Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1+2 Western Release Info

Hot on the heels of Japan, Capcom USA just confirmed Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 and 2! Both will be available in the US on July 24th for $19.99 each digitally. A retail bundle will be available for $39.99 that includes two discs on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. On Nintendo Switch, the retail bundle will include a single cartridge with the first collection and a digital download voucher for the second collection.

Additionally, we have some new details and info about previously announced features. The X Challenge mode – a boss rush where you face off against multiple bosses at the same time – you can choose to take three Special Weapons into battle or go for a buster-only run. You can share your times with other players and see where you rank on the leaderboard.

New music for both collections has been confirmed as well. The music playing in the Japanese trailer is likely one such piece. Remixes of classic X series tunes are reportedly included too. Where they will be featured – in the games themselves or maybe just the menus – has yet to be confirmed.

Stay tuned for more updates!

Rockman X Anniversary Collection 1+2 Announced

Capcom Japan today announced Rockman X Anniversary Collection 1 and Rockman X Anniversary Collection 2 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Anniversary Collection 1 will include X1 through X4 and Anniversary Collection 2 with X5 through X8. Both collections are due in Japan on July 26th.

In addition to the games themselves, both collections will feature their share of extra content. There's a concept art gallery, a music gallery, a merchandise gallery (nice!) and a video gallery featuring various trailers AND The Day of Sigma in its entirety. Various borders and filters will be available at your disposal too. They've even increased the resolution of X7 and X8! To top it all off, the collections will feature a brand-new "X Challenge" mode, where you fight multiple bosses from different games at the same time!

In Japan, the collections will receive individual physical editions as well as a physical 1+2 bundle. It's 2 discs on PlayStation 4. For Nintendo Switch, AC1 will be on the cartridge and AC2 will be a download code. The PC and Xbox versions will be digital only (again, this is for Japan).

In addition to the trailer above, you can check out some screenshots and artwork after the jump. And don't worry; western release info is forthcoming. Hang in there!

You Can Now Preorder Jakks Pacific Mega Man Toys

First revealed back in February, Jakks Pacific's Mega Man toyline is now available to preorder from Entertainment Earth. Here's what we got:

  • Mega Man Classic Deluxe Action Figure ($39.99 August 2018): "Mega Man has never looked better! Fans of the classic Mega Man video game will love this deluxe action figure. The Mega Man Classic Deluxe Action Figure features lights and sounds that are sure to delight!"

Now don't freak out over the prices for the mini figures and plushies – those listings are specifically for cases. Individual mini figure 2-packs and plushies will be sold separately and it looks like ToyWiz has listings for those up right now. It's also worth noting the release date for these products aren't absolute. Rather, they are estimates that could potentially change at any given time.  I'll be keeping an ear to the ground for updates.

So yeah, that's all from Jakks Pacific for now. We're also expecting toys based on the new animated series from them at some point, too. I've got no news on that front yet. Stay tuned!

Rockman Unity's Fake Mega Man 11 Robot Masters Lineup Translated

Continuing a tradition of going all out with April Fools' gags, Rockman Unity revealed the Mega Man 11 Robot Masters lineup over the weekend – sort of. The fake rogues' gallery is made up of some ridiculous designs that you wish were real the real deal. And hey, if past Rockman Unity April Fools' jokes are anything to go by, one of them might just be.

New Mega Man X Artwork Spotted, Possibly Related to MMX Legacy Collection

Slowly but surely little bits and pieces of the sort-of-but-not-really-unnanounced Mega Man X Legacy Collection keep slipping out. Today, a brand new piece of X artwork was spotted outside Yodobashi Camera in Yokohama by rin_asei. The image was found alongside an unrelated kiosk advertising the Mega Man Legacy Collection 1+2 for Nintendo Switch. Interestingly, X is holding a pose that's strikingly similar to the Japanese Rockman X1 cover art seen here.

If this artwork is indeed legit – which it very likely is – it could mean Japanese retailers recently began recieving Mega Man X Legacy Collection promotional material. That in itself suggests an official announcement is coming in hot.

For the uninitiated, we've known since December that all eight Mega Man X games are coming to consoles and PC later this year. What hasn't been officially confirmed, however, is the release format. Early ratings from the OFLC suggest it will take the form of two separate collections. A rating from the BBFC provides further evidence, going so far as to imply a number of video extras – including the entirety of The Day of Sigma – will be feature in a gallery mode. So all in all, an X Legacy Collection (or two) is happening. We're just waiting for Capcom to announce it.

Thanks to MegaSegaDrive for the tip!

Mega Man: Official Complete Works Hardcover Reprint Due This Fall

Surprise! That thing I was talking about has gone public. Mega Man: Official Complete Works is coming back in a brand-new hardcover format on October 18th.

At a whopping 296-pages, this book features the classic series half of MM25: Official Complete Works. That means the original 200-pages of vanilla MMOCW plus the Mega Man 9, Mega Man 10 and other additional concept art from MM25. Please note that there is no *new* content planned this particular release. That means no Mega Man 11 concept art. This is strictly a reprint of MMOCW with the MM25 classic series content.

As for the Mega Man X half of MM25, that will be reprinted in a separate hardcover edition as well (ignore that image of X on the above cover art; likely an error). I've got no further details on that right now other than it's coming out this fall, too. I'll have more details to share soon. For now, you can preorder the hardcover edition of MMOCW here.

Shooting Star Rockman Sound Box Announced

Good news for the Shooting Star Rockman/Mega Man Star Force fans out there: a brand-new soundtrack compilation is headed your way. Today, Capcom announced Shooting Star Rockman Sound Box; a 3-disc set that includes all the music from Shooting Star Rockman 1, SSR2 and – for the very first time on CD – all of SSR3. About time, right?

The box set also includes brand-new cover art and a booklet containing composer commentary and notes. It will release in Japan on July 4th for 3,800 yen (about $36.21 US). And yeah; that's about it. I'll keep you updated on details as they come out. I'm really looking forward to finally owning SSR3's score officially. It's definitely my favorite of the trilogy!

Thanks for the tip, Vhyper1985!

"The Day of Sigma" to be Featured in Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1&2?

The British Board of Film Classification recently rated a slew of bonus video content for Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1&2 (which itself has yet to be announced but outed by an OFLC rating). The classification lists several trailers for Mega Man X1 through X8 and The Day of Sigma; the 24-minute OVA originally included with Mega Man: Maverick Hunter X in 2005. These videos will purportedly be featured in the "Gallery Extras" section in each or both X collections. It remains to be seen if Maverick Hunter X itself will be playable.

The classification also indicates the collection(s) will be released on July 19th in Europe. Pending official word from Capcom, however, this date should be taken as temporary. Nevertheless it sounds like we won't have to wait much longer for an announcement. We've known for quite some time all eight X series games are headed to consoles and PC. It's only a matter time before the release format is officially confirmed.

You can view the BBFC classification here or – in case it's taken down – after the jump below. Thanks to an anonymous Rockman Corner reader for bringing this to my attention!

New Mega Man Animated Series Robot Masters Revealed

A brand-new promo image for the upcoming Mega Man animated series (which confirms the show will appear at the MIPTV tradeshow in April) brings us our first look at the show's Robot Masters.

So who's who? Well, Fire Man, Ice Man and Drill Man are instantly recognizable, each featuring design traits very reminiscent of their classic series counterparts. It's worth pointing out that both Fire Man and Drill Man have undergone significant redesigns since their appearance in the now-scrapped 2D version. The other two Robot Masters, though, are up for speculation. The flippers on the aquatic Robot Master between Ice Man and Drill Man reminds me of Wave Man or Bubble Man. The female Robot Master floating above Fire Man is probably a new character. Suna Light, maybe? Eh, who knows.

The animated series is slated to air on Cartoon Network in the states later this year in a 52 episode, 11-minute format. Hopefully we'll have more news and additional details soon.
