Slowly but surely little bits and pieces of the sort-of-but-not-really-unnanounced Mega Man X Legacy Collection keep slipping out. Today, a brand new piece of X artwork was spotted outside Yodobashi Camera in Yokohama by rin_asei. The image was found alongside an unrelated kiosk advertising the Mega Man Legacy Collection 1+2 for Nintendo Switch. Interestingly, X is holding a pose that's strikingly similar to the Japanese Rockman X1 cover art seen here.
If this artwork is indeed legit – which it very likely is – it could mean Japanese retailers recently began recieving Mega Man X Legacy Collection promotional material. That in itself suggests an official announcement is coming in hot.
For the uninitiated, we've known since December that all eight Mega Man X games are coming to consoles and PC later this year. What hasn't been officially confirmed, however, is the release format. Early ratings from the OFLC suggest it will take the form of two separate collections. A rating from the BBFC provides further evidence, going so far as to imply a number of video extras – including the entirety of The Day of Sigma – will be feature in a gallery mode. So all in all, an X Legacy Collection (or two) is happening. We're just waiting for Capcom to announce it.

Surprise! That thing I was talking about has gone public. Mega Man: Official Complete Works is coming back in a brand-new hardcover format on October 18th.
At a whopping 296-pages, this book features the classic series half of MM25: Official Complete Works. That means the original 200-pages of vanilla MMOCW plus the Mega Man 9, Mega Man 10 and other additional concept art from MM25. Please note that there is no *new* content planned this particular release. That means no Mega Man 11 concept art. This is strictly a reprint of MMOCW with the MM25 classic series content.
As for the Mega Man X half of MM25, that will be reprinted in a separate hardcover edition as well (ignore that image of X on the above cover art; likely an error). I've got no further details on that right now other than it's coming out this fall, too. I'll have more details to share soon. For now, you can preorder the hardcover edition of MMOCW here.

Good news for the Shooting Star Rockman/Mega Man Star Force fans out there: a brand-new soundtrack compilation is headed your way. Today, Capcom announced Shooting Star Rockman Sound Box; a 3-disc set that includes all the music from Shooting Star Rockman 1, SSR2 and – for the very first time on CD – all of SSR3. About time, right?
The box set also includes brand-new cover art and a booklet containing composer commentary and notes. It will release in Japan on July 4th for 3,800 yen (about $36.21 US). And yeah; that's about it. I'll keep you updated on details as they come out. I'm really looking forward to finally owning SSR3's score officially. It's definitely my favorite of the trilogy!
Thanks for the tip, Vhyper1985!

The British Board of Film Classification recently rated a slew of bonus video content for Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1&2 (which itself has yet to be announced but outed by an OFLC rating). The classification lists several trailers for Mega Man X1 through X8 and The Day of Sigma; the 24-minute OVA originally included with Mega Man: Maverick Hunter X in 2005. These videos will purportedly be featured in the "Gallery Extras" section in each or both X collections. It remains to be seen if Maverick Hunter X itself will be playable.
The classification also indicates the collection(s) will be released on July 19th in Europe. Pending official word from Capcom, however, this date should be taken as temporary. Nevertheless it sounds like we won't have to wait much longer for an announcement. We've known for quite some time all eight X series games are headed to consoles and PC. It's only a matter time before the release format is officially confirmed.
You can view the BBFC classification here or – in case it's taken down – after the jump below. Thanks to an anonymous Rockman Corner reader for bringing this to my attention!

A brand-new promo image for the upcoming Mega Man animated series (which confirms the show will appear at the MIPTV tradeshow in April) brings us our first look at the show's Robot Masters.
So who's who? Well, Fire Man, Ice Man and Drill Man are instantly recognizable, each featuring design traits very reminiscent of their classic series counterparts. It's worth pointing out that both Fire Man and Drill Man have undergone significant redesigns since their appearance in the now-scrapped 2D version. The other two Robot Masters, though, are up for speculation. The flippers on the aquatic Robot Master between Ice Man and Drill Man reminds me of Wave Man or Bubble Man. The female Robot Master floating above Fire Man is probably a new character. Suna Light, maybe? Eh, who knows.
The animated series is slated to air on Cartoon Network in the states later this year in a 52 episode, 11-minute format. Hopefully we'll have more news and additional details soon.

Got some interesting news for ya from the artbook front. First, it appears Amazon will be restocking MM25: Mega Man & Mega Man X Official Complete Works. UDON informed me this is not a reprint, rather, Amazon probably grabbed a few remaining new copies from a sub-distributor.
Second, UDON sends word that MM25 is sold out at the publisher, without plans to reprint. But they are, however, preparing some new editions that contain the same material for a fall release. It's not MM25, per se, but I think you're gonna like what they're cooking. More details to come.
In the meantime you might want to pick up Amazon's copies while supply lasts. Order yours here!

So this is interesting. For the first time in the franchise's history, an individual series has it's own anniversary logo. The packaging for the upcoming Rockman X & Rockman X Mega Missions box set contains a unique Rockman X 25th anniversary logo. You can see it here in the top right corner of the package. And hey, check this out – the silhouette is from Maverick Hunter X. Interesting, no?
So what's so special about all this? Well, it implies a campaign celebrating the X series' 25th anniversary (December 17th, 2018) is in the works. The logo will likely find itself attached to various commemorative goods and merchandise throughout the year. It'll probably show up on the packaging for the X Legacy Collection(s), too. Point is, whatever Capcom are planning it's significant enough to warrant this unique branding.
All we can do right now is speculate, I guess. Stay tuned!

Our friend Heidi Kemps is back with another round of Mega Man 8 animation cels. Grab your Zenny and check 'em out below:
If you're just catching up, these authentic cels are part of a collection Heidi managed to snag for a few hundred dollars at a Fanimecon swap meet last year. Since then, Heidi has been auctioning them off on eBay about once every couple of months. There's plenty more cels to go, so don't fret if you come up empty handed this time.
Best of luck, everyone!

Want to know more about that random Mega Man 2 plug and play unit that quietly hit Walmart shelves last week? John Riggs has provided us with the above video review, which goes over all of the details and features. Is it worth your hard earned Zenny? Well, let's just say there are better ways to play Mega Man 2. Much better ways.
Now, if you want to pick this up for the hell of it (let's be real, obscure Mega Man stuff is great to collect), you should check in with your local Walmart. This unit cannot be purchased online, though you can see if your store has it in stock via Brickseek. Simply change SKU to UPC and type in 840172056463 and enter your zip code.

The fifth demo build of fan-game Mega Man Battle Network Chrono X will be available to download on March 18th. Version 5 includes a number of changes from revamped graphics and new chips, to brand-new bosses (Pirate Man and Cactus Man) and "MeMENTO" transformations.
The most significant addition to V5, however, is online multiplayer. This long awaited feature doesn't require Hamachi or any third party software to play – it's all done in-app! What's more, you can square off against players from different devices. In other words, if you're playing on PC your opponent might be playing from their smartphone a whole country away. Pretty nifty, yeah?
All this can be seen in the new trailer above. Check it out when you've got a couple minutes to spare! Stay up to date on all the Chrono X happenings via the project's official website, Facebook, Twitter or Discord channel.

Capcom have announced an E-Capcom exclusive limited edition of Rockman Classics Collection 1+2 for Nintendo Switch. The 6,469 yen package includes the game (Classics Collection 1 on cartridge; CC2 digital download), 15 double sided A4-sized coloring pages (also sold separately here), a case to store the coloring pages, and one of two randomly selected coasters. It's, uh, an interesting assortment of things, to say the least.
E-Capcom goods only ship within Japan, so if you have the ability to do so, you can pre-order the limited edition here. For everyone else, I suggest you can an eye on Nin-Nin Game. They tend to stock up on these sort of E-Capcom exclusive goods and ship to the United States.
