New Mighty No. 9 Gameplay and Call Details

Comcept and Inti Creates have rolled out a new gameplay video for Mighty No. 9 that covers even more footage of Mighty No. 2 and Mighty No. 5's stages. You can check it out above.

Additionally, the developers have shared more details on the game's second playable character, Call. Unlike Beck, Call can't perform a crouching dash. Instead, she'll have access to a crawl manuver that enables players to navigate through tight areas such as ventilation shafts. You can view these animations here. While you're there, check out Call's new look. Inti Creates have gone back and fine-tuned some of the character's aesthetic details.

Original Mega Man Promo Art Hits Auction Block

A pair of interesting items have hit the ol' Yahoo Auctions: original art cels used to promote Mega Man 2 and Mega Man 3 in Club Nintendo magazine. To my knowledge these were not produced in-house at Capcom; rather, they were commissioned on Capcom's behalf. What's more, these pieces yield from the personal collection of the late Hideaki Ito, known for his contributions to the Japanese animation industry.

The Mega Man 2 piece measures in at about 4.1 x 5.8 inches; Mega Man 3 at 4.9 x 6.9 inches. As of this writing, the untouched opening bid is 30,000 Yen each (roughly $296.12). Not exactly cheap, but can you really put a price something like this? Well, I wouldn't have thought so, either, but here we are. Original cels don't typically come cheap, mind you.

Of course, if you're not in the market you can always admire them. Check them out here and here!

Rockman Xover Introduces the Battle Tower

After a month's delay, the Battle Tower has opened its doors to Rockman Xover players. In short, it's a gauntlet set up specifically for boss battles.

Players enter the tower with their custom OVER-1 and climb up floors fighting boss after boss. The higher you climb, the better the reward (but bosses will be tougher). Also awaiting players, OVER-1's rival and his lackeys...

Mega Man 9 Arrives on PlayStation Now

If you have access to the closed PlayStation Now beta, you'll be pleased to know that Mega Man 9 was recently added to the streaming service. Rental fees vary from title to title, but Mega Man 9 is starting at $2.99 for 4 hours of play, $3.99 for 7 days, $5.99 for 30 days, or $7.99 for 90 days. Compared to, say, Final Fantasy XIII-2's rental tag, this isn't too bad.

Also worth a mention, if you own the game digitally on PS3 it will be free to stream right away on your PS3. Similarly, it will be free to stream on PS4 after you rent it on PS3 first. As long as you have a decent internet connection, you should be able to jump right in and play.

Thanks to Johnathan for the tip!

Capcom Open to Buyout as Takeover Defense Plan Abandoned

Capcom has announced that shareholders have voted to not renew the company's existing takeover-defense plan, a countermeasure instated six years ago to prevent a third party acquisition. With the 2008 defense measure abandoned, Capcom is vulnerable to buyout if any shareholder or group acquires a majority of its shares.

A statement issued from Capcom's Investor Relations report notes the company will continue to focus on enhancing corporate value and the interest of its shareholders. In the event of a hostile takeover, management will respond with the necessary legal measures within the "admissible limits of applicable laws and regulations." They will also make sure "there is sufficient time for shareholders to examine the proposed large-scale purchase and reach a decision."

This news does not guarantee the company will be bought out, but it does mean the possibility of an acquisition exists. It's also worth mentioning an offer is currently not on the table. Ultimately, though, this is something we will continue to observe from the sidelines.

Mega Buster Replica Coming From ThinkGeek

ThinkGeek, makers of all sorts of geeky things, are rolling out a super sweet electronic Mega Buster replica later this year. Details are as follows:

"The Mega Man Mega Buster Gun Replica is a real work of art. Turn it on and you'll hear a power up sound and watch the power meter fill up. Reach in, grab the handle, and you're ready for action. Quickly pull the trigger and you'll hear a single fire sound and the end will flash. Hold in the trigger, though, and you'll watch the power meter fill and the sound intensify until you release the trigger, firing a charged shot! When you are finished vanquishing evil robots for the day, switch the Mega Buster off and enjoy the power down lights and sounds."

The Mega Buster is expected to ship on December 15th, priced at $79.99. Pre-orders aren't live yet, but go ahead and bookmark this page in the meantime. Check out additional images and blueprints while you're there, too!

Your Input Needed for a Future Mega Man Figure

Good day, friends. I've been informed to seek out your input that may influence the development of a truly unprecedented Mega Man figure. It's a product we haven't quite seen before and, if you're interested, it may just come to fruition.

The premise: a company is considering producing a high end 1/6 scale Mega Man X action figure (roughly 12") utilizing diecast and plastic components. It would have a buster illuminated by LED. It would retail between $149.99-$199.99 USD with plans for expansion accessory packs of other Armors.

The question: would you be interested in a high end Mega Man X (or any Mega Man series character) 1/6 scale figure?

Give us a YES or a NO in the comment section below. Please feel free to provide additional feedback, too! The parties involved will be interested to hear what you have to say.

There's no time frame on this little poll. Cast your vote at your convenience.

Another Look at S.H. Figuarts Mega Man Zero (Updated)

UPDATE: Additional images now available.

Development on the S.H. Figuarts figure of Zero from the Mega Man Zero/Rockman Zero series is nearing completion. And over on Rockman Unity, Ucchy brings us fresh batch of images of the final design. He even provides a sneak peek at some of the figure's accessories, which include the Z-Saber, Z-Buster, Triple Rod, Shield Boomerang, and additional hand sets. You can see them all in action at Rockman Unity!

Zero is being released in Japan as an online exclusive figure. Don't be concerned, however, since he should arrive at retail in North America, too. This was the same case with D-Arts Vile and D-Arts Bass.

S.H. Figuarts Rockman Zero goes on sale in Japan this October. Details on the North American release should come soon!

Feel the Beat! Mega Man in Sound Rangers Gameplay

As we've discussed in the past, Mega Man has been making a huge splash in Capcom's Sound Rangers: Rhythm and Battle. As one of the company's most marketable, recognizable icons, Mega Man and friends are constantly appearing in the game in the form of playable characters. More recently, however, Robot Masters are showing up again... and they're putting up a fight.

For your viewing pleasure, here's some gameplay from the most recent Mega Man-themed event. It's a fight against Cut Man in a no-holds-barred musical throw-down. If you've ever played Elite Beat Agents, you know how this works. You tap, hold and slide in time to the music (remixed Mega Man music, no less). Things can get pretty crazy, so watch out for random difficulty spikes. If you're interested, hit the jump below to see Snake Man and Flash Man's stages.

For a low budget iPhone game, Capcom's Sound Rangers: Rhythm and Battle is actually pretty fun. The game is free to play, so if you want to set up a Japanese iPhone account, you can check it out for yourself.
