'Mega Man' Dons Game Design Book Cover

There's something oddly familiar about the "Better Game Characters by Design" book cover:

Your eyes don't deceive you; there's a major Mega Man resemblance there. The armor clad hero above looks like a cross between a certain "Elec Style" Mega Man pose and the upper body of Mega Man X. Ah well, you know what the say, "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery."

Auction - Mega Man 3 'Play Choice' Board

Currently up for auction on ebay is a rather rare piece of hardware. Behold, a Mega Man 3 "Play Choice" mother board.

The board once belonged to an arcade based version of Mega Man 3 that graced Nintendo's little known Play Choice 10 cabinets in the early 90's. (Read more on that here)

Bidding begins at $4.99 plus an additional $12. Buyer beware, the board is used and untested; might turn out to be something really special or a piece of junk. Also if you do manage to win, make sure you have some sort of arcade cabinet to play the game.

Complete auction here.

A Game Of Roulette

Spotted at a Japanese bar, here's a Rockman X themed roulette machine. Manufactured in 1995, the machine allows players to win a variety of prizes ranging from cold hard cash to candy. Simply place your bet, spin the wheel and score as many points as you can in four rounds. The higher the score, the better the prize.

DS Download Stations Offer SF3 Cards

Good news for Star Force 3 owners who don't have access to the Wii's Nintendo Channel: Acid Arrest and Crimson Dragon battle cards are now available at participating in-store DS Download Station kiosks.
Download stations vary depending on your location, but they are quite common at GameStop, EB Games, Wal-Mart and Best Buy.

Thanks for the tip, Wira

Mega Man ZX Advent "Fun Pack"

A rather curious item was spotted by PRC contributor Alzo.

Toys "R" Us Toronto is offering a Mega Man ZX Advent "fun pack" for $30. The pack includes a copy of ZX Advent, a Nintendo DS/Lite carrying case, three styluses and a wrist strap.

TRU online store doesn't carry the pack, so this might be an in-store only thing.

Thanks, Alzo.

Powered Up Papercraft

Bored and want something to do on rainy days? Then some Mega Man papercraft might just be up your alley.

Presented by DIL, here is a very nice D.I.Y papercraft Mega Man 'Powered Up' model. From the looks of it, this is a pretty difficult piece to put together, lot of diligence and patience required. Definitely not for papercrafts newbies.

If you're feeling crafty, you can find full, downloadable template here. Of note, the instructions are in Spanish, but if you move your cursor over the text, English instructions will pop up. No sweat.

The Very First Mega Man X Trailer

Uncovered by SuperMega and I, here is the very first Mega Man X trailer from CES '94. The footage shows off a prototype version of the game containing a few graphical glitches and the word "SAMPLE" on the title screen:

Hand-made Reaverbot

Models based off of Rockman and co. are common place at garage kit conventions such as Japan's Wonder Festival, but not very often you see something like this:
Custom figure designer, Fyakumo, built and sold this cool Reaverbot at the summer Wonder Festival. Standing at 5-inches tall, the little guy has a rotating torso and two interchangeable heads. Best of all was the price tag -- a low 1,000 Yen ($10).

A few more shots of the model can be seen at the designer's blog.
