Not sure if this is true or not though.

Don't forget, we don't know what kind of transformation/armor system is going to be used in this game, and chances are high that EXE's going to have something like that (note that this does not rule out the possibility that Subaru might get transformations/armor of his own too). I'm also seriously hoping that the Navi Customizer gets put into this game as well.

I think they're going to try to make both characters' playing styles rather different. I'm thinking that whatever Rockman.EXE gets is more likely to make him more of a customizable/strategic fighter while Subaru is likely to be focusing on more straightfoward tactics.

Jalppy: I am seriously waiting for the day when these 'professional' video game outlets crash and burn. Especially IGN.

You know they're not professional anymore when you see them post a serious featured article that proceeds to say something along the lines of "I say this because I love trolling Wii owners and seeing their reactions" within the first paragraph. (I'm serious too, they did this about two weeks ago.)

You also know they're not professional anymore when they start touting something like Mega Man 9 to be "a REAL Megaman game" while subsequently stomping on every EXE and SSR fans' face and (painfully ironically) going "none of the rehashed crap" in the same article.

These days, I find blog and forum sites like NeoGAF, Kotaku, and Destructoid to be far more honest and professional, not to mention far less willing to write something off as lazy without even playing through the game first.

Destructoid actually did a review of Star Force 3, and I have to say that it was brutally honest. Also, Beast Swing seems to be SSR's navi chip or a seperate chip. Lastly, looking at the screens again, they're so blurry that you can't actually discern whether or not Subaru's sprite isn't simply being flipped, or whether the hand is correct. And by the looks of the hand that's extended, it's simply being flipped. Whether or not he has different hand sprites to differentiate hands when he's being flipped, I'm not sure, but the sprite itself is being flipped for sure. And I seriously pray Rock.EXE has some sort of advantage or more abilities when put up against Subaru.Khttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09081398670596655983noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4080026879350344019.post-3008777302907453432009-09-12T08:38:46.229-05:002009-09-12T08:38:46.229-05:00@Musashi - think of it this way, Mega Man has diff...@Musashi - think of it this way, Mega Man has different fans, and that's true that no one should take it as "Meh..at least it's -insert game name here-" but it's the fans who complain about a game they're not a fan of. So what if people don't like EXE, why should they complain about it getting another game as opposed to something like X? X has had it's fill, debatable that EXE has had it's fill, but think of it this way, first EXE game we had on the DS lacked something like WiFi. Which it seriously needs. I'm not saying that fans shouldn't hate another series, by all means, hate one, but the point is, keep your mouth shut about it since this is Mega Man, it's got multiple games, and Capcom's going to try and release a new game for what it feels fits. Everyone has a Mega Man game that they either don't like as much, or dislike to the extreme, but again, what's the point of bitching about it? Most of them are classic and zero fans, and the Zero fans have got to be the worst out of the Mega Man fanbase.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4080026879350344019.post-2692834176837327572009-09-12T08:31:28.696-05:002009-09-12T08:31:28.696-05:00In terms of battle system, SSR3's the only SSR...In terms of battle system, SSR3's the only SSR game worth noting. And that's a redo on the custom screen part. Overall, the system's really limited and feels like a rail shooter in many aspects. When comparing the systems of SSR, you have to note that the majority of its more advanced systems were available to Rock.EXE in EXE6, and with more freedom as well when considering that Rock.EXE was on the GBA.

Rock had the capability to shield in EXE2-6 using styles and navi-cust parts, and most of the time you didn't need to shield. Which meant you quite honestly had to dodge or get killed, like classic Rockman. Lock-On and Auto-Lock-On? Done by beasts. Mega/Giga? Once again, Rock. Mod Gear? Okay, this I'll hand to SSR3 and SSR3 only. Ability Waves? Just a modification of the EXE5/6 mod gear at heart. Regular system is EXE's, the "plug in" aspect is EXE's, Gemini Noise's Tag system is EXE6's made WAY simple, folders that actually require more than just shoving things in according to battle style, etc. Noise is a mash-up of Styles and Crosses with additional elements.

All in all, SSR3's the only game that really did a good job with things, and it wasn't until SSR embraced the reality that it was an altered EXE-clone that it got things out decently. The first game denied it too much, the second game tried to focus too much on the brother band. The third game made it possible for single-player, BUT still gave you nice rewards for BB. Unfortunately, the 3rd game's quality came too late, since a good number of EXE fans and newcomers tossed the series away, and SSR's sales weren't enough for Capcom to milk it. Ultimately, going back to EXE was inevitable with the amount of denial SSR originally had, and it's a pity, since SSR3 truly started making most of us want more. If anything, we should be happy that the SSR developers have decided to go back to EXE roots for SSR. Ignoring EXE and putting most of its work down the drain with SSR1 and 2 were what killed the series as a game in the first place, acknowledging the roots of SSR's universe and genre, then working UPON those roots instead of trying to ignore them were what brought 3 back up to quality.

That is to say, SSR3's worthy of being called EXE's successor, 1 and 2...eh...not so much. 2 MAYBE, but it was more unbalanced than Beast Outs.

As for those who whine about 2d, shut up. EXE's always looked good in 2d, ZX looks good in 2d, the X series looked good in 2d, most of the more famous classics looked better in 2d. BOKTAI, looked fabulous in 3d. FF6 looked fabulous in 2d. 3d doesn't automatically mean better, especially with the DS's capabiities. Though, I have to admit that 3d EXE would be somewhat breathtaking, if it were in decent quality, anyways.

Also, if Subaru's constantly correct, the sprites in this game, or at least the new ones, might actually be high-quality 2d models made with 3d hardware. Which would mean...surprise surprise, 3d. If not...you still know they put in a lot more effort into keeping Subaru's arms accurate. It's turning out to be better than we'd expected, and if it has even as close to as much effort as SSR3(oh god, side-features were SEX), it'll be enjoyable.Khttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09081398670596655983noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4080026879350344019.post-24243583298060068052009-09-12T07:40:18.329-05:002009-09-12T07:40:18.329-05:00I'm having the same troubles comprehending how...I'm having the same troubles comprehending how they can make RockMan EXE better than SS RockMan, whose abilities are massively useful, and combined with something he didn't have before-- full-range movement... I've seen conflicting reports about the PA thing, but even if only RockMan EXE can use PAs, EXE1 PAs really sorta... blow. I think it's likely that only RockMan EXE will be able to use the Add function, though, which is useful, especially since it seems to be 2-3's, not EXE1's terrible Add. I'm sure they intentionally hid SS RockMan's battle screen. I wonder what will activate Tuning... it can't be down anymore if SS RockMan can move throughout the whole area (and even if he couldn't to have the same range of movement, it still couldn't be down. With SF 3, I think the series earned its rightful place next to (not above) the Battle Network series.

I legitimately enjoyed Sta Force 3's battle system and will miss it here, but I'm also glad they chose to go 2D with Battle Network's battle system -- I've missed it, too.

What I'm trying to say is, I think both series have their merits and I appreciate them both for what they are. I'll probably always like Battle Network a little more because its quality is more consistent (and it lasted longer, so I spent more time with it), but Star Force has earned its rightful place as Battle Network's follow-up in my eyes, and I love both worlds and their sets of characters.

In the end, I want to say I agree with the Anonymous poster who said that people need to basically stop bitching so much or get out of the fandom. It seems there's no pleasing a lot of you people, and it makes me sick. No matter what Capcom gives us, some of you always find a way to bitch about it, and those of you who do bitch just come off as spoiled brats.

If this had been 3D with Star Force's battle system, those of you who have to bitch would have bitched... just like you're bitching now about it remaining 2D. God damn. Just be glad we're getting another BN/SF game at all -- after all, the Star Force series is supposedly concluded, so with both series finished, there was never any guarantee that we were going to get another one. And personally, when I finished Star Force 3, I wasn't anywhere close to ready to say goodbye.

Be thankful for what you have. Us Mega Man fans can't afford to be picky and bratty, and thankfully, the vast majority of games Capcom sends our way are still great ones. Yeah, it could be better, but it could also be so much worse.

Now, with all that out of the way...
