Mega Man 11 Sales Top 1.7 Million, Legacy Collections On the Rise

Mega Man 11 continues its steady advance as the best selling entry in the franchise. According to the newest Capcom Platinum titles charts, the game now sits at 1.7 million units sold. That's an increase of 100K units from last November to fiscal year ending March 31st 2023.

Mega Man Legacy Collection and Mega Man X Legacy Collection saw growth during this period as well. Mega Man Legacy Collection advanced to 1.4 million units (up 100K). Mega Man X Legacy Collection also charted with 1 million units. It's also worth pointing out that, according to then-series producer Kazuhiro Tsuchiya, both X Legacy Collection volumes combined topped 1.4 million units in late 2019. Therefore, presumably, the data reflected on the Platinum Titles likely refers to Volume 1 only.

Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection narrowly missed the cutoff for inclusion in the Platinum Titles due to its release timing falling outside of the fiscal year period. Because the game already surpassed one million units shortly after its April debut, we can eagerly anticipate its inclusion in the forthcoming fiscal year's final tally.

  3. My pendulum did predict that the X Legacy Collection will get listed on Capcom's Platinum Titles list one day. I did predict that the BNLC will reach 1 million in 4 months, but it was way faster than that. This could be a harbinger of X9 gettting announced. The Battle Network reboot could happen sooner than later.

  4. Does this mean Mega Man is gaining relevance? Especially since the Battle Network Legacy Collection?

  5. What's the franchise standing at as a whole now, do you know?

Also what's the over-under on anything Megaman for this coming Capcom showcase? Did they say they were only talking about stuff already revealed?

  6. Didn't the dev team for Mega Man 11 say that the fate of Mega Man 12 depends on the success of MM11? The producer may have left, but we could still get something new this year.

  7. I wonder how BNLC is doing now, since it hit the million mark 2 weeks after launch and now we're at almost two months after.

  8. What I find impressive is the healthy sales growth of these titles well after their release. I'm not sure if it's purely due to the nature of digital distribution nowadays or Capcom being strategic with when it does discounts, but 100k more unit sales of the original LC is pretty darn good for a game released what, 7+ years ago now? We're talking about this past quarter's sales beating the lifetime sales for some MM titles.

The market has proven that MM games can be profitable, and not just re-releases but also the ones with a more substantial upfront investment (i.e. MM11). The next 6mo is the time to announce something.

    1. digital distribution must definitely be a factor since the game don't just stop being available after a while.
Aside from that, from what i've seen, the release of the latest legacy collection ocasionally lead someone to get the previouses one (that they didn't notice or did'nt chose to pick at the time) while they're at it.
For exemple, i was talking with some japanese players a few days ago, and they got MMXLC when they went to get EXE collection.

    2. Steam helps. I bought a console copy of Zero then bought it on Steam so I could mod it.

    5. Star Force Ended, and so did Battle Network, the Sagas that didn't end are X, ZX and Legends, if they ever give closure to those, then I will stop caring about the IP for once and remember it in a good light.

  9. This should be a wakeup call for Capcom. People clearly still want these games. Otherwise, they wouldn't keep selling.

  10. How much would X Legacy Collection 1 chart if the physical bundle is included?

    1. Please, Actual Legends 3, fans did work on the game for Crapcom with their own effort, only to be cancelled, the payment to us should be the game we worked on.

    2. Having enjoyed 1&2, I had, and still dont have, no interest in what was ultimately going to be Barret's (if I remember the name right) game. I dont understand all the screaming "get me of the moon" just to give the story to Axl 2.0. A trick Capcom does over and over again in their IP. I saw no evidence they had plans to the contrary.
      So, whatever. I'm good.

    3. Well if L3 is revived, at this point, it is safe to say the story, characters, and etc, would be different than what they were doing 10+ year ago. They would probably start fresh and scrap the little that was done in 2011. Also thankfully, not put on a handheld, I would hope. I'm happy they did not release it for a 3DS and design it around a low res system like that (I would just emulate it then, though emulators did not exists for 3DS back then, and no way in hell would I play it on a tiny screen or buy a hand held just to play a few games). A dumb move would be making it for a phone. No, they need to make MM games, especially 3D ones, for the big screen built around higher res. Release for non-mobile and on steam and I would buy it. At least these days, the days of games made for by console companies being stuck on handhelds seems to be a thing of the past with hybrid systems like Switch around. I'm happy the days of them making exclusive games for Gameboy/DS and PSP systems is behind us and more choice and customization these days, though back then, some offered a way to play them on your TV, which is how I played the Zero series (through the Gamecube Gameboy Player), and I just put up with playing ZX and ZXA on the tiny DS screen since no other option back then. I made an exception there, and it was my sister's DS she let me share with her sometimes. I did play games on the GB back when I did not have the SNES with me in 1995, else I used the Super Gameboy to play them on TV through the SNES.
