Hot on the heel's of
yesterdays' news that
Mega Man 11 sold a million copies,
Mega Man franchise producer Kazuhiro Tsuchiya took to Twitter to
share updated sales figures for
Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1&2 and
Mega Man Legacy Collection 1&2.
"
Mega Man 11 shipped 1 million units worldwide," declared Tsuchiya.
"And ...
MMX Legacy Collection 1&2 total reached 1.4M units,
MM Legacy Collection 1&2 total shipment is 2M units. Thanks for your awesome support!
May the Blue Bomber be with you."
As one can expect, support and words of congratulations from fans and Capcom staff poured in.
The whole thread is worth a read. It'll make your blue bomber heartstrings sing!
Now, it is worth pointing out that, at the time of this writing,
Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1+2 and
Mega Man Legacy Collection 1+2 do not appear on
Capcom's Platinum Titles despite moving 1.4 million units and 2 million units, respectively. Tsuchiya hasn't commented on it yet, but speculations suggests that the collections are being considered separate SKUs.
The
X Legacy Collection was sold separately in some territories (as
Rockman X Collection 1 and
Rockman X Collection 2) and therefore the 1.4 million units is a *combination* of the two. It's a similar situation with
Mega Man Legacy Collection 1+2. We know for a fact that, as of September 2019,
Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 sold 1.1 million units. Legacy Collection 2, meanwhile, didn't come close but together
with MMLC1, the cumulative figure is 2 million units.
Phew! Okay. That was a lot of numbers. tl;dr,
Mega Man is doing very, very well and all of this
bodes well for the future. Good job everyone!
