Mega Man, 8-Bit Games Inspired New Toyota Hybrid Design
At the American International Auto Show, Toyota unveiled a brand new Hybrid car, the FT-CH Concept, who'se design, according to Toyota, was aesthetically based around 8-bit video games, namely Mega Man, Super Mario Bros. and Contra.
"The four-seat concept was designed by Toyota's European Design and Development center in Nice, France with an 8-bit mentality. That's not a put-down. It's actually the style that designers were going for with the FT-CH, and the press conference included references to Contra, Megaman and Super Mario Brothers."
[...]
"Toyota said the two-door FT-CH, 22 inches shorter than the Prius, is lighter and more fuel efficient and its styling, inspired by 8-bit video games popular during the 1980s, is intended to appeal to younger buyers."
Although I personally can't pinpoint what's so "8-bit" about this hybrid, (other than those fancy pixelated vents) it's pretty cool to know the NES Mega Man outings served as a visual inspiration.
More images of the FT-CH available at Auto Blog Green.

Auction - Copper Rockman Statue
Recently uncovered in a Yahoo! Auction is a fairly rare piece of merchandise in the form of a metal Rockman statue. The copper-finished figure was a limited promotional good sold at E-Capcom in very small quantities. Rumor has it there were only 200 or so produced.
Rockman here stands at approximately three-and-a half inches, and weighs around 3.1 ounces. The current bid? A whopping 8,500 Yen. Or $95.00. Pricey, yes, but imagine how good this will look on your mantle!

Mega Man Fan-Film Met With Praise; Final Cut Close To Release
On the film's official blog, Mr. Lebron was pleased to announce that due to the test screening's success, the final, 107 minute cut of the film will premiere sometime within the next 3-5 months followed by an online version two weeks later. A more concrete release date is said to be attached to an upcoming trailer scheduled to surface within the coming weeks. In the meantime, you'll have to make due with some old clips and a trailer or two at the film's official blog.
I don't know about you, but I'm actually quite excited to see the final product! Let's just hope that all goes well, and the film won't meet the same fate as Legend of Zelda fan-film, The Hero of Time...

Mega Man 10 Won't Feature Co-op
From IGN's hands-on Mega Man 10 preview:"Capcom was also quick this morning to strike down the rumor of a new co-op mode in Mega Man 10. Mega and Proto will not be sharing the screen any time soon. According to Capcom, Mega Man 10 is slated to drop in March on all three download services. Expect a $10 price tag."
Amidst the many Mega Man 10 rumors floating about, a postulated cooperative multiplayer mode was undoubtedly the most popular. It's truly unfortunate to see this one ruled out as I'm sure many were hoping this one to be true.
Check out IGN's hands-on preview for more details.

Hands-On With Mega Man 10
Thanks to our pals over at The Mega Man Network, we now more delicious details on the playable Mega Man 10 demo at CES. The site is featuring a hands-on report of the demo, which consisted of a fully playable stadium stage. A portion of the report below:
" I was able to play the XBox 360 edition of the game. The only stage available for the trial was the stadium themed stage (unfortunately I’m not allowed to divulge the boss’s name now). The stage starts in a stadium field with pitching robots that lob baseballs at you, which sort of arch down at you and come back up. Soon, however, you head underground, facing small locker doors that open from the background and shoot at you, and enemies similar to the Springers from Mega Man 2 – when you disturb these guys, not only do they spring around wildly but fire off shots as well.Complete report available here. Also, expect to see some complimentary video footage of the playthrough soon. I'll keep you posted on that one!
[...]
"Very soon you get to the game’s midboss, which is a large soccer goal-like structure with a robot head. A soccer ball flies in and bounces around the room, and then the robot goal post will try to smash you with its hands, and knock the ball around some more. This was easily the most frustrating enemy in the demo, and took me a couple attempts to beat.
You then face more of the above mentioned robots, along with basket-like robots that toss various kinds of balls at you, and you must head upward using platforms shaped like huge basketball hoops. As you progress upward, you’ll encounter soccer ball shaped platforms that will briefly rise into the air when you shoot them, and fall back down. But after you get back to the ground level, you’ll face against the same platforms but with spikes, lined up in long rows. You must continually shoot at them and pass under when they fly up."
Matt Moylan Talks Megamix
Comic Book Resources has a lengthy, yet highly informative interview with UDON's managing editor Matt Moylan, who talks a bit about the upcoming Mega Man Megamix manga, and shares a handful of new sample pages. Below, a couple select portions from the interview:
"This is English readers' first chance to see the manga adventures of the classic Mega Man," Moylan said of the significance of "Megamix's" arrival on our shores. "Having lasted for 20 years, the original Blue Bomber is a video game icon, and fans have been asking to read these stories for years. With the all-new Mega Man 10 game coming in 2010, there's no better time than now for some Mega Man manga."

OverClocked ReMix Prepares For Battle
The intrepid musicians of OverClocked ReMix have a rather interesting contest going on that fans of the Blue Bomber will surely dig.
"The Grand Robot Master Remix Battle" pits remixers against one another in a battle of music. Taking on the name of a Robot Master of their choosing, remixers will be matched up against an opponent, and within a week's time, must compose a track using both character's themes. Once the tracks have been submitted, users vote on who has the better remix. The winner earns the right to move along a traditional tourney bracket, and goes on to fight another opponent.
Needless to say, the event sounds like it's gonna be a blast; expect to hear some interesting remixes! For complete contest details, head on over to the official Grand Robot Master Remix Battle forum post here.
