Oh boy. Oh man. Bandai just tossed up one doozy of a teaser. It's a little too early to call it but, it could point to X-Hunter figures... or Bit and Byte. Either way, something interesting is afoot.
Bandai launched this teaser page this evening with the following message:
In English it reads:
Orange text: "Damn that X! I guess it's no surprise considering that he defeated Sigma before."
White text: "We can't leave this to our underlings... We'll just have to defeat him ourselves!"
So there's a couple things going on here. One, the font used is straight from the SNES games. That narrows these characters down to Mega Man X1 to X3. And two, these characters certainly speak as rivals to X. I immediately thought of the X-Hunters but that's a group of three – Violen, Serges and Agile. However, it's two individual characters talking in the message. Bit and Byte, maybe?
Like I said, it's a little too early to call it. Fortunately we won't have to wait too long; the veil will be lifted on July 20th.

That would be pretty boss to see those guys get figures.
ReplyDeleteIt's the X-Hunters. This is what Agile and Serges says in X2 after defeating the second Maverick in Rockman X2 https://hondoori.wordpress.com/scripts-and-localizations/rockman-series/rockman-x2/
ReplyDeleteWell, in X2, Agile and Serges said very similar things in a conversation after defeating two mavericks. I don't recall Violen having any lines in that scene. The orange and white text could represent Agile and Serges respectively. I think it could very well be the X-Hunters.
ReplyDeleteWhat a time to be alive.
ReplyDeletei want iX to return :D
ReplyDeleteGod yes. Him and the rest of the Megamission characters deserve some love.
DeleteIf not new entries, they would make for some nice DLC content for a hypothetical series of remakes
DeleteBefore getting excited, I want to see what series these are...
ReplyDeleteAre they Giga Armor? They shouldn't be 4inchnel or D-Arts...
Are they poseable or static?
Guess we will find out on the 20th.
Bit and Byte? Eh... sounds cool. I recall Bit being very popular for some reason so I can see that.
ReplyDelete...
Now Imagine if they were made to combine as well...?
It's because of how Iwamoto drew Bit saying "Merry Christmas!" in the manga. It was deemed so humorous that it became a joke in Japan and a meme outside of it. Iwamoto has been drawing him with increasingly crazier expressions every Christmas since then on his website.
DeleteCome on Vile Mark 2!
ReplyDeleteI'd personally like Zain & Geemel :)
ReplyDeletethe teasing seem pretty specificaly about something for X-2.
DeleteAnd i'd won't mind Berkana and Gareth. but X-hunter or Bit & Byte would already be very risky choice, they're never gonna do something with xtreme. Even within the Megaman Fandom, only dedicated fans have played theses.
Rockman is not as mainstream as it used to be, so that's already targeting a niche. then going fo less known of less popular characters is even more of a niche. (not to mention that figure are already a niche to begin with).
that's why we only get Classic Megaman, X and Zero figure. they're the only "sure values" characters. and that's also why every line stop with MMZ Zero. contrary to popular belief, he don't kill the lines, he just happen to be the last viable character. (that and the fact that ZX is to recent to get merch acording to capcom rule).
On the contrary, we have more than enough of surefire sells like X or Zero. Seeing new faces and builds should be enough to fan the flames of interest, if you're going to bother at all with the X series.
DeleteBesides, people love the Zero series art-style. With it's blockier facets, imagine the kinds of toys you could make out of those designs.
Just an opinion... I think that the orange text: "Damn that X! It's only once, but he did defeat our master Sigma before." would be better.
ReplyDeleteWhy cant it be a MMx2 remake?
ReplyDeletebecause it is from BANDAI webpage, not CAPCOM's....
ReplyDeleteWhat if it's Bit and Bye Giga Armor figures... that could combine into the Godkarmachine... :O
ReplyDeletedon't know if this is for a figure or something, but it do seem related to the X-hunter.
ReplyDeletei'm surprised they don't do something with Vile, though. Aside from the usual characters, he is probably the most popular.
If it is X2 or X3 related, I hope we also get X in the Second and Third armors. I need those.

ReplyDeleteI would love to see the x-hunters and bit and byte as action figures. Let's hope that they won't be statues like we got when we asked for a sigma figure...
ReplyDeleteNaaah! This must be a Smeagol/Gollum kind of case, its Double and Jello Man I say XD
ReplyDeleteIt's from Bandai's Gashadepa site, meaning it's a gashapon release.
ReplyDeleteSo, don't hold your hopes up for a Giga Armor figure. Likely static little figurines.
