Although Kotobukiya's Mega Man X 30th anniversary stream was postponed, the manufacturer has moved forward to announce Falcon Armor X's release date: May 2024. This handsome fellow is now available to pre-order from Kotobukiya directly. More retailers are set to accept reservations shortly. (UPDATE: Up on HobbyLink Japan and AmiAmi)
Falcon Armor X includes three interchangeable face parts (Default/Looking Forward, Teeth Clenched, and Shouting/Looking Forward), along with four distinct hand parts (Closed, Open, Support, Weapon Holding), a Buster part, and an interchangeable Arm Crystal. This Crystal swap enhances wrist flexibility, broadening the figure's range of motion. Interestingly, there are no Buster effect parts.

It looks pretty good, not sure if I'll be getting the Falcon or not but it's great for those who are fans of the armor. Kinda hope we get the Ultimate Armor ,Gaea and Shadow Armor.
ReplyDeleteFunny, there is no mention of any shots/effects part. That’s unfortunate. Likely they will release another version shortly after including a charged shot.
ReplyDeleteKnowing Kotobukiya it will probably be a slightly metallic version with shot parts. Kinda sucks that they don’t just release optional accessory packs like they do with their other model kits. I’d rather not rebuy the same kit for blast effects, and so far I haven’t.

ReplyDeleteBTW, the MM11 Ver model is out now. It's a pretty snazzy little kit. But it's not cross-compatible with the original model. You cant swap the head pieces between the two because the neck ball joint are different diameters.
I’m actually strongly considering getting the mm 11 kit, since I don’t have much for classic series Mega Man figures. Kinda hoping they do a Rush kit at some point to go with him.
DeleteI just finished building the MM11 kit, and it's honestly my favorite Kotobukiya kit in this line since the original 4 (Rock, Blues, Roll, Zero).
DeleteI'm not a huge fan of the clear parts -- Kotobukiya just isn't putting any thought into what is visible behind them -- but after I backed them with foil tape they look pretty great. (I would have preferred a darker red, though these ones glow under UV light.) The pre-painted faces look great, and the lined mouths are an improvement.
The engineering is quite a bit better than the pile of X kits I've built; MM11 just feels more solid overall. The way the hair fits together is pretty neat, and I love the increased shoulder mobility with the butterfly joints.
Lots of under-gates, but still a few gates that don't make any sense ... like why aren't the foot soles under-gated? Dark plastic, gates right on the visible edges ... and then there are lots of other under-gates on interior parts which don't need them. My shin and forearm seams are virtually invisible, and I love that the exterior thigh parts are one piece.
I'm not going to risk tearing down my older kits. But what I can, I am painting the insides of the clear parts white, where it works. Like the feet parts. It makes a bit of an improvement. I tried silver once, but I couldn't tell the difference.

DeleteI've been using HVAC Nashua tape -- actual adhesive foil -- where I can to back the clear parts, and I think it looks really great. I also tried silver paint once, and even tried Molotow liquid chrome directly on the back of the clear parts, but neither gave the effect I sought. (Molotow is only chrome on the exposed surface.) I have sometimes painted the parts/areas behind the clear parts with Molotow chrome, and that looks great, but the foil tape achieves the same effect, is faster, and less messy.
What brand of paint do you guys use these days? I was thinking of trying out Tamiya.

DeleteTamiya German Grey is perfect for painting the X body dark grey colors, like around where the arm meets the shoulder, that weren't pre-painted or molded in color. Whenever I need to paint dark grey on X that's what I use.
I am not a very good painter. I just enjoy the build and 3D stuff cause it keeps me busy.
I'll be getting 8 of these just like the rest and will complete the entire line of boss abilities ty Koto for being the only source of actual quality because anything else Capcom has their hand in for the MegaMan series is complete failure while the other the hand rests in a jar of mediocrity.at least one of my hobbies is fed but the rest of the fan base is starving crapcom.
ReplyDeleteThat’s why I keep saying that Mega Man is no longer a game series, it’s basically a glorified toy and merchandise line at this point. I still buy the figures but lack of new games is depressing.

DeleteI use to have a MegaMan IG by the name of Rockborne you can see some of my early stuff there still but none of my new stuff. If MegaMan starts being an actual game series again I might start it back up again and do more customs for people like last time but till then I'm focused on another series atm and just buying Koto MegaMan stuff till it runs dry. I bleeping love Koto.
