Mega Man Timelines #1 hits comic shops this week, and collectors have two more variant covers to watch for. Sukesha Ray has partnered with Capcom and Udon Entertainment to produce two exclusive covers available only through Afshari Comics. These "virgin covers"—featuring Mega Man and Proto Man, respectively—come without logos and include minimal text for a clean, striking presentation.
Both covers are being sold as a bundle for $45, limited to just 500 sets. Pre-orders are open now, with the official release slated for May 28th.

My boys look so GOOD
ReplyDeletelooks interesting. not $45 interesting, but interesting. a bit odd a rubbery, and protoman's gun looks like something.. um.... unmentionable...
ReplyDeletelooks good as a thumbnail, but not all that great when blown up. they look oddly rubbery and weirdly flat. like, protoman's back arm is unnaturally perpendicular to our sight, with the shield oddly straight but also slightly tilted? the lookey hole looks dopey small too. t
he hair is and faces are nice though, as are the backdrops.
Bruh why would you say that about the Proto Buster, now I can’t unsee it. ToT
DeleteHelmets are funny too. Mega Man’s crest and square bit look pretty off-center. Proto Man’s white trim is less bad, but then his earmuffs are basically on-model, while Mega Man’s aren’t?
@Erik, my man, you have a dirty mind to think that about Prot's buster. :V
DeleteThese are good! No complaints! Just look at em!
ReplyDeleteCover A is $5 (this is the one the general audience will associate the book with, take that into account on value)
ReplyDeleteCover B is $5
Cover C is $7
Cover D (Andrew Dickman) is $20
Cover X1 (Keenbiscuit) is $40
and now this for $45
And any I might have missed I forgot about
No modern comic book is worth over $130 total for 7 copies of the same book.
Hi! Artist here. The 45$ is the price for two of them, not one:) just a clarification.
DeleteNice art btw
DeleteI know that. That's why it's $130+ not $175+
DeleteThis book is still $100 and 4+ variants out of control. Variant art is nice and all, but it's only for diehards and does little if anything to grow your actual customer base. And I will guess the aftermarket value just isn't there for people on ebay to sell these at jacked up prices.
Good ‘ole Bruce.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a collector I would avoid novels and most comics because they are lower on the desired merch list for most. It took what I did have in said category longest to sell as well I was glad I went the game and model/figure route those sold extremely fast my armor series sold for over 3000$ after I sold my first lot. I say this for the sake of other collectors if novels/comics are your thing that's cool and all but they will be harder to find a buyer later.
ReplyDeleteI just emailed the shop. Seems like they aren't shipping to Canada.
ReplyDeleteAfshari Comics got back to me. They've opened up shipping to Canada. Possibly other places. They were friendly and easy to talk to so shout out to them. :)
DeleteI will never understand "collectables". The price is too high and the art isn't even that good.
ReplyDelete(No offense, Ray, if you read this.)
Collectors like to collect. The joy of building a collection will override their feelings on how something looks or functions. All collectors are fans in some respect. But not all fans are collectors.
DeleteThen you have investors/speculators. They care more about resale value because for them, it's about what they can get for something in the future, not their passion for the IP. Think graded collectibles/games.
I have almost every US-released game CIB. Their value could tank to a $1 overnight and I wouldn't lose a wink of sleep over it, because I'm a fan first and a collector second. Just my two cents.
Nah, that makes sense. I have a complete set of gold-plated Pokémon cards somewhere-abouts. I've been waiting for them to be worth something since 1999. I guess they weren't as "limited edition" as people thought…
DeleteMy CIB copy of Metal Gear AC!D is worth more right now…
