For your viewing pleasure, here's a sneak peek at a new stage currently in development for Mega Man Unlimited, MegaPhilX's popular fan-game. If all goes well, this stage could be added to the game in the near future.

Phil writes, "At some point, this stage might be added to the game in a future update along with a couple of other features Jansim is working on. As usual, I can’t tell exactly when this whole thing will be finished but I’ll keep you posted whenever interesting stuff happens."

Archie Comics Planning to Adapt Mega Man X

It was only a matter of time before this happened. IGN has revealed that, beginning in February 2014, Archie Comics will adapt the Mega Man X storyline. Before you jump for joy, know that this is NOT a new monthly series. Rather, the Mega Man X story will be depicted within the pages of the current Mega Man comic as a back-up story beginning in issue #34.

As for the prospect of X getting his own set of comics, Archie's Ian Flynn says it's a possability. "We really want to bring people a Mega Man X book, so we need the people to demand it. Be passionate and be loud, people!" Flynn promises the back-up adaption will stick true to the game's continuity. Matter of fact, the first stories will chart the months leading up to Sigma's bloody revolution.

Exciting, no? For more details, check out the full interview at IGN

Mighty No. 9 Kickstarter is a Massive Success

Mighty No. 9, Comcept's ambitious spiritual successor to Mega Man, has just seen its Kickstarter campaign draw to a close. The finally number? Oh, just a paltry $4,046,579.

In all seriousness, that's fantastic. That number comes from 67,226 backers (or "Beckers", as they like to be called). In a single month, you've not only raised enough money to fund the game itself, but a number of extra things too! Console and handheld ports, bonuses and stages... even an entire multiplayer mode. Pat yourself on the back. You did it.

The success of the campaing means a lot. But most interesting of all, I think, is this: Mighty No. 9 is solid proof that Capcom does not understand the audience they have. The days of informally "gauging interest" should be left behind -- Mighty No. 9, essentially, is all the evidence they need.

I offer Inafune, his team, and everyone working on the game my congratulations. Bring on 2015!

More Mighty No. 9 Goals Reached: Call Stage & Boss + Chiptune Soundtrack/FX

Good news, everyone. With a little nudge from PayPal, we've managed to knock down another stretch goal. Coming in at $3,700,000, it's an exclusive stage and boss for Call, Beck's plucky partner. But wait! That's not all! The optional chipute soundtrack and effects have also been reached at $3,800,00!

Now all that's left to conquer in these final hours is the online battle race mode at $4,000,000 and at least one more mystery stretch goal. We'll keep an ear open!

If you want to get in on this, donate directly through Kickstarter or PayPal. Time is short!

Mighty No. 9 Coming to 3DS and Vita + New Stretch Goals

Great news for all of these who have wanted to play Mighty No. 9 on-the-go. The Kickstarter has just surpassed its stretch goal of $3.5 million, meaning the game will be made available digitally on Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita. Abstraction Games will be in charge of the ports, the same developer that brought Hotline Miami to PS3 and Vita.

This is a goal many of us have wanted, and its great to finally see it achieved. Of course, we shouldn't call it a day just yet, because two new stretch goals were just revealed!

$3,800,000: OPTIONAL RETRO-STYLE CHIPTUNE SOUNDTRACK + FX! You’ve seen the names of the legendary musicians attached to this project: Manami Matsumae, Takeshi Tateishi, Ippo Yamada... It’s a veritable who’s who of veteran game composers. So we thought, why not tap into that retro vibe and cook up an optional chiptune version of the entire Mighty No. 9 game soundtrack, including classic sound effects? That’s right – we’ll remix the entire soundtrack, retro 8-bit-style, and the game’s sound effects, for you to listen to in-game as you play, as an option you can toggle on or off in the settings menu!

$4,000,000: ONLINE BATTLE RACE MODE!! The ultimate online competition! You and one friend compete online, racing to the end of the same single-player stages -- you can see your rival as a "ghost" image in your game, but you can't affect each other, save for any enemies you defeat being sent over to impede each others' progress! It's an all new twist on a versus mode, that will give Mighty No. 9 life well beyond the single-player campaign!

It's the final day, so pledge if you haven't already!

Mighty No. 9 Confirmed for PS4 and Xbox One

The spiritual successor to the blue bomber, Mighty No. 9, is officially headed to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, following a successful $3,300,000 stretch goal. And that's all that needs to be said, really.

Next up on our list, Vita and Nintendo 3DS versions. We can do this!

First In-Engine Footage of Mighty No. 9

Before you hit that play button, know this: what you are about to see is a brief, proof of concept for Mighty No. 9. This is not what the game will look like; rather, a glimpse of what it could look like running on Unreal Engine 3. Comcept writes:

"Let’s be 100% clear (caps lock on!): THE GAME WILL NOT NECESSARILY LOOK LIKE THIS VIDEO, MOVE LIKE THIS VIDEO, OR ACT LIKE THIS VIDEO -- THIS IS A COMPLETELY ROUGH TEST ONLY, MADE IN LITERALLY ONE WEEK, USING ALL PLACEHOLDER ASSETS AND ANIMATION just to test how parts of the engine work. With no shaders, filters, or even models and key art in place yet, normally we would never show anything like this since it’s not representative of the final game at all, but in the spirit of this Kickstarter in showing how the game is made, even from the very earliest steps, we thought it would still be pretty cool to see a glimpse of Beck moving around in the engine (even if it is a placeholder Beck, moving through a placeholder level with placeholder enemies and animations!)."

For a seven day project, it doesn't look too bad.  But again, there's still 18 months of development ahead of us. Plenty of things will change.

New Mighty No. 9 Stretch Goal Revealed: Call Exclusive Stage & Boss

Coming from the Mighty No. 9 Kickstarter page:
"Yes! We heard the feedback from our community, and at this level, we would be thrilled to fulfill this popular wish -- to add an all-new single-player level, including a boss fight, where you can play as Mighty No. 9’s heroine, Call!
We agree it would be a fun addition and a great way to mix up the action, so fingers crossed we can make it this far!"
Call's exclusive stage and boss clocks in at $3.7 million. The clock is ticking -- can we do it?!

Mega Man 2 Composer On Board for Mighty No. 9

If you haven't heard today's great news, Takeshi Tateishi, the composer of Mega Man 2, will be collaborating with Manami Matsumae and Ippo Yamada (Mega Man Zero series, Mega Man 9 and 10) to score Mighty No. 9's soundtrack. With their powers combined, we can expect some seriously awesome tunes. Thankfully a $40 pledge nabs you the entire OST!

Stay tuned for more Mighty No. 9 updates. Who knows what surprises are in store for these final hours!
