Shingo Izumi: No Current Plans for a Mega Man Legends Collection, But It's Possible

In an interview with RPG Site, Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection producer Shingo Izumi was asked about the possibility of a Mega Man Legends collection, now that every other Mega Man series has been re-released on modern platforms.

RPG Site: I have to ask this. You will have now released Mega Man Legacy Collections of the Classic, X, Zero, ZX, Battle Network, and Star Force series. Only the Mega Man Legends series remains. Are you also planning to release a Mega Man Legends Legacy Collection?

Shingo Izumi: At this time, there are no plans to do so. However, as mentioned in a prior response, when we consider new collection projects in the future, a Mega Man Legends collection would also be one of the possible candidates.

While this may be a little frustrating to hear, plans can change. The demand for a hypothetical Legends Legacy Collection is certainly there. Leaving it behind feels like a missed opportunity.

For now, Izumi and his team are focused on Dual Override, so we’ll have to wait and see what the future holds.

    1. This. Izumi gave a PR answer, non-committal either way. PR would never say “yeah, we’re making it” or “no, we’re never making it.”

I guess it’s good he was even asked the question, reinforces the idea in his mind.

  2. Legends deserve a remake, not a legacy collection...

  3. Legends would be their most involved project bar none, even if it was just Legends 1. I do think a Legends 1 remaster proper would be the way to go, though. Limited scope, the stylized art doesn't need to be too crazy beyond using similar techniques to the PSX original with 3DS-PS2 quality models and textures. Would give them room to experiment with controls and any gameplay changes/refocuses in a smaller title. Could be sold for less than full price, which is quite enticing in the middle of a recession full of 70-80 dollar games...

  4. At worst if it happens we get two games. Maybe they'd throw us a bone and include Misasventures. Head in the clouds, they'd include that episode that was released in Japan only as well.

  5. It would be silly to never tap into the Legends fanbase, but I understand the desire to focus on their new, presumably flagship upcoming project in DO. A legacy collection/remake/whatever should rarely be prioritized over new content.
