Phoney Mega Man Promotes Antibiotics

The image of Mega Man.EXE appears to have been the subject of some not-so-subtle tracing in an advertisement for Deflox, a Spanish cold and cough medication. The impostor in all his glory below:

Mega Man 10 At CES

Capcom Unity reports that January's Consumer Electronic Show (CES) in Las Vegas will have Mega Man 10 in some shape or form. The much anticipated sequel is scheduled to appear alongside a handful of other upcoming Capcom titles:
  • Super Street Fighter IV
  • Lost Planet 2
  • Dark Void on PC
  • Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition
  • Mega Man 10
  • Final Fight/Magic Sword
  • Monster Hunter Tri
  • Tatsunoko vs. Capcom
  • MotoGP
  • Ace Attorney Investigations
Previous CES showcases play host to demos and the like, so I wouldn't be surprised if a demo of Mega Man 10 will be on-hand. If not, the least we can hope for is new info on the game to surface, or related media.

CES kicks off January 7th.

Rockman 10 Magazine Ad

Spotted in the latest issue of GameSide magazine:

Not very often a downloadable game gets a magazine advertisement, let alone a title that's nearly two months away from release. Great to see Capcom pushing RM10 early!

On a related note, the aforementioned magazine featured an interview with Rockman series composer Ippo Yamada who confirmed he has a hand in the production of the RM10 soundtrack. Yamada expressed his excitement with working on chip tune music once again (he previously composed a few pieces for RM9), and looks forward to Rockman 10's release.

Capcom Offers Original Art To E-Capcom Customers

Capcom Japan is running a campaign this month to win original artwork by Keiji Inafune and Hitoshi Ariga (of Megamix fame).  Customers who purchase a Rockman-related item from E-Capcom will be entered in a raffle to win one of eight sketches, each of which drawn live during last month's 22nd birthday web cast:

Although the offer is exclusive to Japan, Capcom US is looking into the possibility of holding a similar contest for those of us outside of Japan.  No new developments on that front yet, but I'll keep you posted.

Sigma Virus, Recreated In Plastic

Japanese blogger Blues is showing off a handsome recreation of Sigma's MMX2 wire-frame virus form, built entirely out of bits of plastic:

When I was younger, I found myself amazed by X2's ability to render the Maverick in 3D.  It was a true technical feat back then, all thanks to the CX4 chip.  The chip, and its subsequent 3D sfx, were used in Mega Man X3, too.

Check out a few more pics of the model here.

MM and MMX Official Complete Works Video Review

Mike Mertes has given an in-depth review for both Mega Man and Mega Man X Official Complete Works, covering largely everything you'd ever want to know about both art books. It's worth a watch if you're on the fence about purchasing either one or both books:

Mega Man Arm Cannon Only Marathon

A group of fans are currently holding a Mega Man 1-9 marathon for Child's Play charity, and to make things a bit more intense, they're only playing the games with the standard arm cannon - no special weapons!  You can find the stream below, and if you're feeling generous, you can send donations to Child's Play via group's PayPal account here.  It's all for a good and worthy cause!

Happy New Year!

With 2010 just around the corner, I'd thought I'd take this time to wish you all a happy new year, and thank you once again for your support throughout 2009! The blog has never been more successful, and I have you all to thank for that :)

With Mega Man 10 in March, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom in January, and a handful of new merchandise from Jazwares and UDON, 2010 looks to be a pretty great year to be a Mega Man fan! Heck, we might even have a few unannounced surprises coming down the pike...

Take care, and have a happy (and safe) new year!

MMOCW Sample Commentary

Not only is Mega Man: Official Complete Works chock-full of artwork, it's also filled to the brim with commentary from MM creators, too.  Both enlightening and entertaining, their words offer a look inside the development of numerous games, characters and concepts; stuff that would make for good trivia.

After the break, I've compiled a small sampling of some of the more interesting comments the staff had to offer.  For the rest of the lot, you'll have to buy the book for yourselves!

Project G, a homebrewed 2D fighter featuring a cast of original characters, and X-series Zero, looks to be an interesting appetizer for those looking forward to the red crusarder's appearance in the upcoming Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars...

Collector Shows Off Unreleased Mega Man Figures

You remember those canceled Jazwares Mega Man figures, don't you?  Well, one lucky fellow managed to grab a hold of a few prototypes, and is showing them off in the following video.  Items showcased include unreleased Knight Man, Mega Man Volnutt, Pantheon figures and a slew of smaller toys from a canceled "mini-mates" series:

Anyone else feeling a bit jealous?
