Unreleased and Prototype Jazwares Mega Man Figures Up for Grabs

A handful of  unreleased figures from Jazewares' Mega Man line have surfaced on eBay. Among them is a particularly intriguing treasure—a never-before-seen "battle damaged" Zero. It appears to be a redeco of the 6-inch figure from 2004, which was already a significant improvement over its less appealing wave 1 counterpart

We also have an array of test-shot prototypes of classic series Mega Man... with X's body. This fella comes in various colors, including blue, green, red and brown. It's worth noting that similar prototypes were last showcased at Toy Fair 2005 but unfortunately never made it to retail.

According to the seller, these figures were obtained from an industry veteran's estate. Now, for a very pretty penny, they could be yours. If nothing else, these new images serve as valuable additions to the pantheon of cancelled and unreleased Jazwares goodies. You can check 'em out after break!

  1. Yeah, I don't miss Jazwares at all... I wouldn't pay $4.99 for these.

    2. Jazwares figures were actually rather stiff-jointed! Especially in the legs.

    3. I loved it when I got a Cut Man that had a wrong-colored inner thigh piece. QUALITY WORKMANSHIP!

    4. The only JazWares I think are worth owning are Rush and Beat ... okay, the Retro-Roto figures are pretty good too ... except Mega Man, which has a derpy face. Shadow Man is also kind of bad, but in a hilarious way (which also matches the original art) so I'm good with him. Elec Man, Guts Man, and Proto Man are great vinyl figures for the price.

Overall I appreciate what they were trying to do with the line -- I like them better than the Ruby Spears toys -- but they didn't quite hit the mark. I these were definitely before the "adult collectibles" boom really gained traction, so these were still mostly designed for kids, but were (probably) mostly purchased by adults who wanted something of better quality.

I agree with @shrap; I also don't miss the JazWares figures.

    5. What are you talking about? The Ruby Spears figures looked 1,000 times better and had great sculpts.

    6. Sure, some of the Ruby Spears figures are great -- Snake Man and Bomb Man are still in my collection -- but I never liked the westernized character designs. I guess as far as show-accuracy goes: the sculpts are good. JazWares had some decent designs, but they all started to kind of look the same. I meant that I appreciated the direction JazWares was trying to go over Ruby Spears, but ... yeah, both overall are kind of junk figure lines to me now.

    7. Guts Man was pretty good in the Ruby-Spears line, IMO.

  4. I wonder if these are from Jesse DeStasio, from Toy Pizza, who used to work for JazWares, and specifically worked on their Mega Man line; I have seen him show unreleased prototypes for the Retro-Roto series, and other unreleased colorways.

  5. Zero's mouth makes him look like a canceled Robot Chicken sketch.

    3. I can visualize that Zero figure in a Robot Chicken scene now that you mention it.
