Udon is Planning a Mega Man Battle Network One-Shot Comic

In a new interview with ShadowRockZX, Udon Entertainment’s Matt Moylan revealed that Capcom asked Udon last year if they had plans to do anything with Mega Man Battle Network. The catch is that Udon’s answer was basically: “We didn’t think we were allowed to.”

But things are different now. Moylan says Capcom made it clear that Battle Network AND Star Force are fair game, and that whatever restrictions existed in the past are no longer an issue. He even pointed back to Udon’s older Mega Man Tribute era, where they were explicitly told those characters were off-limits. His explanation is that it likely stemmed from older anime/manga-related licensing complications with Viz and Shogakukan, but those hurdles appear to be gone .

Moylan tossed out a couple additional details on what’s coming next:

  • The Free Comic Book Day 2026 bonus Mega Man Battle Network story will be written by David Oxford and will be 8 pages long.

  • A separate Battle Network one-shot is currently being planned as well, and Moylan teased that it’s being handled by a “big name.” Your guess is as good as mine.

  • As for Star Force, nothing else has been said yet beyond its inclusion in the excellent Mega Man Legends Timelines Cover D variant, and that there are no longer any restrictions from Capcom.

More updates on this front as it comes!

  1. An eight page one shot, huh? Let me guess, still no CrashMan EXE? How Capcom isn’t tired of disobeying me after 20 years is beyond me.

  5. I feel so out of the loop. One moment all I hear about the franchise are one game coming out, a failed cartoon being created and news (?) about a cancelled MMSF4. Then a few years pass and suddenly the Mega Man phone games that were thought to be lost media are found and translated, there are new comic books about every version of Mega Man and a new game on top of Legacy collections of Battle Network and Star Force.
Did I went back in time and didn't realize it? LMAO
