Another Look at Proto Man's Close-Range Attacks in Dual Override

Capcom's Tokyo Game Show Spotlight has come and gone, and there really wasn't too much in the way of Dual Override updates. Director Shinya Ikuta and producer Hiroyuki Minamitani took center stage to talk a little more about what we've already come to learn about the game. Mixed in with some familiar footage, though, were a few new snippets of Proto Man gameplay. You can watch that portion here.

According to Minamitani, compared to Mega Man, Proto Man deals more damage and focuses more on close-range attacks. His Buster shots have limited range, while charging his weapon allows him to unleash a sweeping blade attack.

Other than that, no major new details were revealed during the Spotlight. However, we may learn more during the game's 50-minute stage event on September 21st.

  1. Looks like they just took MMX attributes and gave them to Classic. The identities are ruined now. About par for the course with Capcom. And the internal part exposure transform is such a tired cliche you only do when you run out of ideas. It's like time travel.

Never in my life have I heard someone refer to Megaman as a close range character. If he can't duck or melee, he can't do close range. Even the devs have no clue what they are saying. So they just gave Protoman Zero's saber. As I called it. Pathetic. Chip stuff was also from X5 and onward.

This game is basically just X4 as Protoman's moves are like what Zero's were. Not weapons but augmentations. I had no hope for this and I was right not to trust Capcom with anything anymore. Looks like fangames will forever be the only good source of Megaman.

Megaman has been dead 20 out of the 40 years. The rest of the series (X, Legends, BN, Z, ZX) are FAR worse off too. This game is nothing but their standard marketing ploy to toss the fans the arbitrary bone once a decade. They try to milk us literally once a decade or so and only during a MM milestone year, not at any other point.

  2. I wonder if they will have Protoman have take double damange in Dual Override. Like in Mega Man 9 and 10, I really do hope they dont do that because I loved playing as him but taking damage killed you super quick
