Courtesy of Lunar Distribution, we have our first look at Mega Man: Gear Masters #2, along with the issue’s official solicitation:
Mega Man faces off against some of the most powerful Robot Masters yet, each infused with a piece of Dr. Wily’s Double Gear system! Can the Blue Bomber overcome these upgraded enemies, or will he be reduced to scrap metal?
Cover A features artwork by Ryan Jampole, Cover B is by Tavis Maiden, and Cover D is illustrated by Genzoman. Cover C is a collage of different classic series key art; no artist this time.
Mega Man: Gear Masters #2 is currently scheduled to arrive in stores on October 28.

That first cover is unreasonably tuff. I'm excited to see where is series goes!
ReplyDeleteThere's a lot of fun easter eggs on that second cover.
ReplyDeleteMaiden's cover is so cute, Jampole's one goes hard.
ReplyDeleteCan nobody draw anymore? The first two covers have no marketing appeal. Take the "MEGA MAN" logo off those covers and nobody's going to be drawn to those books when they're on the comic rack. the 3rd cover is a lazy collage of official Capcom art. And Genzoman IS a legit talent, but he's just doing a nostalgia bait recreation of the MM2 NES box art (and $20? WTF?). Where's the originality? Where's the splash? The pizazz? The bold visuals? The popping colors? I had the same problem when I was deciding which version of the Dr. Wily comic to preorder. I went with the Ryan Jampole A cover because it was the "least worst", but it's also a lazy parody of Uncanny X-Men #135. https://cdn.marvel.com/u/prod/marvel/i/mg/a/10/5372a938d5eff/clean.jpg
ReplyDeleteseeing the main character dead on the ground has no marketing appeal? that's something comics have been doing for decades. also, all of the dr wily covers are parodies. thats the joke with it, that hes only really 2nd best...
