Fans of Archie's
Mega Man comic series, take heed.
Destructoid has acquired the covers for
Mega Man #36: A Chance for Redemption. Poised for distribution in April, issue #36's story will deal with Dr. Wily's redemption as a free man. Care to wager how long that will last?
The alternate cover is above. Head over to Destructoid for the
standard cover, which has a "special jumping-on issue" label. If you haven't been reading the comics, issue #36 may be the right place to start.
Thanks for the tip, Jim!
"A chance for redemption". Yet I still see Flynn's name in the credits.
ReplyDeleteChance. Squandered.
Would you like cheese with that?
DeleteA bit of advice.
DeleteYou're more than entitled to hate this comic series.
But needlessly mocking it in it's public forums for attention only makes you look like an immature brat.
What exactly is wrong with the comic series, anyway? It's pretty solid to me. Maybe not, like, the BEST comic series out there, but I think it's a good "version" of Mega Man.
DeleteYou're STILL bitching about a comic that you made a huge deal of dropping before the crossover began?
DeleteI can't speak for Protodude, obviously, but I very much doubt he appreciates your futile attempts to chase away 99% of his readership over a single comic. (And before you bring up the fact that your comments keep getting approved as counter-evidence: Blogger's comments system is rather spotty, I've been told)
@JusteDesserts,
DeleteLeave him alone. That's his opinion!
I'm going to keep casting a negative light on Archie's Megaman comic until they get someone else (ANYONE ELSE) to write them. I don't care if they get even worse, they'll at least be interesting in a bad way.
ReplyDeleteReading Flynn's work is like poking my brain with a Q-Tip. As a ardent Megaman lover, I want badly to be able to enjoy the comic; Lord knows I waited long enough for it. But it reads like fan-fiction written by a pretentious 12-year-old. I just can't indulge it and I feel a tremendous opportunity is being wasted.
There's some things that I would've preferred have been done differently, but did I let that turn me into a chronic thread derailer?
DeleteEither put your grudge against Ian aside, or find something else to channel your time and effort into. Your actions are not going to get a writer replaced, no matter how long you keep at it, and it astounds me that someone presumably much older than me can't wrap their head around that.
Wouldn't it be a much better world if everyone whose opinions offended us would just not express themselves?
DeleteWe'd all like to live in a world devoid of nasty words that make us feel bad. Like Flynn himself, who strives to shelter himself from all negative criticism on his DeviantArt, BumbleKing and YouTube pages.
But what people like Flynn (and his undying loyalists) don't realize is that exposure to projected negativity and dissenting opinions can actually be beneficial to the target individual. It allows one to build a tolerance for criticism, it allows one to achieve humility and self-perception, and in the case of writers and misc. creative persons, it allows one to grow artistically.
I don't live in a bubble, I don't abide people who do, and I especially don't abide people who surround themselves with undiscerning fan boys who kiss their asses and tell them they're infallible when they're, in actuality, compromising an otherwise acceptable comic book.
It's appropriate that Ian's other comic is Sonic The Hedgehog, another game franchise that has passed into obscurity/mediocrity but whose fan base is looked upon by many as a bunch of loser kids with Asperger Syndrome. And if people aren't careful, Megaman could be easily sink down to that same level.
You're in no position to be lecturing others about opinions.
DeleteRe: "it's constructive criticism because I say it is!"--it's not. Simply leaving a "this sucks" on (for the sake of example) something I wrote does not tell me why it sucks or how it can be fixed, just that you didn't like it for unspecified reasons and lacked the tact to simply find something else to read. Hundreds of posts amounting to variations of "Ian is a hack", likewise, are no constructive. They are obnoxious and uninformative.
Your continued use of Asperger's Syndrome as an insult disgusts me.
Hey, watch it, Prof. Megaman! There is no way you're talking that way to him! He wants to make more Mega Man comic books and keeps them strong and alive! Geez, why are you called your "Prof. Megaman" when you insulted Flynn's opinion for no reason?
ReplyDeleteLet's try talking about something more positive, for once? Like, how the other comic book cover looks like it's using lighting similar to Sonic The Hedgehog? I don't remember that ever happening, except for when the Worlds Collide crossover was going on.
ReplyDeleteI think they've used this colouring method for past MM covers, actually (mostly variants).
