Koji Oda, director of Mega Man 11, is directing Star Force Legacy Collection. While he wasn’t able to appear at the show, he shared a message with fans, explaining that the team—made up of former Star Force staff—is working hard to create a collection with unexpected features that surpass a simple port.
All of the BGMs are being rearranged for the collection. What started as a plan to update only a few tracks grew into a full project to rearrange every piece from all three games. Players can switch between the new arrangements and the original music any time.
Autosave, a much-requested feature absent from Battle Network Legacy Collection, will be included this time. Each game in the collection will also support multiple save files.
The dev team is preparing additional “easy mode” features beyond the already-confirmed no random encounters option and Mega Buster 500%. Their goal is to provide a range of options that make the games accessible to players of all skill levels.
Although he didn’t contribute to Star Force Legacy Collection’s main visual, former series artist Shinsuke Komaki created a special commemorative illustration for attendees (above).
Those were the main takeaways from the event. While many hoped for additional details, such as a possible cross-game PvP and a release date, the presentation largely recapped features that had already been announced.
More updates are on the way, so keep an eye out.
Is there any way we can request an optional hard mode? I'd love difficulty options to also be allowed to make things harder.
ReplyDeleteLike something akin to the DX mod’s Legendary Mode? Not gonna lie, some of the new features, such as how to enter Transers and Comp Spaces and whatnot, look very similar to how it was done in the mod. I wouldn’t be surprised if they took some notes from that. That being said, while a stronger difficulty would be nice (I’ve wanted that since BN2’s Hard Mode), I’m not expecting it. But maybe could increase the damage you’d take from Viruses as you could decrease it apparently?
DeleteI know it's near impossible for this to happen and many people would disagree with me because of Mighty no.9, but i kinda wish Inafune would come back to some extent. I can't shake this feeling that Megaman's massive hiatus had something to do with his departure and not only financial/marketing purposes. All megaman series games were halted completely the same year he left.
ReplyDeleteI don't see how his return would turn things around in any significant way. He's mainly credited as a producer and I don't see Capcom ever giving him that role ever again.
DeleteThe truth no one wants to believe. Never say never, but yeah it’s probably not happening. Though I’d be interested in seeing what Kitamura would do with a game now, if he were up for it.
DeleteNothing would be gained by bringing back the guy who broke the thing in the first place.
DeleteHe built the thing in the first place too. Despite what people would like to revise 𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨-𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝, 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐥.
DeleteMark sees my point of view here. It would be unreasonable to pin down the halt of the franchise entirely on him. We don't even know the details that led to him leaving but we know he worked on a great number of titles and helped bring them to life.
DeleteAlso... I feel like it wasn't even a problem with Inafune exclusively, i feel like he may have been a consequence (and not the cause) of a greater conflict between the people responsible for megaman and the higher ups within Capcom.
DeleteIf this is the case and Inafune ever were to come back, I'd see it almost like a peace treaty between people who originally worked on these various megaman titles and the higher ups. Like two parents coming back together because they understand the well being of their son is more important.
"𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐥."
DeleteYou're going to have to prove that.
I don't wanna drive the conversation off topic from this post further, but Inafune practically worked as either a designer, producer or execute producer for almost every megaman franchise game. From classic (1-10), X (1-8), Zero (1-4), Zx (1,2), Legends (1,2), BN (1-6) and Starforce (1-3). Even the odd ones out like Maverick Hunter X, MM&Bass, Network Transmission and Tron Bonne...
DeleteHe may not have been the main guy, but he was definately a major key player in representing our blue boy. All the more reason to think that a man this close to Megaman left for a deeper reason... And it honestly hurts to think i thought ill of him for the Mighty no.9 disaster back in 2015, when he helped in the making of so many other ones that i love so dearly.
That's not true for X5-7 although he did give indications for Axl's design and when he became a producer he purposefully didn't get as involved due to Legends 1 flopping. However he was still involved to some degree, public record shows that Inti Creates were much more responsible for the storyline of the Zero games than Inafune, he did work on the sprites of at least the first game though. Saying he's "contributed more than anyone" is just blatant disrespect for everyone else involved and even to Inafune himself. The guy wouldn't be THAT arrogant. Also, it's worth noting that ideas he disagreed with did end up making it to the games, like the sliding in 3 so he certainly wasn't the most influential individual.
DeleteId be interested if I was interested in online cheese only battles lol. Kenji needs to stay away he lied on multiple accounts didn't deliver on multiple accounts etc. Mighty no 9 is one if the greatest false faces in gaming history i explained it all on my IG several years ago but naturally facts meant nothing in the face of fans boys so who honestly cares lol.
ReplyDeleteEh, I got swept up in the hype. I wanted to believe, but that's how I got burned. That's part of why I get so heated when MN9 comes up.
DeleteAuto save is actually great. Full OST rearrangement is nice too.
ReplyDeleteWaow. I did not expect arrange for the entire soundtracks.
