"Shironeko Project New World's" and Rockman Collaboration Announced

Shironeko Project New World's, the free-to-play action RPG game developed by Colopl for Android and iOS, has just revealed the last character in their "Three Major Character Collaboration" event, and it's none other than Rockman.

Rockman will close the event, which began with Baki Hanma from Baki the Grappler, followed by Maple from Bofuri: I Don't Want to Get Hurt, so I'll Max Out My Defense, and now culminates with the game's second collaboration with the Rockman series.

Find all the details after the break!

Rockman joins the battle as an archer with a non-attribute bow. He comes with two skills, "Metal Blade" which attacks by releasing circular blades in succession and “Flame Sword”, an attack that charges forward and causes an explosion.

Rockman will be available starting tomorrow, November 2nd. As you can see in the video above, he'll be fighting a peculiar set of bosses: Gang Man, Business Man, Ball Man, Claw Man, Strong Man, Wizard Man, NewYear Man and Sting Man.

If you want to see a detailed video of his skills and mechanics, you can do so here!

This marks the second collaboration between Shironeko Project and the Rockman series. In 2021, the collaboration was with Rockman X DiVE, introducing X, Zero, and Iris to the game. If you'd like to refresh your memory, you can find more details here.

    1. Mega Man 2 is a bad game.
PD: MMX4 cancer is back again.

    2. MM2 is fine and X4 is great. What are you smoking?

    3. Mega Man 2 has garbage level design, and is the very definition of overrated.

    4. It's no masterpiece or anything but it's fine, especially as a product of its time. I'm a bigger fan of the ones with slide and charge shot personally, but MM2 is still plenty enjoyable. MM1 is the real garbage.

    5. I disagree. In fact, I'd take MM1 over 2 any day.

    6. Sure, it is all subjective, but X4 is nice in gameplay and I like the PS1 visuals over he SNES for MMX. As for classic, I think overall, they get better after each one. I think MM3 is better than MM2, and 2 has more variety than 1 (1 seems a bit lame vs the ones after, yet more difficult). I like the charge shot, so one of a few reasons I like later games more. I like MM8 quite a bit and wish 9 and 10 kept the 32bit or beyond style, Rockman and Forte should have kept the good sound and music quality and particle effects and explosions of MM8. Also 9 and 10 should have kept sliding and charge shot since it is a little lame in gameplay without those moves.

When fighting bosses in general, sticking with just the charge shot and often avoiding the use of special weapons can make the battle funner from a gameplay and challenge perspective unless there is some neat special effects when using special weak point weapons on the bosses (MM7 or X games' animations can make some special weapons against bosses fun though). But even the charge shot impact effect on the boss in SNES and PSX games has a satisficing graphical effect.

    8. X4 is a** easy tho, I'll tell you that much.

    9. But X5 doesn't take you back to the level's beginning like X4 and most MM games do. In X4, you lose all your lives and then you get a legit game over by having to restart the stage from the beginning (in that way, harder), which actually means something, but in X5 and X6, since you always go back to a checkpoint when you lose all lives, it makes lives and game overs a bit meaningless.

    10. 2 is a rather messy game (and honestly, so is 3) but what does that have to do with the announcement? This is a collaboration with some other game and it's likely that the weapon choice is because of the Smash Bros moveset, given the inclusion of Flame Sword. 2 is a well known game, so the Metal Blade being included is understandable, same for X4.

    11. If someone is getting gameovers in X4, I question their age and how long they've been playing video games. The only level lower than X4 is Kirby. If your game is Kirby level? Well... Good luck to you in life, of you are getting gameovers in those.

    12. I'm sure people have gotten game overs in many games here and there, though I often do not, but I recall in the 90s, getting them on that game too occasionally. But in any case, what does that have to do with age or how they do in life? It is a game, nothing more. If anything, people who judge someone solely based on whether or not they got a game over in some nebulous games and go on about age over that are the ones who should have their maturity questioned. That is like those who call people stupid, etc, just because they disagree over a dragon ball anime on youtube or name call them over a story line detail. Those are the types who are immature and I would question their personal qualities or mental faculties.

I guarantee most people never even played MM games and would lose badly to them, but yes, I agree it is not that hard, still not wise to judge someone or question their life based on that as that comes across as someone who does nothing but plays game all the time and might lack a life or be quite young. No doubt people who I know who do well in life would fail badly at the game and are far older than any of us here. So that logic falls flat.

Point was, a game can be too easy if they don't go back to the beginning after losing all lives. Hell, I remember a time when you go back to the beginning of a game if you lose all lives and there was no saving, though games like Donkey Kong Country later on were very generous in comparison, not just with all the 1ups, but saving. I played and beat games like Ninja Gaiden on the NES at 6 years old, and it doesn't let you turn in mid air and the respawning of enemies on that game is crazy. But that has nothing to do with age or how one does in life. Don't generalize or assume too much about people, especially over a game if you want to look sophisticated and mature. Far more to life than a game, and far more important things to excel at in life to judge one's character over. Take the more serious things more seriously and the less series things less seriously is my advice. A game is not serious, hence the word 'game'.

    13. Sure you do buddy, sure you do...

    14. Saying 'sure you do' is vague and says nothing as that can be referencing anything. I don't even know what you are referring to. Of course not that I care since why the hell respond after 3 weeks? Just couldn't resist, huh? My advice is move on. The rest of us have. Worse still, the site allowing people to call themselves anonymous creates confusion and ideally the comments section should require a user name. Harder to take someone seriously if they don't identify themselves with a consistent username. Time to move on already instead of snarky last word one liners, I would hope. No more replies from me in this thread regardless.

    16. Gary, I'll have to completely disagree about a game not qualifying as serious considering chess is a thing. It could be argued that in chess's case it's taken more serious than other traditional games like say, tic tac toe for example because of its strategic gameplay that's similar to military tactics and the fact that a certain secret society uses a variation of it. Videogames could also fall under this category not so much because of tournaments, but because they can be used to develop other skills like simulations or certain shooting games. A modified version of Doom 2 for example was used by the marine corps for training purposes. Call of Duty is used for recruitment as well if I recall correctly, but enough said.

    17. Sure, I know some people make games serious, like poker and involving money into it. But often the word 'game' comes across as 'let's have fun'. Many take them too seriously. Often times they shouldn't be taken as seriously as some often do. Some people get into fist fights over it if their team loses in sports, which seems tribal and trivial and quite frankly childish. I would say often times, a game shouldn't be taken seriously (in the sense that many do; though should try to do a good job for fun) and should be about having fun. whether or not someone does take it seriously is a different matter. Not sure if the word 'game' should be used if it is serious though if there is some better word. Maybe calling it 'challenge' or 'competition' or 'trial' would have more serious connotations.

    2. We are never getting a new Mega Man game because of Capcoms unrealistic sales expectations. All Capcom wants to make now is Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, Street Fighter.

    3. And Devil May Cry, and Dragon's Dogma, and Ghost&Goblins and Exo Primal, and Pragmata and Kunitsu-Gami and (ten games later)...

      Delete
    4. They aren't making new Devil May Cry games, it's been years since 5 was released. Literally all they care about is Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, Street Fighter.

    5. Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat literally got released 5 months ago but OK... Also of course it's been years since Devil May Cry 5, what do you want, them to release every year like Resident Evil even though it doesn't sell as much? Street Fighter 5 released 7 years before Street Fighter 6. It's not even been 5 years since the last mainline DmC. A AAA game like that has a cycle of like 5 years dev time. In fact DmC5 had at least 5 years of dev time and production has probably gotten even harder and more time consuming/expensive since then.

You also are gonna ignore Dragon's Dogma 2 (another AAA game), Pragmata (another AAA game and new IP) Exoprimal (a substantial live service online centric game) and Kunitsu (a random AA new IP)? Yup just Resident Evil, Monster Hunter and Street Fighter...

    6. Another point you probably should have mentioned, they don't usually start development right after a new game releases. Sometimes they wait years before even starting development on the next entry. Big name dev studios these days simply just take longer and spend more money on game development, and even more unfortunately devs don't always work fair hours or get paid fair wages. The fact of the matter is, these things take time. We're not living in the 2000's anymore when a new game in the same series could get released annually.

  6. Some details missed out from this article.
The Collabs of Mega Man x Shironeko and X DiVE x Shironeko are run on different servers actually.
The X DiVE Collab was limited to the Taiwan Server of Shironeko, which is not run by COLOPL but instead operated as an authorized distribution service by Sony's Taiwan subsidiary So-net Entertainment Taiwan.
On the other hand, the Mega Man Collab is run by COLOPL themselves as the developer & operator of Shironeko Project's Japan Server, so it's actually a Japan-only Collab.
