Sonia Voice Actor Wendee Lee Teases a Return to Mega Man Star Force

Wendee Lee, the English voice of Sonia Sky in the Mega Man Star Force anime, recently teased at a convention that she’s recorded something new for the series. While she couldn’t share too many details, her comments could suggest a return in Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection:

“There’s something in the works that I’m working on with Mega Man Star Force, but I don’t know if anything’s been announced. It’s not out yet, right?” she asked the audience.

“I don’t believe anything’s been announced,” someone replied.

“Right. So I gotta leave you a big ol’ okie doke,” Lee said. “I have to be very careful not to break my NDA, but ahem—it's musical. I’ll leave it at that.”

Considering Capcom’s plans to rearrange every track from all three Star Force games, Lee may have been tapped to finally record Sonia’s in-game songs, which were previously presented only as text. There’s also the chance she’ll restore Sonia's voice clips cut from the English version of Star Force 2, such as the title and congratulations screens present in the Japanese version.

Whatever the case, it’s encouraging to see Capcom once again reconnecting with veteran Mega Man voice actors after so many years. Hopefully, more of the original cast will return too.

  2. that's incredible, years ago I was literally dreaming about it and I gave up on that dream because I thought that was impossible. The fact Sonia will get a new song in english is absolutely incredible. Thank you so much Wendee Lee

  4. I have, when Cartoon Network aired it on their Toonami Jetstream site: it was only 13 episodes (each one being 20 minutes combining 2 of Japan's 10-minute episodes; the 13th being the 25th JP episode & a recap), and for what its worth, I thought it was enjoyable. It warmed me up to playing the first game and I instantly recognized the voice of Jason Spisak even though I hadn't heard him since the 2001 English Dub of Transformers: Robots in Disguise. Wendee Lee and Melissa Fahn were voice actresses I had unknowingly followed over the years and both had amazing singing voices (Wendee's being shown with Sonia's concert near the end of the run), so it made sense to me they would ask her to fill the void of missing singing in the game. The only thing I was sad about from the series was the feeling I wouldn't get to see the rest of the series dubbed as I would've enjoyed hearing Sonia and Luna having verbal arguments over Geo's affection.
