Official Mega Man Eyeglasses, Because Why Not?

Capcom's 30th anniversary bash continues with yet another collaboration. The house that built Mega Man is teaming up with Zoff for some special Capcom-themed eyeglasses designs. This includes, of course, a pair of Mega Man glasses.

The right temple is decorated with Mega Man shooting through a level and the other has Dr. Wily pleading for mercy. The glasses include a case and cleaning cloth featuring various 8-bit sprites. The whole kit and caboodle cost 5,200 Yen. If you're in need of corrective lenses, though, the total price will vary.

You can check out more Capcom eyeglasses at Siliconera.

  2. I wonder how many article titles have included "Because why not" with all this merch.

  3. Hah. Protoman Shades would have been so much better.

Much as I do love Mega Man, these frankly look a little too childish.

  6. So I take it that those of use who do not wear glasses are SOL on this one? I guess they can be customized to be sunglasses, but wow, those are some expensive frames. The quality doesn't even look all that great, either. They remind me of those cheap framed sunglasses you see sold at convenient stores.

    1. 5,200 yen translates into around $50 USD.

If you think that's a lot, you have no idea how much prescription frames cost. These are on the low end of the price scale for prescription frames. Normal $50 frames are usually plastic and about the same quality as these. I paid $160 for my frames, and the lenses were $100 on top of that.

Even if I liked this style of frame (I prefer rimless frames) I wouldn't wear these, though. Why is the design on the inside? No one could see it while you were wearing them. When you get frames like these, the point is usually to show them off.

  7. I'm getting severe Entertainment 720 vibes from Capcom's use of Mega Man these days.
