Pictured, an alleged teaser poster for Mega Man Online that's been making the rounds at various Korean websites. As you can see, the image focuses in on Mega Man X, which may indicate the X series will be involved in some way. Its legitimacy is questionable, however. The Mega Man Network notes:
Some things seem to check out, with what little I can investigate. NeoWiz and Capcom are listed, and are obviously the creators of the game. “Pmang” is NeoWiz’s online casual game portal. However, some things still bug me. The image has no logo or other write-up, the Capcom copyright date is in 2007, and no sites outside of Korea have reported on this picture (until this one I suppose).
It looks legitimate, that's for sure, but until something a bit more official pops up, I'd take this with a grain of salt.
Thanks to everyone who sent this in!
Judging from this image, it looks as if Mega Man Online is going to be based on the X series.
ReplyDeletewell If we asume this is legit. id say that that picture obvisly tells a few thing about our previus thoughts. I say if it would be a world where you would make your own character and play exe would have made a good fit. ut who says it couldnt like an online war hunters vs mavericks, thought i dont think capcoms thinks in tat direction it would be cool. thought i also having troule to see other ways the mmx formula would fit online. Well opefully they've een thinking about this and they said it was something special, I'll take thier word for it and see what comes.
ReplyDeleteMan that's awesome.
ReplyDeleteOr if you are working as Maverick Hunter, as one of X's underling... hmm...
ReplyDeleteAnd you can customize your hunter or whatever...
Thought you guys would like to see this, acording to gamerep the've seen a document that kinda states that this game is an mmo!

As neat as this looks -- and as much as that badass image makes me giddy with excitement, being an X fanboy -- I highly doubt it's real for several of the reasons Heat mentioned... and even if it is real, my excitement is all but destroyed when I remember that, oh yeah, this will be an MMO. No measure of cool could make up for this being an MMO, if real. :(
ReplyDeleteBut damn, if this were a teaser image for X9? Instant glee. Not sure I'd know what to do with myself. :P
There went my interest.
ReplyDeleteMEGAMAN X9 CONFIRMED!!
ReplyDeleteIs that... X??? Is he standing on the city while the moon/world is shining upon him??? Yes! He's baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!
ReplyDeletemaybe MMU is a new MMX Side story like MMX Command mission?
ReplyDeleteI dont like MMO's but im intrested now that X is in it. I thought it would be the battle network seriese NOW THAT WOULD BE LAME
Would bet money on this being fake.
ReplyDeleteAlso, it may or may not be worth noting that the design is old-style X. That's getting nitpicky though.
ReplyDeleteDamn, I wouldn't mind knowing just where X happens to be, given that's definitely Earth in the sky. The focus is even identifiable as the Sinai peninsula.
ReplyDeleteIf it is legit -- even if not for whatever Mega Man Online turns out to be -- it prompts some interesting speculation.
(an aside; is the franchise "Mega Man" in Korea? if it isn't, why isn't this "Rockman Online"?)
Even if it's not official, it's a very awesome piece of artwork. Kudos to the artist.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is Mega Man in Korea. Not Rockman. Strange huh?
ReplyDeletehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Mega_Man_games
ReplyDelete2007 isn't too much of a stretch. According to that, the most recent Rockman X game was a port of Rockman X to some cell phone game service called i-mode, of which I've never heard before.
YES!!!
ReplyDeleteGuys, if it's an MMO like people are speculating, the glowing earth in the sky is just there to show you can play with the entire world
ReplyDelete:l
So, because the Earth is in the background sky, this takes place on the moon, following the events of X8, meaning that this could be the period of the Elf Wars between the X and Zero series, which could easily host an MMO-type setting where a user creates a Reploid to fight in said wars.
ReplyDeleteMakes sense.
Until I see more proof, I'm not gonna get excited. If this is real, then it's pretty cool. :D
ReplyDelete@ Curious George:
ReplyDeleteah-NO.
lets jut get this straight. Capcom will never make an Elf Wars Game. much LESS into an MMO.
ugh MMX as an MMO? I like the X series as much as anyone, but not as an MMO. It really deserves to have a sidescrolling sequel, not an online game. I think Ryuusei or EXE would work better for an MMO personally...
ReplyDelete^ I think most of the
ReplyDeleteseries could work as an MMO.
Classic - Customize your own RM
X - Customize your own Hunter
DASH - Customize your own Digger
EXE - Customize your own Navi
Hell I don't even think MM Online will only show X series. Hunters could be a type of class and X is the guy to go to when you want to advance on your class like going to Dark lord to advance thief class in Maplestory...
I may be on to something... >.>
Copyright 2007?
ReplyDelete@Flame:
ReplyDeleteMy theory still stands, bro, and it works with what you think, too.
Capcom might not/never will make an Elf Wars game.
Good thing Capcom isn't making this game, eh?
This picture might even be the first in a series of pictures of different MegaMen in a similar pose with a similar background, thus echoing the the idea of a "MegaMan Universe."
ReplyDeleteWouldn't that be interesting?
Well, to add some possible legitimacy to this art is the fact that Inafune himself said that the next "X" game won't be X9.
ReplyDeleteLegit or not, the art is cool.
Same as my last statement:
ReplyDeleteLet's wait for GAMEPLAY details. This is not enough.
Actually, the whole MMO concept seems to be interesting. As long as they come up with something new AND fun...
OH! BTW, I completely forgot. There's the possibility that THIS COULD BE FAKE.
There really isn't a way of stoping you guys, right? IMHO, there's no point in speculating until we get to see some form of GAMEPLAY...unless you just came here to provoke a flame war.
But that's just my opinion...no one is forced to care about it, right?
None the less, that pic looks incredibly awesome :D
You people disappoint me.
ReplyDeleteHere we are, with barely any information about an online Megaman game, and you people outright assume it's a goddamn MMO.
Unless of course by MMO you mean Mega Man Online, but that's beside the point.
Oh well. It just adds evidence that most fanbases are shit, which, again, is disappointing.
"Capcom will never make an Elf Wars Game. much LESS into an MMO."
ReplyDeleteCool to know we have an insider man, because of course he would never make such bold statements if they were solely based on his opinion or what he thinks make sense!
Rock on you sexy devils!
I wonder,if its possible that the planet behind X is Eurasia 21XX
ReplyDeleteWhat's Eurasia 21XX?
ReplyDeleteThis is kinda confusing for me; ok it´s X,cool indeed, but just thinking in something online regarding this saga, makes me feel a little uncomfortable.
ReplyDeleteIf there were a Megaman X MMO where you design your own mavericks and hunters, I think I might soil myself in joy.
ReplyDeleteI've seen that planet somewhere before I'm sure, especially with those weird symbols on (maybe I'm just hopeful it's nothing to do with X)
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, the planet behind him is a newly finished Elysium close to the earth due to the orbital elevator connecting it. Another opinion of mine is that this may or may not take place during the Maverick Wars interm between X series and Zero of which you create a hunter and fight alongside X.
ReplyDeleteI would laugh if this was for Korea-Japan-Asia Only. (actually I'd cry. T.T)
ReplyDeletehttp://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/12/capcom-working-on-facebook-game-could-be-out-by-next-march/#comments
ReplyDeletePerhaps?
X Series? Green Biker Dude can finally have the time to shine in this online game!
ReplyDeleteFight! For Everlasting Peace! :D
