic Bom Bom's Spring and Winter Vacation Jumbo issues, respectively. Neither Mu nor Voldos has been reprinted in any form. And finally, the Gigamix Settai is... well, I'm sure you can guess who was behind that one!

Sounds like you've got a lot of reading to do! Enjoy and thank you, again, to Digi!

Mega Man 1-6 Mobile Will Be Delisted on March 29th

Hey, you remember when all six NES Mega Man games dropped on mobile four years ago? Yeah... they're about to be taken down. For good.

Mega Man Mobile 1-6, for no readily available reason, will be delisted from both the App Store and Google Play (worldwide) on March 29th, Capcom announced. Users who previously purchased the games (individually or bundled) will still be able to redownload them. Four other Capcom Mobile titles, Ghosts 'n Ghoblins, Ghouls 'n Ghosts, 1942, Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando, will be delisted on the 29th as well.

Originally released in early 2017 for $1.99 a pop, Mega Man Mobile 1-6 will be notoriously remembered for a swath of performance issues. Poor and sudden frame drops, unresponsive controls, off-key and broken sound emulation... the list goes on. And if memory servers right, these ports were actually ports OF ports. They were based on the Brew/C versions from 2004-2006. So yeah; these were never really an accurate representation of the original games.

Anyway, that's that. The .apk for each game exists out there in the ether for posterity. But, you know, maybe you should go buy Mega Man Legacy Collection?
