Mega Man Coming to Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds as DLC

Early copies of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds are surfacing as some retailers appear to be breaking the street date ahead of its official September 25th release. Inside the case, a postcard reportedly reveals the final paid DLC pack: Mega Man. Judging by the logo, it appears to be none other than the classic series Blue Bomber.

Fans have been hoping Mega Man would make the cut ever since CrossWorlds was first announced, especially after years of official but non-game crossovers with Sonic the Hedgehog—the most notable being the Archie Comics Worlds Collide saga. If this insert is genuine, CrossWorlds would mark the first time Mega Man and Sonic appear together in a major Sonic title.

Stay tuned for updates!

  1. Eh. I’m not raising my hopes up. He’ll probably be mute anyway.

    1. If SpongeBob friggin’ SquarePants - a character well known for never shutting up - is mute, then Mega Man’s got no chance.

    2. To be fair on his part, most of Mega Man's games (Classic or otherwise) are known for using text boxes. In fact, prior to Mega Man 11, the Legends games were the only installments with voice acting.

    3. Huh? MM8, Battle and Chase, SAR, Powered Up, X4, X6-8, MHX, Command Mission, ZXA? None of those games have voice acting?

    4. Though I agree Mega Man and whoever his plus one will be are some of the less egregious mutes, only behind the Minecraft and Pac-Man characters.

    1. Imagine if Inafune fucks it up for everyone again (like he did with Street Fighter x Tekken) and does EXACTLY THAT.

    2. Is Inafune in the room with us? :p

    3. It'll probably be the one from the games. The real question is, who's his plus one?

    4. His plus one is going to be Reggae.

      lol, nah

    5. I mean, after the backlash he got when cancelling numerous Mega Man games (Legends 3 and ZXC included) in favor of putting Bad Box Art Mega Man in SFxT was his idea of a joke, I’m not taking chances.

    6. That’s very much not what happened. Inafune wasn’t even with Capcom anymore when Legends 3 was canned.

And the comment about Inafune from the ZXC “reveal” doesn’t seem super conclusive either way. And even if he was responsible… that was kinda his job? He was the producer for the whole series: there’s probably another dozen games that never left the drawing board because of him. He literally decided what games were made.

The difference between ZXC and Legends 3 (and Universe, Maverick Hunter, et all) is Legends 3 had a sizable effort already invested in the game. Inafune would never directly cancel it (if you wanna blame its cancellation on his resignation before the release, that’s… understandable, though not really fair). It was absolutely cancelled to bury the old guard’s ambitions. It was about sending a message: this isn’t Inafune’s Mega Man anymore.

    7. Why would Inafune have any say in the matter? He does not own the property, he no longer works at Capcom as a producer, and he doesn't work at SEGA either. Absolutely nonsense fear mongering.

  3. …Well shoot, and here I was totally fine with skipping Crosworlds.

If Raphael is actually playable on his own, I might bother after all.

  4. Makes me wish I didn't suck at racing games. Rush Car Mode please!
