Secret Level Mega Man Early Art Style Concept Art

More concept art from the Secret Level episode Mega Man: Start has come to light, this time from Callum Strachan, an Art Director at Nexus Studios

Callum’s work comes from the show’s early pre-production phase, when the team was experimenting with different art directions. These concepts span lighter, more playful interpretations before giving way to the grounded, realistic style Blur Studio ultimately chose for the finished short. Check 'em out below!

It’s worth noting that these images prominently feature Gamma, who was originally planned to appear in the short instead of Bomb Man. These pieces also lend weight to the idea that the early cut of the short was conceived as a longer project. Several set pieces take place after the credits, showing Mega Man heading out into the streets of Mega City.

  1. They should have stuck with Gamma. Neat pics, though.

  2. Really like that last render of Gamma. Same energy as the Sentinels from X-Men. Light intended Gamma as a peacekeeping robot after all…

  3. I now wish that the episode was longer! I'm hoping there's another Mega Man episode in secret level season two! I want to know what happens next!

  4. I would've like to see the classic design in the animation but, I respect the fact they changed the design while still showing the love they have for it.

  5. With the amount of content being revealed post episode, it'll be sad if none of it is ever expanded upon in season 2 or by some other means.
