Mega Man X4 1997 Developer Interview Translated by Shmuplations
Shmuplations has translated an old 1997 interview between Mega Man X4 developers Yoshinori Takenaka (Producer), Koji Okohara (Planner), and Ikki Tazaki (Designer). The three talk about the project's origins, creating and implementing a fully-playable Zero, how the X series connects to the classic series and, perhaps best of all, the crazy parties that busted out during development.
Here's a small snippet from the interview:
Okohara: Looking back at X3, we felt there wasn’t enough difference between the way Zero and X controlled, so we we tried to really distinguish them this time. Zero only gets his sword. And there’s no “charge” ability for his weapon, either.
Takenaka: I remember the vast majority of the developers were against that decision at first, actually.
Okohara: Yeah, his sword doesn’t have any reach, and they thought it would make the game too difficult. To address that, we raised his attack power and added Street Fighter-style moves, so he feels completely different from X.

More Rockman Nanoblock Sets On The Way
Another announcement coming out of Tokyo Game Show this past weekend. Nanoblock have announced that six new Rockman sets will be released at the beginning of October for 500 yen each. These sets were also on display alongside the recently announced Takara Tomy Rockman Collection 2 figures on the Capcom Booth at Tokyo Game Show.
The original Rockman Nanoblocks were released in 2013. They were fairly popular among hobbyists – it's good to see the line is back and lookin' better than ever!

Mega Man 11 Among "Best in Show" Tokyo Game Show Winners
Tokyo Game Show has come and gone, and CESA (Japanese Computer Entertainment Software Association) just declared the winners of the "Future Award". Per tradition, this award goes to upcoming games that received high praise at TGS (collected via attendee votes).
Shown above is the official list of Future Award winners (not ranked; everyone is a winner) and look! It's Mega Man 11! This is the third time a Mega Man game has won a Future Award: Mega Man Battle Network 3 in 2002 followed by Mega Man Battle Network 5 in 2004. Here's a picture of Mega Man 11 producer Kazuhiro Tsuchiya receiving the award. Congrats!
Mega Man 11 is due out on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 2nd. My review drops on October 1st.
