Kotobukiya "Zero" Model Kits Delayed

Originally scheduled to be released this month, Kotobukiya announced today that both Zero model kits have been delayed due "various circumstances." The Normal Version will be released in September and the Nightmare Version will now be released in October.

This leave us with a packed end-of-the-year when it comes to model kits and figures, with Sentinel's Riobot Falcon Armor X figure coming in October and the "Rising Fire" X Model Kit slated for November.

Are you planning on buying any of these? Let us know in the comments!

  1. Not surprised...
Hopefully they fix some issues. They won't though.

    1. I really want us both to be wrong about this, yet my gut is telling me the same thing.
I'm going to build one of these to find out, but the quality lacking in the previous 3 kits is the reason I didn't immediately pre-order all these.

    2. I'm starting to agree with you... The more I study this rendition of Zero, the more I don't like it. I'm leaning towards NOT getting it in the hopes they re-tool this. There are just so many issues. I'd be happy if re-tooled parts were released as part of another kit. I just don't see that as happening. Not at this point.

  2. I was very ready for these, but I completely understand. I guess I bought my paint a bit too early, but oh well. Hopefully we get news on Fourth Armor and beyond in the meantime, just to see what's coming.

  3. I'm looking forward to adding the Zero Nightmare to my collection since I have some nostalgia for X6 in particular.
Luckily, my birthday is in October, so I should be able to weather the storm of getting both this kit and Sentinel's Falcon Armor X back-to-back.

  4. Hoping this is due to them tweaking the face shape and hollow hair, not just Covid-19.

    1. There are a lot of little details that don't look right.
The face is way to narrow when looking from the front
The hair, just all of it from hollow to the connection
The head jewel insert looks wrong against the plastic
The shoulder guards are curved and his hips have weird circles in them that is not in ANY artwork I've ever seen of Zero and wasn't on X. Why they added that, who knows. I guess it could be a connection for parts, but why redesign that?
I don't care too much about the Z nipples, but I know some don't like pegs.
Also, not sure why both Koto and Bandai have Zero's hands with his thumb on the hilt, outside of matching artwork. Prefer a standard fist like the one X had.
And this Zero actually will look a lot better with saber in hand. It off on his back.

Most of that is just nitpicking, but valid all the same. I'll still get them. Money depending.

  5. This is cool and all, but it really should have been a figure of Gyro Man.

  7. Are the "Capcom's cancelling everything" jokes still funny? No? Then, I have no business here~

    1. I'm pretty sure those jokes died when Mega Man 11 was officially announced.

  8. Hopefully these are delayed because Kotobukiya is improving upon their designs and manufacturing. I did not immediately pre-order all of these specifically because I was unimpressed with the quality of the new run of X kits; Max Armor, Hyper Chip, and Charge Shot kits all had various engineering issues and design choices which were not great. The regular X kit is the best of the bunch, but the rest has been downhill from there.

  9. Looks like Zero is about to cancel yet another figure line... called it!
