Capcom Shares Rare Mega Man Legends Art for Tezuka Museum Exhibit

The Capcom Vs. Osamu Tezuka Characters art exhibit is currently in full swing in Japan. For those of us who aren't fortunate enough to attend in person, Capcom's official artwork Twitter account has been sharing collaborative art created exclusively for the exhibit, as well as artwork from Capcom's archives that's currently on display.

Today, they shared a very rare piece featuring Mega Man Volnutt, Roll Caskett, Tron Bonne, Data, and a Servbot, casually hanging out with Anarkis from Darkstalkers. The illustration is the work of Ryuji Higurashi, who served as the package artist for the Japan-exclusive Rockman DASH 1 and DASH 2 PSP ports back in 2005.

Considering this information, along with the seemingly unexpected inclusion of Anarkis, it leaves me with the impression that this piece was originally created as part of a promotional campaign for the PSP, aimed at promoting the DASH ports and Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower. UPDATE: Sure enough, it was indeed part of a 2006 PSP campaign! The original image featured several other characters as well.

If you're headed to the show this weekend, be sure to check it out in person! I'm sure it will look even better without the watermark...

Official Mega Man NT Warrior Marathon is Coming Back to YouTube

Battle Routine set! Capcom USA and YouTube Gaming are teaming up once again for another Mega Man NT Warrior marathon. According to the official Mega Man Twitter, you can catch the live streams every day at 10 AM Pacific time.

Right now, we're not entirely sure how long this marathon will go on for. In the last marathon earlier this year, they really dug into Mega Man NT Warrior Axess and even threw in a rare dubbed episode that hadn't been shown in the United States before. Also, fingers crossed they keep the episodes available once the marathon wraps up too!

To find out how it unfolds, make sure to tune in and check out the show on Capcom USA's official YouTube channel.

Rockman 20XX Has Been Successfully Preserved, Playable via FlashPoint

Rockman 20XX: Tatakae! Team Shachi!, the officially-licensed browser game by Capcom and Team Shachi, ended service on August 31st. However, I'm pleased to announce that the game has been fully preserved on Flashpoint, an open-source platform dedicated to archiving Flash games.

This preservation effort was carried out by Flashpoint archivist ThePowerPlayer, who played through the game multiple times to ensure the successful extraction of every asset, including those wacky cutscenes. If you have no earthly idea what I'm talking, give this a watch.

To experience Rockman 20XX once more (or maybe for the first time), download the latest version of the Flashpoint Infinity installer here. A Windows-based system is recommended, although limited support for Mac and Linux is available.  If you run into any issues or glitches, drop a comment. I'll pass it up to the chain!

Many thanks again to ThePowerPlayer for seeing this one through!

New Teppen Card Pack Turns Vile Into a Clockwork Toy

After Teppen's previous card pack delighted us with more than 40 Battle Network-themed cards, it was only natural to expect a more measured release schedule for cards from the Mega Man series as a whole. This expectation seems to be coming true with the recent launch of "The Daymare Diary," which spotlights Sherry Birkin from Resident Evil 2. Nonetheless, there remains a bit of space for the introduction of a few new Mega Man X cards.

See them all after the break!

Mega Man X DiVE Offline is Now Available on PC, Android and iOS

In case you needed a reminder, Mega Man X DiVE Offline is officially a-go. The game is now available to download on Steam, the Google Play Store, and the App Store. It'll set you back $29.99. No micotransactions, no additional DLC - it's a one time payment. Also, contrary to early speculation, an internet connection is not required to play the Steam version.

In a nutshell, Mega Man X DiVE Offline retains most of the original game's content: 100+ characters, stages, and modes. However, online features such as Battle Mode, Co-op, Ranking, Guild, and Capsule naturally didn't make the cut. Crossover content based on Street Fighter, Devil May Cry, and Monster Hunter won't be making an appearance either. There's currently no plan to include them down the line.

A final note if you missed it: save data transfer from the original version is not possible. You'll have start the game over from scratch. Not a terrible loss if you're new to X DiVE, but for those who've been around since the beginning, I feel you.

And that's about it! Capcom also posted a post-release survey. After filling it out, you'll be treated to some hi-res key art. Hit up the link and let them know what you think!

Additional Mega Man X DiVE Offline Details From Producer Asada So

In the latest Mega Man X DiVE video update, the spotlight turned to Asada So, the producer of the offline version. He took the opportunity to reveal further details about the game's development. It's a little over 4 minutes long, but if you're in a hurry, here's the noteworthy bits:

  • Elemental Metals will be given to players as stage completion awards. Additional items, characters and weapon fragments will also be available as stage rewards or to exchange in the in-game shop.
  • Seasonal Events are included and can be played whenever you want, regardless of the time of year.
  • A new mode has been created to listen to the game's BGM and character voice clips.
  • To compensate for the removal of PvP, certain skills have been adjusted and fine-tuned for PvE.

That's about it for now. As a reminder, Mega Man X DiVE Offline launches September 1st for PC/Steam, Android, and iOS for $29.99. Although not outright confirmed by Capcom, an internet connection is reportedly required to play the game on Steam.

The Misadventures of Tron Bonne "Gappori Guide" Scans Now Available

Following the release of the Rockman DASH 2 Final Digouter's File, we're delighted to share that high-quality scans of the elusive and long out-of-print "Tron Ni Kobun Gappori Guide" are now available on the Internet Archive. This preservation contribution comes from our friends 0xmortis and RockmanCosmo.

Just like the previous art books in the DASH series, the Gappori Guide is packed with concept art of various characters and mecha, including designs that were never fully realized. A good slice of the book also provides a behind-the-scenes look at Capcom HQ, with snapshots capturing the development team's workspace. Those famous life-size Servbot props make an appearance too.

Please be aware that the scans are currently in their original Japanese format. The developer commentary throughout the guide will remain untranslated for now, but as always, if there's enough interest, a full scanlation project could be just around the corner.

In the meantime, feel free to check out the complete guide here!

Threezero MDLX Rockman Revealed (UPDATE)

A brand-new classic series Rockman figure made an appearance at Threezero's Animation Comic Game Hong Kong booth.

Currently, specific details are limited, but the upcoming figure belongs to the MDLX line—a series known for being "highly articulated, poseable, and offered at an affordable price." Curiously, Rockman here doesn't appear to have very many joints,if at all. It's possible this is an early prototype. UPDATE: Threezero indicated that the joints have not been implemented for this particular unit. The final product will have articulation after all.

For a glimpse of what's in store, you can refer to Threezero's impressive range of previously released Transformers figures here

In their consolidated financial results for the 1st Quarter of fiscal year 2023, Capcom announced that Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection (Vol.1+Vol.2) has sold 1.32 million units as of June 30, 2023.

On April 27, Capcom reported 1 million units sold within two weeks following the title's release. Today's update confirms that, from April 27 to June 30, the collection sold an additional 320k units.

Rockman DASH 2 Final Digouter's File Hi-Res Scans Now Available

High resolution scans of the long-out-of-print Rockman DASH 2 Final Digouter's File are now available at the Internet Archive courtesy of our friends Vii (@0xmortis) and RockmanCosmo. This book's contents have been sporadically shared online over the years, but never before in such excellent quality and all in one place.

While the majority of the book serves as a game guide, it also includes several pages of rare and never-republished concept artwork. You'll find a treasure trove of unused Bonne and Glyde Gangs mechs, Reaverbots, characters, and more odds and ends like Rock Volnutt's civilian clothing. There's even a few early cutscene story boards too!

Please note that the scans are currently presented in their original Japanese format. However, if there's enough interest in a full scanlation similar to the Great Adventure Guide, this miiiight be something we can pursue in the future.

For now, hit up the link above and thumb through this fantastic piece of history!

Behind the Scenes of Mega Man: Fully Charged's Pixel Art

Mega Man: Fully Charged may have had a short lifespan, but its memory endures. While the show holds a special place in the hearts of its small yet vocal fanbase, it also lingers in the thoughts of its former crew.

Paul Johnson, who contributed to the show's various pixel-art segments in 2017, recently shared a behind-the-scenes glimpse of his process. He demonstrated how he transformed the initial 3D models into pixel art, simplifying and diluting their most notable features while still maintaining recognizable designs for the show's primary cast of villains.

Overall, it's a fun watch. There's some great trivia here for fans, plus a glimpse of early, unused designs too! Check it out, if you're so inclined!

English Translated Mega Man 1 Design Documents

These include different versions of the unused Robot Master Bond Man and Oil Man, along with other fascinating details.

Unfortunately, Capcom didn't provide an official English translation. But thanks to our helpful friend Windii, we now have the complete document translated into English! You can download it here or view each page below after the break. There's a lot to read and see -- it's a real treat.
