Capcom has quietly confirmed a Rockman collaboration with hololive in Japan. The teaser appeared on Capcom’s official amusement campaign site over the weekend, with Rockman announced as the first entry in the company’s 2026 hololive collaboration lineup.
At the moment, Capcom has not announced which hololive talents are involved or what the collaboration will actually include. Based on where the teaser was posted, this looks to be tied to Capcom’s amusement and retail side in Japan, so goods, prize items, or store campaign material seem most likely.
For those unfamiliar, hololive is a major VTuber agency operated by Cover Corporation. Its roster is made up of virtual streamers and performers who appear in livestreams, concerts, merchandise campaigns, and crossover promotions with other brands.
We’ll keep an eye out for the full reveal and update you when more information is announced.

ReplyDeleteThe short answer is probably that Capcom noticed a famous dog girl and a famous cat girl working their way through the legacy collections, so they decided to pounce on the opportunity. The dog girl, Korone, even has a history of advertising games by, say, working with Sega to promote Sonic the Hedgehog, who has traditionally had a lot of trouble gaining a foothold in Japan.
DeleteIt was a rhetorical question, to be honest. I guess I'm in the minority on thinking this is all very strange.
DeleteYou do you, i guess.
DeleteProbably the best way to think of Hololive is as a group of Muppets. Vtubers/virtual livestreamers are basically the next evolution of the puppet show format, only the puppets are digital and often have heavy anime influence, and agencies like Hololive consist of earnest amateurs who dance and sing while desperately trying to manage the chaos around them. They all got into showbiz to make people happy and no matter what technical difficulties or disasters occur, the show somehow manages to go on.
ReplyDeleteThey have their thumbs in pretty much every form of media, so if the Love Live concert is too boring or overwrought, try playing Chrono Gear: Warden of Time instead. If you find livestreams a slog, watch clips of their highlights instead. It's like Touhou where you're guaranteed to find them in some form that appeals to you.
Eh, parasocial relationships have issues no matter what sort of avatar it's attached to.
DeleteI personally discovered the Hololive brand 6 years ago during the COVID Lockdown, and it proved to be a welcome distraction between finishing my college academics and trying to survive the End of the World. Their characters are set into different branches based on generation debuts, the largest being the Japanese, followed by English & Indonesian; most of the talents are ladies, but there is a couple of guy groups that streams on YouTube. Based on the color scheme and the character designs, I'm certain the talents in the teaser are the GAMERS talents, with the light-blue "Shirakami Fubuki" the kitsune (or fox), the red is "Ookami Mio" the wolf, the yellow "Inugami Korone" the dog, & the purple "Nekomata Okayu" the cat. I think this will be a welcome collaboration with Capcom.
Delete@RSProtoMan I understand the sentiment. But then you're missing out on comedy gold like Mori Calliope doing her best Coffeezilla impersonation as she confronts Ouro Kronii over her kroniicoin cryptocurrency. And that sketch formed when Kronii's YouTube channel was hacked to promote crypto. Once the immediate disaster was resolved, they twisted the incident to their advantage.
DeleteYes, ha ha. I'm sure it's very funny. Ha ha. Ha.
DeleteThe only vtuber I like is MoomooClover. There's way too many anime vtubers and I don't have any interest in sifting through them all. Don't bother giving me recommendations - I don't like it when people are pushy.
Deleterockman collaborations tend to just be 8-bit OCs
ReplyDeleteThat's great news! They're popular in Japan and more eyes on the series is good. Okayu, the purple cat one got recently into X series.
ReplyDeleteEveryday, we stray further from God’s light…
ReplyDeletei'm cool with this... Its kinda whatever but if it gets more people into the franchise, that means megaman is getting more attention
ReplyDeleteLooks like a collaboration with Bluey 😂
