Official Rockman X DiVE Art Book Coming in December

Listings for a Rockman X DiVE Illustration Collection artbook have been spotted on Amazon Japan and Rakuten, ahead of any official announcement from Capcom Japan.

The 256-page treasure book is set to offer a rich array of content, including illustrations, character models, setting images, skill icons, and even some previously unreleased artwork that was originally intended for the game but didn't quite make the final cut. Artwork based on collaboration characters that didn't make it into Rockman X DiVE Offline, such as those from Monster Hunter, Street Fighter, Devil May Cry, will also be featured.

But, wait! There's more! To complement all this lovely material, the book will feature brand-new interviews and commentary from members of the development team. And to top it off, it will come wrapped in a cover adorned with fresh artwork by Keisuke Mizuno.

Rockman X DiVE Illustration Collection is expected to release on December 18th, 2023. We'll keep you posted as more details (and images) become available.

    1. What is that about missing the numbers? Please, tell me more.

    2. They released a comic con exclusive collection art book of the complete works and x complete works that were numbered. come black friday they magically had the sold out book again but the numbered 1-100 weren't included aka they just reprinted the book. When I asked about this they first said " we found extra stock because we just pack everything up and don't know what we have." When I posted about them showing up on ebay with no numbers they blocked me on facebook lol. Udon sucks.

    3. I'm more annoyed with Udon for starting the Mastermix comics and never finishing them, they were beautiful color versions of the Ariga manga. Not only that, but they also announced they were doing the MMX Mega Mission one-shot a few years back, said things were progressing well but needed more time, then just dropped it.

    4. Ah, I see. Thank you very much for replying. Gonna be wary of them.

    5. They probably dropped Master Mix because it did not sell. 🙄 At least in my case it's not like I already didn't have a nice, clean B&W copy.

Udon released some books I never would have got a chance to read otherwise, like all 3 volumes of the most recent Record of Lodoss War manga, a very niche franchise with few releases of the entire library available in the west.

    6. Haven't heard the name 'Record of Lodoss War' in quite a while. Neat.

    7. Right, I would guess Mastermix not selling well as the reason for dropping it. Udon likely also realized Mega Mission wasn't going to be worth the printing cost either.

Archie also got on my nerves for never finishing the TPB versions of their comic line.

    8. Udon is kind of a crap publisher anyway, they didn't want to translate any of the other Mega Man or X mangas because their excuse was "the art is too retro". There was a article on here about 10 years ago asking them about it.

    9. man, Record Of Lodoss War...I wasn't aware Udon had published volumes of that recently. But then again, it's not everyday I'm searching of that anyway. Nice to know though, might have to look into that myself.

    10. It was an adaption of Crown of the Covenant. 3rd and final book came out just a few weeks ago. Takes place 100 years after the original story. It's not a complete adaption, I think it only adapts one book. Which I assume is all that was finished at the time. It's also got a Metroidvania video game prequel, called ROLW Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth that's not too bad but a bit short and on consoles in the west.

I do wish the original novels would get released. So far, only The Grey Witch was and that was it. It apparently also did not sell well. But there are several stories, even more if you include Legend of Crystania, Rune Soldier and now Crown of the Covenant.

Not too shabby for a D&D replay.

  5. I'm honestly really looking forward to this book, I didn't get into the game all that much because the gacha elements really put me off but the art in the game is really nice.

    1. If you're interested in the game but don't like the gacha elements, the Offline version is by far the superior way to play. The gacha got straight up Thanos snapped out of the game.

    2. I might try the offline version on Steam eventually.

    3. The original "online" version was intended to be played in time-released bursts rather than all at once, meaning that new players "had to" start using their Metals or just sit and wait. The Offline version does away with this method of content delivery. You still have to level up, but doing so isn't as much of a chore or a bore.

Wait 'til it goes on sale if you're not so sure about it, Anon. Otherwise, just take a peek at some gameplay / Let's Play videos. The changes are very surprising and don't alter the core gameplay, but do make the game a much smoother experience!

    4. As an addendum to Jo Li KMC's info, the Offline version also has a page on the Nexus mods site. There's a few QoL mods, content restoration, some neat little enhancers such as the mod that makes character art represent the currently equipped skin, and a whole bunch of other cool mods such as new weapons and skins that don't replace existing ones and such. I'd definitely recommend looking into the modding scene if you're looking for that extra oomph to enrich the experience.

    5. The mods for it sound great, I’ll definitely be keeping a eye out for a sale for the offline PC version. I did briefly play the original online version but the grind was brutal so what you guys are describing sounds like a big improvement.

  6. Kinda interested in this one; mostly the interviews/commentary peak my interests. Down to see any early concept art as well.

  7. Wonder if the original "Capcom Secret File #5" version of Swimsuit Roll will be in there somewhere…

No, this isn't just "me being me". She was the only character who received a redesign due to "content rating system" issues, so it would be interest if that design made it into the book.

  8. A crappy moe art book on the 30th anniversary, yay!
