Mega Man Network staff member Heat Man got some one-on-one time with
Rockman Xover at the Tokyo Game Show recently, and he's come back with some (brief) gameplay footage. Check it out:
Heat Man also wrote up his impressions of the demo. Read it at
The Mega Man Network!
Ewww... ugly. Reject this one!
ReplyDeleteDisappointment. Wish it was on the 3DS or Wiiware if it can handle this game. Sighing.
ReplyDeleteSo not only does it still suck, but they didn't even compose new music or arrange existing songs.
ReplyDeleteEven the less visibly-angry reviews can't make this game sound appealing. :/
And assuming that they're using X1's music and sounds and not MHX's, then there probably won't be much aural unity(?). Wonderful.
This is just...horrible.
ReplyDeletewhat a steaming pile of shit this game is, there are a ton of megaman fan games that are 1,000 times better then this and that really says a lot about capcom these days. they seem to forget that megaman was one of their huge sellers during the 90s that helped make them a successful company along with street fighter. what a disgrace.
ReplyDeleteThat running animation. It hurts.
ReplyDeleteThe worst thing is that I, an amature game designer, can think of hundreds of ways that you could make this game more fun AND visually appealing.
ReplyDeleteMake you have to decide to charge, not make it automated. Give you a limited number of shots on screen like the old games. Make some enemies only vulnerable via charge shots like in X8 so that you have to balance between charging and regular bullets. Make enemies have higher defense or move faster so that you don't kill them before they're a quarter of the way to you. Put Over-1 on a hoverboard or a ride chaser or something so that it makes sense that you're constantly moving forward.
Oh my gosh... This could have been Green Biker Dude's official game if they'd actually put some work into it.
I never thought I'd say this, but honestly, I like the IDEA. The IDEA of the game. It kind of reminds me of Bit.Trip Runner, which is pretty cool. The execution is awful though. I wouldn't mind seeing a GOOD version of this game on 3DS, really.
ReplyDeleteIt lacks everything...
ReplyDeleteI mean, even the worse quality popular titles at least have SOMETHING, which is flashy graphics that are great to look at.
This is shit. We all know damn well the iPhone/iPad can put out greater looking stuff.
Gameplay? Too simple/shallow, not really any strategy because it looked like a single bullet killed everything, meaning mashing away. The fact it's all on one side is a further nuisance. The combo mechanic may add some depth, but I doubt enough. Failed to hold my attention while I watched previews. I also hate games that take away control of my characters movement, especially the SPEED. Some are hiding behind the transformations/Battle Memory for depth, but if the basic gameplay is simple, shallow junk, added depth to other aspects isn't going to help the overall product. Maybe add some platforms for alternate paths or spikes to make it more interesting.
Also get rid of the auto charge BS. I'm a huge fan of SF but that was one that drove me up the god damn wall because it felt like easy mode to me.
CHARACTERS
While I'm all fine with Xover, I want the option to be any of the iterations in the final product once I beat it. In addition, I want to see all iterations have equal reps, none of this full X shit we're seeing.
Music
I expect lots of remixes. If I don't get that, I'm not sold.
HOT
ReplyDeletegirl
@September 23, 2012 11:10 PM Anon: It might have some remixes, but chances are they'll just re-use existing music for most, if not all, of the game.
ReplyDeleteOh look, more whining from the fans.
ReplyDeleteWere you guy expecting to see MM11, X9, ZX3, BN7 or SF4? At least there's going to be a Mega Man game this year, and tbh it doesn't look as bad as Battle Chip Challenge.
omg, totaly horrible ._____.
ReplyDeleteWell... This is only what Capcom can do? It's more like a simple homebrew game! Just horrible... Even we fans would be able to make a game like this!
ReplyDeleteCapcom is just selfish nowadays... They keep cancelling new games, and now they come up with this game with a bad trailer, no new music, which uses sprites from older games...

Zerker is right, but this game is actually much worse than BBC.
@Zerker: No we were expecting something with EFFORT IN IT. And some of those bitching are actually giving points on what Capcom should do to improve.
ReplyDeleteHell at this point I'd take a SF compilation over this. At least that had some legitimate effort unlike this thing...
@Gospel: Here's the first step to making the game considerable easier to sell to the fans: RIDE CHASER.
ReplyDelete@Zerker: Of fucking course we weren't expecting any of those; it's an iOS game. An iOS game with no effort put into it, which is why most of us are angry that this is the only MM game we're getting this year.
ReplyDeleteIf you can't express any excitement for Xover without talking down to every other commenter here, then just go away. Nobody wants to deal with you anymore.
I know you mean well by offering the gameplay, Protodude, but no thanks ;)
ReplyDeleteOh look, more trolling from Zerker...
ReplyDeleteOh man, even a novice fangame made on game maker can look better than this fail-o. It´s badder than the iCrap 5 at least.
ReplyDelete@ 11:35 AM Anon - As much as I would love to see a Star Force compilation, I want a Battle Network compilation first.
ReplyDelete@ RADIX - Most of you are angry because you're all stuck in the past.
@ 1:55 PM Anon - ... And, could you tell me how I was trolling exactly?
I was just stating an opinion, that's hardly trolling.
@Zerker: It's not the past that sucks for Megaman bro, it's the present.
ReplyDeleteI love people trying to compare this to Battle Chip Challenge. Way to miss the fucking point. Yeah, BCC might've been a cash in just as shameless as this, but it came at a time when we still had plenty of Megaman games. THAT'S THE DIFFERENCE. People are pissed off that this game sucks yeah, but the main problem is that THIS piece of shit is ALL we're getting for the 25th anniversary. CONTEXT. Some people need to learn it.
ReplyDeleteHey Capcom, here is an advice for ya:
ReplyDeleteWhy not give a Ride Chaser or other vehicle for OVER-1 in stages and make him jump from it in RPG boss battles?
Indeed everyone should shut up about BCC. That was when BN was at its peak and also got a gamecube title that same year as well as 4, Zero was going on, Megaman and Bass had a GBA release, the 15th had a compilation game, and X was just windimg down with X7. Thats your god damn context when compared to the empty desert of megaman games Xover is arriving in.
ReplyDeleteCapcom could have ported all the little cellphone games they have in Japan such as the poker or tennis games. You know, make a little compilation of them in one multi-game gallery. They're without a doubt better than this. It's amazing that Capcom's even demoing this at their booth. It's like "Hey, we just took a mammoth dump! Check out the size of it!"
ReplyDelete@Zerker:
ReplyDeleteIt's alright for you to have an opinion that differs from everyone else's, but most (if not all) of your posts as of late seem to boil down to "I like this game, and anyone who says otherwise is an idiot."
And not to mention the fact that you assume that everyone who hates this game is a blind Legends fanboy/fangirl who's "butthurt" about Legends 3 and Universe getting canceled. Newsflash: I'm far from being a diehard Legends fan (since I used to be biased against it, but nowadays, I'm neutral), and I thought Mega Man Universe was a piece of crap, and even I don't like what Xover is shaping up to be.
