Could There Be Mega Man News At Comic-Con?

New information regarding Capcom's 2013 Comic-Con panel has surfaced courtesy of the official SDCC schedule. Among topics intended to be discussed, “The World of Capcom Games" panel will reportedly bring Mega Man 25th anniversary information and a "few other surprises":

"Moderator Francis Mao (CAPCOM) leads a panel of CAPCOM's producers and product managers to share the latest details on all their upcoming games, such as Dead Rising 3, Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies, Lost Planet 3, and DuckTales: Remastered, as well as information about Mega Man's 25th Anniversary, and a few other surprises! Plus, some lucky fans will be invited to play the CAPCOM 30th Anniversary Trivia Contest to win cool prizes!
Thursday July 18, 2013 3:30pm - 4:30pm Room 6BCF

At the very least we can expect to hear a little Smash Bros talk and maybe something Archie related. But given the fact we're seven months into the 25th anniversary, I like to believe it's about time we heard something about the future.

We'll just have to wait and see how things play out. For the time being, set your expectations appropriately.

  1. last time capcom said they would announce for mega man at pax east and we all know what happened. my expectation for a game is 0.0000000000000000000000000000000000000001%. if they did make a game for mega man, i might be happy since it's a game but i'll have to wait since they might cancel it like legends 3.

  4. At the very least, I'm hoping to see Megaman's Final Smash.

I mean, you'd like to see Hyper Megaman from MvsC, but honestly, it's probably the MM7 Super Adapter, or one of the MM6 Rush Adapters. I suppose it could be Flash Stopper; going around and shooting everyone frozen in time would be pretty wicked.

    1. Time Stopper (Flash Stopper is the one that blinds you, from Bright Man) would be an interesting use of a Final Smash for sure. Another option may be one of his all screen attacks. I imagine Astro Crush or Lightning Bolt would the most visually appealing choices.

    2. Seeing as they've already shown Mega's capable of using both hands as a Mega Buster I wouldn't be surprised if he could use the double buster. I think that would be a pretty awesome final smash for him to have.

    3. Don't forget, possibly a 3DS exclusive stage as well as Assist Trophy.

  5. I predict MOAR MERCHANDISE

    and re-releases.

MM as a video game series is over, make way for re-releases of the same 6 games.

  6. I don't expect anything regarding MM. Archie Comics and Super Smash Bros, and probably merchandise, being the only things likely. Color me surprised if they do show something more than that, but I can't really expect it.

I do however look forward to hearing more Ace Attorney news. That franchise will still always be one of my favorites from Capcom.

    1. You killed me, it was funny! LMAO.

I want say, i become pessimistic not only because capcom dont make any games for Megaman, but the fanbase seems to be bored and go AWAY.

If capcom doesnt show a game for 2013/2014...it can be very bad for the fanbase.

The fanbase is the thing who make megaman alive, the passion of a true videogame...alive...

      Lets wake up =(

  8. I don't expect much from Capcom any more. All I want now is from them to release a physical copy of AA5

  9. "to share the latest details on all their upcoming games, such as Dead Rising 3, Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies, Lost Planet 3, and DuckTales: Remastered, as well as information about Mega Man's 25th Anniversary"

"upcoming games (MM not listed), as well as [MM25th] information (but not explicitly games)" <-- key phrase, indicating no Mega Man GAMES in the pipeline.

    1. It's called suspense. They don't have to specify WHAT series these games pertain to. Look at past World of Capcom panel announcements before the panel happened. They never specify.

    2. And to add to anon, all the listed games are games we already know that exist.

  10. They will release Mega Man 5, Mega Man 6, Mega Man 7, Mega Man X2, and Mega Man X3 on the Wii U VC.

  11. Protodude you always post news around a big conference and say will there be news of MM's future? Stop getting your hopes up, The future of MM... it's prolly gonna involve merchandise.

    1. Did you even read the post? He didn't say anything about getting your hopes up. Just to have realistic expectations.

  12. Mega Man-related news at Comic-Con? Maybe, but I'm not expecting it to be anything that's of any true significance, as far as a new game is concerned.

  13. Megaman Anniversary Collection: Platinum Edition (PS3/Vita exclusive).

Same collection. Less bonus content. New box. $20 increase.

  14. Am I the only one who actually wouldn't mind another collection release? Unlike a lot of people, I don't exactly own every MM game there is to date...

    1. You can get all 3 collections fairly cheap on Amazon. There's no need for another collection. What we need is new games, not rereleases of old ones. not now.

      Delete
    2. So? Those collections are only a fraction of the franchise! We've got nothing for the ZX series, Battle Network, nor Starforce, plus the earlier two collections are missing X 7 and 8 as well as Command Mission and the Classic collection 9 and 10 as well as &Bass. Don't forget the GB Classic and X games, and Legends not capable of it due to problems.

      We need new updated ones.

    3. @9:16 AM Anon

NO. People like you are the reason the franchise is in the gutter, if they keep re-releasing the same games over and over the franchise will never expand beyond. The reason MM is in this gutter is because he only has hardcore fans, Capcom needs to make a MM that attracts even non MM fans, re-releases of series that bombed like Star Force and ZX are not what the series needs right now. Hell re-releases are not what is needed right now.

TL,DR WE NEED NEW GAMES, NOT UPDATED ONES.

    4. Hey 3:37PM anon. Name me five games still being printed and easy to find on store shelves other than the series that killed the franchise.

OH WAIT. THERE ARE NONE. And what do we have for fangames oh wait. All 8-bit except for few exceptions. The franchise has nothing to get hyped on for any front.

Even if we put out a single compilation on store shelves, it would greatly help people see Megaman and possibly become interested. Not all gamers are online(meaning they can't get VC nor 9 and 10), not all gamers go on websites that feature Megaman prominently. Right now we've got nothing outside of Smash Bros to get people interested. We need his face out there, even if we have to do a compilation.

  15. Capcom My bad Crapcom said they did not want to upset fans by leaking games to fast without further analasis into any games they make so until the have a mega man gave that is final we are not hearing a peep from Crapcom for a while

  16. Capcom's focus lately seems to be on legalized extortion. Namely, selling you a game with content that is locked, then making you pay extra money to unlock it. Either that or DLC that they try to sell you ON THE LAUNCH DATE! Seriously, why don't you just sell us the whole game like you used to. I wouldn't mind being able to buy additional content after the release, provided it adds to the game and wasn't simply locked or held back for profit's sake. That's like the difference between buying a car and having to pay a surcharge to use your trunk, or buying a car and putting an aftermarket stereo in a few months later.

Capcom is no longer run by storytellers and visionaries. It's run by profit-focused bankers. I get it, the purpose of a business is to make money. But come on now, if all you want is money, go be a friggen banker. Don't get into video games if you don't want to tell a great story to people who are eager to hear it. They snubbed Legends 3, and instead shat all over us with Megaman "Gotta Catch Em All" Battle Network, or another virtual console game. If we don't already own all of the old games, it's a piece of cake to find them in an already released compilation. And failing that, emulation sure isn't going away.

And then when Capcom finally does get off their rear and make something cool, like the Chronicles of Mystara on Steam, the damn thing doesn't even work half the time! Gah. It's enough to make me just give up on them altogether.
