16 Minutes of Off-Screen Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection Gameplay

Word has it that Capcom is keeping a tight lid on filming the Star Force Legacy Collection demo at Tokyo Game Show—you need explicit permission to record. Still, YouTube user east9698 was able to capture about 16 minutes of gameplay from Star Force 1 (Dragon).

Some observations:

  • Fuyuka Oura voices Geo/Subaru, and Kentaro Ito voices Omega-Xis/War-Rock. It’s unclear whether this is new audio or remastered.
  • The title screen animation isn’t just an upscale of the DS version—it’s been fully remade.
  • Renaming Geo is no longer possible, likely to maintain consistency across all three games.
  • When navigating in-game menus, interactions between the bottom and top screens are automatic; you don’t need to manually switch between them.
  • The vertical screen display option (tate mode) is clearly designed to replicate the original Nintendo DS presentation.

  • Free Camera can be used at any time, which is especially useful when exploring Wave Roads.
  • As previously confirmed, Geo’s default movement speed can be adjusted, and you can really see it in action here!

As for when we might see direct feed footage, it’s anyone’s guess. Capcom has been slowly releasing screenshots over the past few days, and a panel with the game’s producer is scheduled for this Sunday. So sometime between now and then seems likely.

  1. This looks like the best Legacy Collection yet so far and that's saying something because its honestly been really sharp stuff since Zero/ZX LC, and Battle Network Legacy Collection was incredible.

I understand they want to preserve the original experiences to some extent but I'm honestly hoping for a few changes to Star Force 1, namely making the charge shot function as it does in Star Force 2 and 3 where using a battle card doesn't reset/make you lose charge.

Making it so the music doesn't reset after battles, so it's easier to hear an entire stage BGM without halting play, and lastly maybe making it so the boss intros play even when encountering an EX or SP boss, as opposed to the original game where they just spawn in similar to a virus encounter, these were implemented in Star Force DX, and are standard in Star Force's two sequels so hopefully something like it can be done for Legacy Collection, small things like this go a long way!
