Now this is impressive. Unlike most YouTubers out there, user
Tssf didn't set out to remix or arrange Mega Man 10's soundtrack -- instead, he remade it in
NES Sound Format, recreating the tunes with actual Nintendo Entertainment System sound software. The end result: more authentic, genuine 8-bit music....
whats the point of this?
ReplyDeleteWily 3, Ending, Special 1, Solar, and Commando took definite hits. Their notes didn't get to ring like they do/should.
ReplyDeleteBut Title, Bass Shop, Roll's Gift, Wily 1, 2, and 5 all benefit from having some crisper notes.
Main Menu improved remarkably.
Sheep and Strike's notes did an ear-bleeding whine.
All in all, I'd say were probably better off with III's pseudo-NES style. Good to hear that it is in fact close, though.
Sounds sooo much better!
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing.
ReplyDeleteAlmost all of them sound exactly like the original. Now, that takes talent to recreate it that accurately.
ReplyDeletePretty good arrange. I liked most of them, specially the shops of Proto Man and Bass, and the three "Wily Stage 1" musics, Wily 3, Wily Machine, Wily Capsule and the Special Stages.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, Pump Man, Sheep Man, Roll's Gift, the Wily Castle Map intros, and the final Wily Stage don't sound very well, specially Sheep Man's stage.
I've heard from previous comments and such for Rockman 9 "homemade" NSF files and someone said that the NES can't normally hit notes that high or low. That is probably why it doesn't sound "perfect."
ReplyDeleteThese sound exactly like the originals except some have some louder drums. There's nothing particularly impressive about it from a sound standpoint. Very impressive re-composing everything note for note though.
ReplyDeleteThe sounds are the good but nsf is has high and low sounds so the version in the game has more different kind of sound.
ReplyDeleteWow this nsf is good the music are great.
ReplyDeleteSheepman's NSF is NSFW.
ReplyDeleteSheepman in the NSF sounds exactly the same as the original, there's no difference, except some of the percussion sounding different because of the NES's noise generator being random, where MM10's is sampled.
ReplyDelete"These sound exactly like the originals except some have some louder drums. There's nothing particularly impressive about it from a sound standpoint"
ReplyDeleteExcept that they don't sound exactly like the originals, as several people have already pointed out. I'm sorry, but before you go knocking something "from a sound standpoint", get your ears checked. Or better yet, read up a little on the NES sound chip and the accuracy of MM9's MM10 faux-NES sound here: http://nesdev.parodius.com/bbs/viewforum.php?f=6&sid=ed26618431c5241964ad51b662b83c26
This is cool so you can make a rom of cartirage in this for the real NES I guess.
