Rockman Zero Collection Announced For DS (UPDATE)

Capcom today unveiled Rockman Zero Collection for the Nintendo DS, which as the title suggests, is a collection of all four Rockman Zero/Mega Man Zero GameBoy Advance games in a single DS cartridge:

According to the official site, the game will release on April 22nd for 4,190 Yen ($46).  Other than that, details are pretty slim at the moment.  I speculate we'll learn more during this weekend's World Hobby Fair in Japan, but I wouldn't bet on it.

UPDATE: Would you like to see this collection released outside of Japan? Let Capcom know here!

I'm pretty sure nothing is gonna be added to these games, either.

  2. I would buy it if it came with some nice extras. Not so much if it's just the games and a menu for them. Very cool though, hopefully more people will get to play the Zero series. Plus I think the controls on the DS are better laid out than the GBA Micro, SP or even Original were. I had to play the Zero games on the Gamecube w/ the GBA Adaptor to get higher rankings. But the DS has more of a controller-like width between it's D-Pad and buttons, at least in my opinion.

  3. Actually, to add to my comment, where is our MEGAMAN GB ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION?!

How many of you saw that Konami remade the GB Castlevania Adventure (think that was the name) into a 16-bit WiiWare game? I would love to see Capcom do the same w/ at least Megaman 5 for Gameboy since it was the only completely original one.

  4. Sounds cool!

This is great for new DSi owners, who can't play GBA.. And DS owners, who never had a GBA. Like me.

I would greatly consider buying this, most specially if they add new things.

And I highly doubt the price is going to be that much. @_@; At least here in the sates.

At least it's nice to see Capcom doing something with the Z series! <3

  5. wow awesome ;) Im so gonna get this since my gba carts are pretty much dead now. Although I would like for a new entry in the series but this is enough to satisfy me xD ah the nostalgia

  6. A collection is at least better than porting just one game and calling it a remake I guess..

  7. I will preorder and enthusiastically replay the first three if the Z-Knuckle gets put into them.

  8. I want a Battle Network DS Collection!

  9. I hope they at least. AT THE VERY VERY least polish up the controls. I have 4 buttons on the DS, I better not have to hold a shoulder button to use my sub weapons or dash.

  10. I'm going to second Hypercoyote's plea for a Mega Man GB collection--especially since one was originally promised to us but never came to fruition. Ah well, I suppose we can still hope...

  11. I hope the games react in some way
if the GBA cardtirdge is in its slot, like some new feature or at least save data transport :)

  12. *YAWN*

Well, at least it's not in battery-backup cartridges.

  13. Awesome, I always wanted to have all the games without paying a ton. Hopefully this will come to America if it does well. Rockman Zero was amazing, but totally overlooked.

  14. I'm sure they'll add something extra for the 2nd screen. My hopes are up for it using the remastered music.
Either way, this is a must buy.

  15. I'm not exactly a huge fan of the Zero series, so I can't say that I'm a hundrd percent supportive of this idea. However, if things go well with this game, then hopefully they'll release Mega Man Mania, which announced all the way back in 2004. I have ROMs of the five Game Boy Mega Man titles already, but I think they would be a lot more fun to play on an actual system, in addition to being in full color.

  16. Foo on all of you.. I'm ordering this the second it's announced in English.
Hell, I may just import it.. The Zero series is my favourite out of all the series and I'm pushing 14 hours on my Game+ copy of Z3. Say what you will, but having all four on one cart is a dream come true for me. >P

  17. Hypercoyote/everyone else who wants the Game Boy Mega Man collection:

It just dawned on me... why not put it in Capcom's suggestion box and upvote it as much as we can? Besides the suggestion box existing and the newfound renaissance of the Classic series (especially the neo-8-bit games), this is the best time to suggest that the collection see the light of day, if ever there was one.

I'll be happy to get the ball rolling, as I've always been sad that the GB collection never actually came out. Those games -- especially Mega Man IV and V -- are wonderful.

  18. Regarding this actual announcement... neat. Didn't see this one coming. I can't say I'm particularly excited, though. The Zero series is awesome, but it isn't my favorite, and I already own and played the hell out of Zero 1-4 on the GBA. I'll probably pick this up just because I'm such a big Mega Man fan, but unless Capcom announces enhancements or addition content for the games (very unlikely), I'm kinda "meh" on the whole thing.

I'm really happy this is coming out for those who missed out on the series back on the GBA though, because these are great games, oft-overlooked games.

The Zero series was always quite a bit better than the ZX series too, even though it's also good in its own right.

  19. Very nice indeed :3

This saves me the trouble of rounding up all the MMZ games again. Hopefully they'll put in some nice extras - art files, music, etc. Maybe minigames or something.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I wish they'd add a boss rush mode and a survival mode like they did in ZX:A.

    ReplyDelete
  21. @Ash: That's a great idea! Count me in. =0)

    ReplyDelete
  22. I just sent in the game data to gamefaqs. they should hopefuly have a message board up for this soon.

    ReplyDelete
  23. It's the Capcom fundraiser! 3:00pm cake-walk. 4:00pm selling you what you already have!

...but that said...I'm weak for the MMZ...I'll take one please.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Ooooooooo!!!! Here's to hoping we get it in the States! Never got to play it. Emulators were pretty hard to play for me. And I didn't want to open my copy of Zero 4 that I brought a few months back.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I like this, but I'm also too "meh" with this announcement. When I saw it, I said "as long as they add new things, I'll buy it".

Strangely, I first had in mind that dreadful....ugh, dreadful DS port of MMBN1. Let's hope it doesn't turn out like THAT.

    Also...

THIS DOES NOT MEAN IN ANY WAY MEGAMAN ZERO 5 IS ON THE WORKS! HE DIED. GET OVER IT, YOU FOOLS!

...I just wanted to point that out juat in case ^^...

    ReplyDelete
  26. Oh, and I totally agree with MaverickHunterAsh's idea of putting Mega Man GB Collection in the Suggestion Box. I would totally vote for that if someone adds it.

    ReplyDelete
  27. If the music on the Zero Collection website is any indication, they are at least refining the BGMs to the DS standard.

All I need to play the game is just to know I can have fun with it. Doesn't matter if it's new or old, it's good games.

Yep, no series is truly dead in the Rock/Mega Man world. (Granted it's a collection and not a new game, but still.)
That being said, *sits and Wait's for MegaMan's Soccer 2: Electric Boogaloo*

Also, is it me or is capcom getting more abundent with rehashes? OSS, This, Pheoinix Wright Wiiware, SSF4 are all just slightly tweaked updates, it seems.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I might buy this if it's released in the US. I don't own the Zero games on GBA and having them as a single collection is good idea. I wish they would do the same thing with the Game Boy titles, but they're so unpopular I doubt it.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Seriously! I is UNKNOWN what happened to Zero! Honestly, I didn't even think he died when I first played it. With common sense, you can tell that nowhere have they ever confirmed Zero's death. In fact, in the Megaman Zero Official Complete Works, it SPECIFICALLY says that his "whereabouts are unknown". Notice how they never want to specifically say he's "dead"? It's probably so they can create a sequel if they ever wanted to later. I mean, Capcom is good with doing that, they create a large gap between series so that they could always make more of that series even when the other series has been made before it. For example, there is a 200 year gap between Zero and ZX. Anyway, this is great news! Even if it doesn't have much new things, just think. They're may be trying to get people interested in the Zero series again, possibly to decide to make a sequel. That's just my speculation, but I was surprised no one said anything about that yet.

  31. Taking bets now, who bet people are going to bitch if these are just ports? Besides the fact they're not being calling a remake, but a "collection" . Well atleast now the people who complain won't have any reason.
And by complain I mean "BAWW they didn't have anything extra BAWW!"
and not " Hmm, wished they had something extra, but oh well."

    ReplyDelete
  32. @MusahiAA

I've already added that myself, following MaverickHunterAsh's advice. All I need now is for people to cast their votes.

  33. I'm reaaally happy with Zero collection (especially with the new DSi LL) but I would prefer an Rockman Zero episode 1 2 3 4 on Wiiware with updated graphics and music from the Rockman Zero remastered tracks but hey ! It's better than a poor Battle Network port or a kwychains rockman for babies !

    ReplyDelete
  34. Actually im really happy with this. I'm pretty annoyed of the gba cartridge sticking out of my DS

    ReplyDelete
  35. This...has potential. Like, for new things, remastered music, full voice acting, etc. Will it live up to that potential? ...Probably not. :(

    ReplyDelete
  36. I just want them to clean up the graphics on par with the ZX series, but most importantly - arranged songs!

    ReplyDelete
  37. cool new!!! now i can dispose of the gba emulator to stick with the ds only LOL!!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Man, so happy for a ZERO revival not to mention the release date is on MY FREAKIN' BIRTHDAY!

    ReplyDelete
  39. For those clamoring for the MM GB collection, I already submitted a suggestion to the suggestion box. Last I looked, it was on the first page.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Hopefully it will keep some of the blood and other things that were removed? Maybe even use the bottom screen a bit? Lol, well at least I know I'm buying this first day if it comes out over here.

Please capcom, bring this to America and bring it soon! I think that capcom will and should add updated graphics and bonus unlockable material like with mm anniversary and x collection. They need to add like mission or time trial mode along with a music player to unlock the awesome mm music. Also they should add mm and bass to this.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Is that screenshot from the game?
Because I notice changes if it is.

    1. the rank and weapon icons are missing, and

    2. the door behind Zero and Ciel looks different.

And, Tayo? He died. get over the fanboyism and see the truth. the book you quote as saying unknown whereabouts also says "he was never seen again." Plus, he needs to be dead for ZX.

And if he survived such a battle of epic proportions, it would truly ruin the depth and grandness of his selfless sacrifice, and serve as an ending to his story. He, like X before him, were just remnants of a bygone war. Zero1-4 is the last remaining fighter from that war, FINALLY ending the war that started a century ago. Zero 4 is about him taking down Weil. both remnants of a war long past.

and Ill say this as many times as need be, NOTHING can survive atmospheric re-entry combined with terminal velocity like that. Not only did Weil and Ragnarok Blow up while Zero was still on it, and at the SOURCE of the explosion, but it entered the atmosphere at the same time, and its chunks hit the ground at terminal velocity enough to kill even sigma 3 times over. there is NO way he is surviving that.

Sorry for the rant guys. But I hate it when the fanboyism sets in and people outright deny that Zero died.

It appears to be from the game, yes:

  44. @Flame: The rank and weapon icons are missing because Zero didn't obtain any yet. It's the first mission from Zero 1.

    ReplyDelete
  45. That's no excuse.
He has both in the original. and he has the buster shot since being revived. He picks it up from the dead Milan.

Also, the lifebar is blue instead of yellow

    ReplyDelete
  46. @Flame: I'll say this one more time. NOTHING official has confirmed he DIED. Plus on your reasoning for ZX, there is a HUGE gap between the Zero and ZX. I didn't say that he won't eventually die or disappear, but there is plenty of time for Capcom to decide to do anything between then.

    ReplyDelete
  47. O_O OH HELL YES!!! I WANT THIS GAME!!!

I USE EMU AND THEY ARE HARD!!! I LIKE TO PLAY THE REAL DEAL!!! Oh and if they added more stuff. ((DON'T DISAPPOINT ME LIKE ON THE MMX COLLECTION)) I would still be happy. FEFNIR RULES!!! (Sorry I have to get that out of my system ^_^)
