Father Teaches Son To Become Mega Man

If you may recall, the kid featured in the video is that of Destructoid's Cranieum who diligently built his son a Mega Man costume for Halloween '08. It's still awesome till this day.
More footage of the costume in action can be found here, here and here. Oh, and be sure to sneek a peek at some super cute fan-art, here.

How Well Has Rockman Performed In Japan?

If you're like me, you're very keen on observing Rockman sales trends to determine just how successful an individual game is. That said, I was recently introduced to Japan Game Charts, a website that tracks sales data based on various Famitsu records. There you can view legitimate sales data for several Rockman games. How do your favorites stack up? Check out a small portion of the listing below:

Game Cube

Blast From The Past: Mega Man Legends Commercial

The Mega Man Legends commercial. One of the better Mega Man commercials. In fact, it's the last TV spot devoted to a single game in the series, as future spots were in a "montage form" showing multiple games at once.

Homemade Mega Man Kicks

Up for bidding on ebay is a custom pair of Converse One Stars themed after Mega Man 2. 8-bit sprites of Mega Man, Air Man and Metal Man adorn the sides with the words "Mega" and "Man" on the back. The seller is willing to take custom orders too, so you could ask for more decorations and stuff if you'd like.

Currently, the price is hovering at $19.99 with zero bids. Oh, and they're a boys size 12, I believe that translates to an adult size 8.

Bid to your heart's content here.

Thanks for the tip, Mac

A Quick Fix For Battle & Chase

A common problem with the PAL version of Mega Man Battle & Chase is the inevitable display issues when played on a NTSC TV/PlayStation. Even on modded hardware, difficulties persist in the form of scrambled graphics and bad audio quality. Fortunately, there is now a convenient solution.

Marty K whipped an Action Replay code that converts European signals to NTSC, subsequently making Battle & Chase fully playable on North American PlayStations. The only real drawback is a small part of the screen gets cut off, but other than that, it's perfect. The code below:

D0039168 0001
80039168 0000
D00B98B0 0001
800B98B0 0000

Previously, the only method of fixing B&C was to burn a copy of the game and a patch onto a CD-R; a somewhat dangerous method as commercial CD-Rs can damage the PSX's laser.

Happy gaming! Thanks, Marty.

Coro Coro Report - Operate Shooting Star Is Likely A Remake

This month's issue of Coro Coro Comics came with a tiny teaser for next issue's coverage on Operate Shooting Star:

According to the teaser (pictured), the "legendary EXE 1 will be appearing on the DS this winter as a fusion of cards and action RPG." Make of that what you will.

Right about now, it's starting to seem a lot more likely than it seems not likely that OSS is a remake. Again, more details on OSS are expected to coincide with next month's Coro Coro. Stay tuned.

Thanks to the Mega Man Network for the heads up.

Star Force 3 Review Roundup

A little over a week has past since Mega Man Star Force 3's release and with it comes a handful of reviews from the typical internet gaming outlets. Here's a breakdown of what a few had to say.

Destructoid - 7.5
"The gameplay is its own reward and once one gets into it, one finds it quite hard to get back out. It's a shame that the plot holds it back, but otherwise Megaman Starforce 3 is pretty bloody good, and well worth your time if you like your roleplayers with a little more action in them." Read full review

IGN Entertainment - 6.0/10
"For those that are still very much into the series, however, Star Force 3 is going to bring just as many hours -if not more, now that the noise system has added considerable girth to the game - to a well-established, immersive experience. The Wi-Fi is strong (though you'll need to deal with some random disconnections from sore losers ) there are plenty of side quests, 100 different forms within the noise system, a huge array of battle cards, and the continued use of the Brother Band system rewards players for connecting with friends locally or online; a nice touch for a series that is in desperate need of more innovation." Read full review

1Up - C+
"Star Force 3 has some good ideas and is probably worth a look for RPG fans... but don't feel bad if you miss out. Another one'll be along soon enough, and it probably won't be terribly different, either." Read full review

Rockman Cameos In "Secrets of Video Games" Comic

In 2007, Capcom teamed up with Gakken publishing to create an educational comic called "Secrets of Video Games", an item that would help young children gain an understanding of the ins and outs of the video game industry. This being a Capcom sponsored product, you'd expect a Rockman cameo of some sort, right? Right!

While exploring the showroom floor of an industry trade show, the main cast takes a group photo with Rockman, or a dude dressed like Rockman. Either way, it's Rockman.

Other Capcom famous characters are said to make brief cameos too, some more prominent than others.

Many thanks to rockmega for the scan!
