With Mega Man X Timelines #1 hitting comic shops this week, author Daniel "Protoman" Arseneault is already looking ahead to his next endeavor: the upcoming Mega Man X ongoing series. For those curious about how — or even if — this new series connects to Timelines, Daniel has shared the graphic above to clarify how everything fits together.
According to him, the ongoing story begins with an as-yet-unannounced issue #0. While the events of that issue remain a mystery for now, it leads directly into Mega Man X Timelines #1, which centers on X and Zero’s battle with Chill Penguin. The timeline then continues with Mega Man X ongoing #1, currently scheduled to launch later this fall.
More details on the ongoing series are forthcoming. Stay tuned!
You know it’s an American comic when the story is already anachronistically split between two different books and nothing’s even come out yet.
ReplyDeleteNot impressed with the implied storyline. Intro stage, Chill Penguin, Storm Eagle… lemme guess, next is Flame Mammoth?
Also those covers are definitely connected. Check the left side of issue 2 for the rest of Vile’s bandolier.
real mega man fans would find the good in every aspect of the character's various media adaptations
DeleteNo, @bvers96. That's called a "consumer".
DeleteFor me, it’s not even that. It’s not like I specifically want Marty and Blau Launcher to show up in adaptations of their stories (though I definitely wouldn’t object). I just want creatives to tell *their* stories, with *whatever* changes they need. Because the implied story here? Beginning with Vile and (presumably) ending with Sigma? That was told back in ‘93.
DeleteWhen I first saw the timeline order here before I focused on the image, I thought “issue 0” might be more about Sigma and what started the Maverick rebellion. Something like Day of Sigma. Which I suppose it still could be, but I’m not too inspired to believe as such.
(Also this is assuming you were calling Udon the fake fans and not me. Wasn’t quite sure how to read that :p)
@Bver96 No, not necessarily. Fans are allowed to dislike adaptations - plenty of people hated Fully Charged and the Ruby-Spears series. That does not make them fake fans; it means they have specific expectations that are not being met.
DeleteYes 😂👍🏽
ReplyDeletei'm a manga inspired artist i might just buy the comic for story ideas.
ReplyDeleteOf course the ongoing series has another #1 issue so they have have another 10 covers with half of them exclusive and hard to get..... annoying.
ReplyDeleteI had a feeling we were in for multi book shenanigans, but whats up with the out of order release? Going from #1 back to #0 is gonna kill the stories momentum a bit when being read as released.
ReplyDeleteguys with all due respect, this at least looks faithful to the megaman x ethos, appearance and story wise. the franchise is at its down-low now, it needs all the life support it can get.
ReplyDeleteIf you love X and the franchise, try to help support this comic series.
pre-ordered all the timelines, even my less favourite ones like ZX.
it might give SOME incentive for capcom to look again at Megaman's potential
