Review: Jada Toys Mega Man Wave 1 (Mega Man, Fire Man, Ice Man)

A new Mega Man toy line has hit the scene with Jada Toys' first wave of Mega Man figures! Were these highly anticipated figures worth the wait? Join me after the break as we look into the first wave of Jada Toys' Mega Man line!

Products were purchased from BigBadToyStore. Please check them out!

Wave 1  consists of Mega Man, Fire Man, and Ice Man, each coming with effect pieces, swappable hands, and swappable heads with different facial expressions. What sets this line apart is its meticulous attention to detail. Every minuscule element is meticulously crafted, resulting in a truly captivating collection. Priced at an MSRP of $19.99 USD per figure, the value proposition is simply exceptional. However, aesthetics alone can't define a line's worth; what about the articulation? I'm pleased to confirm that the articulation surpasses expectations, delivering an experience that exceeds the norm.

While not every pose may be feasible, these figures are adept at striking all the key poses you'll want.  With several points of articulation and a very sturdy build, you're sure to have a fun time posing these to set up a dynamic display.

Another fun thing about these figures is that both the default and alternate faces are directly based on official art. Can you spot which art was used for each face?

Let's cover each figure in a bit more detail starting with the Blue Bomber himself. If you're on the hunt for a figure capturing the essence of NES/Famicom era Mega Man, then this is the guy for you. The darker blue armor has a nice shine and subtle shading, and it looks really nice in the light.

The default face portrays Mega Man in his signature cheerful demeanor, just like you'd expect him to be. Mega Man also comes with an interchangeable Mega Buster and a yellow blast effect, complete with an adjustable stand. For anyone that owns the recently-released Kotobukiya Mega Man 11 Ver. Mega Man, you'll notice that Jada's offering is a bit smaller, though it is in scale with Jada's Street Fighter line. Overall, Mega Man is definitely a solid baseline figure.

Next in line, we have Fire Man. This figure comes with an alternate angry expression, a Fire Storm effect piece accompanied by an adjustable stand, and additional fire pieces that can be interchanged between his Busters and his heads. These fire pieces add so much expression to Fire Man since each piece is shaped differently, so get creative when posing him! The likeness is spot-on, and the extra armor over the shoulders do not hinder articulation at all as they are connected to the arms rather than the chest piece.

Finally, we have Ice Man. Ice Man includes alternate hands for creating some of his more famous poses, an alternate head for "shooting" the Ice Slasher, and the Ice Slasher itself, again with an adjustable stand. Jada was sure to include every detail on Ice Man, including the often overlooked backpack and latch on his hood. The white armor has a nice shine to it, while the blue parts are matte; this makes the more mechanical parts of the design really pop!

And that wraps up Jada Toys' first Mega Man wave. With an abundance of extras and meticulous attention to detail, even in the smallest features, it's safe to say that these figures more than justify their asking price!

The second wave, consisting of Cut Man, Elec Man, and Hyper Bomb Mega Man is already available for pre-order, due out in October 2024. They'll be here before you know it, so be sure to pre-order ASAP!

  6. These are the sort of Rockman figures I have been waiting for my whole life; they're the figures I *really* wanted when the Ruby Spears figures were released, but I never thought I'd get anything better. We are living in the golden age of action figure collecting!

  7. I don't like the faces honestly... I understand they wanted to use both classic and completel work's style but the choose between them is too limited... Plus I find some of them ugly like Megaman's angry face and Fireman's classic face... I wish another toy line release these guys like kotobukiya... Maybe with more faces and in a major scale because these guys also look very small

    1. So basically you’d rather pay $80-$100 per figure instead of $20?
