"MAXIMUM MASSIMO" Joins the Global Version of Mega Man X DiVE

The global version of Mega Man X DiVE continues to carve its own path, surprising players with a new character not available in the Taiwanese or Japanese versions of the game. In the same vein as S-Class Hunter X and S-Class Hunter Zero, Massimo is getting his own S-rank version.

Find all the details after the break!

MAXIMUM MASSIMO will be available on the NA and EU servers starting tomorrow and the banner will be available for a week with a free 10-pull. Similar to what happened with X and Zero, you should not expect any significant change on how he looks; the character is basically B-rank Massimo promoted to S-rank that comes with upgraded active skills and five passive skills.

Barring any last minute change, here's a rundown on his skills. We couldn't get the damage percentage of the active skills so they are marked as '???'.

ACTIVE SKILLS

★MAXIMUM Whirlwind

Inflicts ???% attack damage to targets within range. Acquire shield after hitting the target.

1. Shield Enhancement
Increases the damage mitigation capacity by the shield's 25%.

2. Mobility
Reduce preparation time by 20%.

3. MAXIMUM Power Increase
Increase damage rate by 20%.

★MAXIMUM Berserker Charge

Shoot a huge beam forward, inflicting ???% attack damage to the targets within range.

1. MAXIMUM Power Increase
Increase damage rate by 20%.

2. Protective Shield
Acquire a shield when used that can negate damage equal to 200% of MAXIMUM Massimo's attack.

3. Steel Body
Remain invincible during the activation of MAXIMUM Berserker Charge.

PASSIVE SKILLS

1. MAXIMUM Defense
Decrease damage taken by 30% when equipped with a Melee or Launcher weapon.

2. MAXIMUM Damage Boost
Increase damage by 25% when equipped with a Launcher or Melee weapon.

3. MAXIMUM Rage
When below 50% HP, reduce damage taken by 30%.

4. BOSS STOMPER
Increase damage by 20% when attacking a Boss. Receive a 50% chance to gain a 8% damage increase after being hit and can stack up to 6 times.

5. MAXIMUM Reset
MAXIMUM Berserker Charge can be activated repeatedly. This can only trigger once every 8 seconds.

It's no secret that Massimo got the short stick in Mega Man X DiVE with no alts whatsoever. So even if this may not be what all Massimo fans dreamed of, at least it's something.

    1. Yes. Obviously he is not the most important character in the franchise, but there are people who played command mission and liked the character.

    2. My thoughts exactly lol Massimo is horrible in game play and character design.

    3. No more horrible than "cute" blonde big eyed loli-woman hybrid no.20,000,0081... He's like the only playable big guy archetype in the whole entire game.

  2. Sucks it took this long to give Massimo an S style and it's simply his original B upgraded. Poor guy can't catch a break.

    3. Why would you call the offline version trash when it’s surprisingly awesome?

      Delete
    4. I'd never spend money on it. What would you even do? Just max out characters and weapons on repeat runs of the same levels? It's like a failed concept of monster hunter only far more limited and shallow. It's a phone game? Cool I understood the limitations compared to MH but I also know feeding a starving fan base with garbage isn't favorable to those that understand a products worth VS fan boy auto acceptance. When did Capcom fans start adopting Nintendo fans way of life lol?

      Delete
    5. The limitations you're talking about only exist between your ears. There's plenty to do in the game without it getting repetitive, and there's no requirement to go for 100%. You can easily fit in 15+ hours of playtime without things getting repetitive just by playing through story mode, progressing through Jakobs, doing the Race levels, etc. Only unlock the characters/weapons you care about, the resources you need to do so are dropped on your lap without you having to grind the same things over and over.

If you're going to be a critic, at least play the thing you're criticizing first so that you have the bare minimum of knowing what you're talking about.

      Delete
    6. Story, jakobs,.....they're all the same as online. Capcom is just milking us again on the way out.

      Delete
    7. They're not the same. Everything was overhauled and rebalanced. Power level recommendations were reduced, there's little to no reason to replay stages you've already beaten, you can retry Jakobs stages infinitely without worrying about characters being unusable, etc. The game is now a true proper offline single player experience.

    8. @ anon sep 23 3:06 - 15 hours ain't worth 30$ lol you praised paying double for less 🤣. Limitations between my ears? You step in hypocrisy that easily everyday or just when people speak the truth about what you like? I played X Dive for a few weeks when it launched in the East I even checked up on the updates but was never interested in shorter stages than Classic MegaMan not to mention their events were whatever and the content was awful especially the MH content X looked sooo bad lol. Upgrading weapons and characters was slower than most other gotcha games say except for the ones that have 7 + differnt upgrade menues for several different components etc but you said the they shortened the time to earn rewards? Isnt (((earning))) the rewards the whole point of the game and the reason people buy video games? Rewards/to be challanged? And why shorten the grind when the method of it was mediocre and heavier than it needed to be? Simple answer is crapcom knew it was a sore spot for the community and to help sell the offline removed the grind entirely from what you say lol. But the fact is crapcom was greedy like always and sold you over priced shallow efforts. Other gotcha games lived longer and thats because they are run more respectably the fact X Dive shutdown and everyones coming out about how crappy it was speaks for itself the fact crapcom wanted to sell a offline version for more money means it didnt make enough. Wait wait let me guess its being sold as an offline because it did well? Why 30? As a free to play shouldnt it have been 15 or even less to get the best out of consumer quantity? After all developing that app took only 1 butt cheek slapping half the keyboard to bring it to life. Absolutely 0 imagination and no real story or something that doesnt deserve to be called a story at the very least lol. Also maybe dont "assume" ive never played it just because you are upset it is obvious i have but i had higher expectations because where i eat daily isnt out of a bowl with my name on it on the floor. Enjoy what you want just dont ask me to drink 82 liquid ounces of bleach to match peoples current attention span and favorite hobby of tunnel vision. I dont need my opinion to match others for self inflicted false hive mind behaviors im not lonely enough. You need to start appreciating facts over Faces. At least a dog has an excuse to like everyone because its color blind but there is no excuse for valuing less than what you deserve and what others deserve if they are going to support you as a company. And with how shady "good business" is these days how hard is it to accept crapcom is giving you below the bare minimum of respect as a consumer? Open your eyes or dont again just dont ask me to jog on down to cough syrup land. Lol.

      Delete
    12. When anger and insults are your reply instead of making actual points against me it isn't because my argument had no merit rofl! Reactions are as much of an honest answer as any. Next time just dont give yourself away and don't say "it wasn't worth it" after falling down like that no excuse will do lol. And no I don't think this is Twitter I thought this was a place for discussion and honesty about the series and for the discussions to amount to no more than "Yes men" its honestly common to say the least. How are you all making the series improve when it does no wrong? That's what you call the refining process in almost anything to leave things out like critical thinking and self respect and without those how do you amount to anything but a stagnant Yes man who's opinion is always painted thr same color? It's easier to fool people and take their money for almost little to no effort when they can't think for themselves or have an opinion that is absolute and never changing and expects nothing else. Gaming IPs thrive off brain dead fans and only because nothing new needs to be implemented "speed gear power gear" is such a common place idea that what IP hasn't done it? At least Capcom goes green right? Lots of recycling lol. Long conversations are for intellectuals I'm sorry my opinion consists of more than tapping my head on Capcom door step every morning. 😅

    13. The 'deranged drivel' long comment can be simplified like this:
-3:06 anon claimed that the other anon didn't play the game. He did.
      -15 hours isn't $30 worthy.
-Online was very repetitive and upgrading was slower than other gachas.
-Instead of streamlining the grind they shortened the time to get the rewards which defeats the point of videogames.
-$30 for an offline version of a gacha is ridiculous and implies the online version didn't do as well as it's claimed.
      -Story was very poor.
-Having low standards is not something to be proud of and wanting others to have the same low standards leads to a very unhealthy hivemind where anything is allowed.

Not that complicated to understand man.

Wonder if they'll keep doing random updates to the offline version over time...it'd be nice for that fanbase. And I'm curious to know if most people that enjoy the game are vibing with the choice of just doing s-rank versions of pre-existing characters instead of different versions of said characters or different characters altogether.

    1. If it makes you feel better I wanted to share some speculation about that. We’re all waiting for the next Mega Man thing (Taisen or otherwise) and we’re all pretty jaded due to Capcom not saying anything on the topic. But I’ve recently come to realize that maybe they’re waiting out this year cause it seems every other big developer is putting out games this year.

Mega Man isn’t as niche as some people on here make him out to be. I still think his gaming icon status makes him plenty popular. He can roll with the big guns. He’s in smash. BUT this year has been something else. New Zelda, Final Fantasy, RE4 Remake, Street Fighter 6, etc all came out in the first half. Presently there’s Baldur’s Gate 3 and Starfield not to mention new 2D Mario, 2D Sonic, and Spider-Man 2 for the holidays.

It doesn’t even end there. Tekken in January. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth in February. From existing info we know a new MM is coming. But that is waaaaay too much to compete with. I think MM can coexist with big games on the shelf but even I think that is too many big titles in a short time to even hope for a decent return when vying for people’s money.

If we don’t get anything at all by the time we go through another Capcom cycle of major titles (RE9 or RE5 remake, new MH, DMC, more SF) THEN I really think we’ll be in trouble.

      Delete
    2. Capcom was working on the next mainline title (We don't know whether that means MM12, X9, etc.) back in 2019 before the pandemic hit. Pretty much the entire industry received delays as a result of the pandemic, which is also the reason why we got the Battle Network Legacy Collection this year instead of last year. If the mainline title wasn't silently canceled, which I know there's some here who would jump at the chance to always assume the worst case scenario like it's their fetish or something, then depending on exactly how ambitious they're getting with this title I wouldn't be surprised if we get it either late next year, or late the following year.

But yes, you are correct in regards to Mega Man still being a bigger deal than some are willing to give credit for. The series still isn't as big a deal as other big hitters like Street Fighter or DMC, but Capcom is fully aware that the series is still quite popular and has been making frequent use of the IP for the past decade despite people's biased statements otherwise. Sure, we haven't gotten as many new mainline titles as Capcom was barfing out back in the day when game development was quicker, cheaper, and smaller in scope. However, they have been keeping the IP alive in other ways, such as featuring characters from it in other games such as Marvel vs Capcom and Smash, as well as through the Legacy Collections and spinoffs such as Xover (which I hear wasn't very good. Never played it myself) and X DiVE (A really good game bogged down heavily by live service nonsense. The Offline version is way, way better, just don't expect the story to be any good), and even cameos in other games such as the Mega Buster in DMC5.

    3. Mega Man XOver - 2012-2015
Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite - 9/19/2017 (which, by the way, killed that series)
      Mega Man 11 - 10/2/2018
Super Smash Bros: Ultimate - 12/7/2018
That was just under 5 years ago. Your argument is faulty, but not entirely wrong. The collections are nothing more than re-releases so I am not including those as "promotion".

I'm looking forward to what Kotobukiya and Jada Toys are doing. That is it. I don't even care if they make a new game for Mega Man or pretty much any other brand. I will take a new Tatsunoko vs Capcom if they ever do that, though. That game was great.

      Delete
    4. @Anonymous 9/23

Yeah that pretty much proves my point. Covid delay affected Taisen. But it also affected everyone else, hence all the games came out this year. So I imagine Capcom would pump the breaks a little even if it was ready to be announced. That way they don’t have to compete with every popular franchise on the face of the earth this year lol.

I imagine that’s why all the collections were on deck every year for awhile. I’m optimistic that Taisen is MMX related cause without the Covid delay we would have gotten it by now before the BN collection launched. But maybe I’m getting all the release timings mixed up. Not exactly up to date on all the rumors and leaks.

      Delete
    5. @shrap How are re-releases not promotion? Actually, on that note, what better way is there to promote a series than to make the actual games themselves accessible on modern platforms?

      Delete
    6. Re-releases aren't promotions because the promotional value is truly only in a new fans court not current and existing fans that own the other 57 re-releases at that point its just standard company greed trying to claw at the majorities wallets to buy the Same exact thing with useless bits added and to tempt ignorant newcomers. I don't care if younger people get to play the old games get a job later like the rest of us. Just give us something new and stop obviously over milking it Capcom. People are waking up but not fast enough. You shouldn't need a horse to K.O your manhood 87 times in a row for the brain to send a gd signal. Haha.

      Delete
    7. You're contradicting yourself. Obviously if old fans already have the games and aren't willing to buy them a second time in the collections, then the sales are primarily going to be from people playing the games for the first time, generating new fans in the process. That's literally what promotion is. Therefore your argument is "It's not promotion because it's not promotion I like". You're just making excuses to take jabs at Capcom because you're frustrated about not getting a new game.

      Delete
    8. Why try to aim for primaily new fans unless you knew most of the older ones would buy it to pick the profits up off the floor lol? MegaMan doesnt have enough new releases to intise/attract new generation fans to carry crapcoms crummy ideas themselves instead crapcom milked it (again) leaving the majority of You original fans to play maid and carry the profits across the line. It doesnt make sense new fans contributed the most or that they would be the primary target in fact basic math and simple sales numbers from current and other IP could prove most profits arent from (new fans) but old and current. Sigh. Therefor the value isnt in new blood but loyal blood and from ive seen loayal blood runs cheap and confused these days rofl. And you are 110% correct i dont approve of crapcoms idea of selling a product and i dont approve of taking advantage of people that clearly dont know better for the sake of themselves And others. Im just not that self conceded and im not the only one that matters in my universe naturally I see wrong where it is wrong and its also normal that id take jabs at crapcom because its only normal to cut the head off the snake not let it repopulate and make the situation worse. But i guess it cant get worse for you MegaMan fans youve been cheated lied to throw away devalued openly i mean.. theres no line your GF crapcom can cross you wont forgive so trust me when I say I know Im trying to convert brick into sand with nothing but words. No need to tell me im the one fighting the tidalwave im the only one swimming LOL! Please continue to like what you want and support buisness practices that take advantage of others. Ill do the same and will always be about fairness over profit and i wont make a habit to devalue others loyalty and openly take it for granted (openly). New fans being the majority of profit in a old IP.. HAH! 🤣

At this point, I do not believe that Taisen not even being revealed at this point, let alone released, is because of the pandemic. Enough has happened in the gaming industry to say that we are more or less back on track. Unless Rockman Taisen is/was shaping up to be, like, Elder Scrolls 6 in terms of size and scope, I don't see how the pandemic could have caused the game to be set back by almost five years and counting.

You don't have to be paid to be a shill. Wouldn't surprise me if some do this for pride alone. But pride especially the corrupt kind is nothing worth sacrificing for especially honesty.

      Delete
    5. … and since there is no product to be persuaded to buy literally no one here can be a shill.

      Delete
    6. So you're being intentionally obtuse, got it. The offline Taiwanese version is a product. The NebulaJoy version is a service that you can optionally pay for things like in-game currency. It's not a product but you still buy something even if optionally, it fits the definition.

      Delete
    7. Goodness gracious. This particular thread we are responding within was specifically about Taisen (not an announced game, therefore not a real product) and a joke response was made as thus:

“I'm only curious what kind of excuses these shills would made when no new MM game announced for the next 3 to 5 years lmao”

Insinuating “shills” are “shilling” something on Capcom’s behalf despite there being nothing to shill.

Yes the broader, original post topic is related to Dive Offline but everyone making snide comments about “copium” and “shills” regarding lack of game releases is literally what I’m responding to.

So no, not being intentionally obtuse. Just responding to what is literally being said.

So what exactly do shills have to do with no MM games being announced for “3 to 5 years” and why are they making excuses? Enlighten me, please?

      Delete
    8. “I'm only curious what kind of excuses these shills would made when no new MM game announced for the next 3 to 5 years lmao”
Shills in that context means those that are already shills. Like for the latest current product like Dive. Taisen does not necessarily need to come out.
As for hypothetical future examples if no game is released: "Since there's no Taisen might as well buy Dive". "Maybe Taisen would've come out if these stingy "fans" supported Dive more". "At least we have Dive". An example of a current excuse for Taisen or any future release if it even exists is: "Le lockdowns, bro".
Not Taisen shills but Capcom shills in general. "copium" just means excuses.

      Delete
    9. "So what exactly do shills have to do with no MM games being announced for “3 to 5 years” and why are they making excuses? Enlighten me, please?"
That the disappointment caused by the absence of a product will be subtly redirected to focus to another currently available product. There. It's not that complicated.

      Delete
    10. Both of these responses explaining the “shilling” are fiercely unintelligent. Troll logic at its finest. I’m legitimately surprised at how many toxic gamers loiter on this blog just to exert the effort to talk down to people who merely visit site because they actually are Mega Man enthusiasts who actually do want to play a new game. Hopeful fans being generalized and accused of being “corporate shills” over a small yet iconic game series is incredibly stupid.

      Delete
    11. A marketing trick that is as old as products themselves is "unintelligent" and "troll logic" now. Stop trying to deny reality and claiming anyone you disagree with is toxic which is very immature. Writing that others "loiter" while you are artificially extending a discussion that ended days ago with no arguments is very ironic and hypocritical. If they were "hopeful fans" they wouldn't be making excuses and claiming things that aren't true. If anything that's desperation.

      Delete
  12. I’ve stated above my theory. The pandemic delay isn’t holding it back now. They’ve had enough time. Thing is, the situation was the same for everyone else so every big IP is getting a new release this year and then some. Mario, Sonic, Final Fantasy, Zelda, Spider-Man, not to mention Capcom’s own Resident Evil and Street Fighter just to name a few. You can’t just launch a new Mega Man game versus all of the above. A new Mega Man game will be successful, I have no doubt about that. But releasing it this holiday against Mario Wonder, Sonic Superstars and Spider (or even early 2024 vs. Tekken and FF7 Rebirth) is a losing battle. I think Capcom knows that.

The last thing we need is for Taisen (whatever it ends up being) to drown in the sea of big IP sequels.

    1. Kinda weird how everyone suddenly started replying in separate comments, but something else to keep in mind is that even aside from how many heavy hitters are coming out, Capcom also has to consider its own catalogue. They're only going to have so many games in development at one time, so the more games they have coming out in a short time span the bigger the gap will be between releases. It's smarter to pace themselves to have games coming out every year or two rather than blowing their load all at once and then having nothing to show for the next 6 years.

      Delete
    2. The only catalog Capcom is promoting is jiggle physics generation.
