There Will Be No More Mega Man: Fully Charged Toys From Jakks Pacific

Here's a story that flew way, way under our radar. Speaking with Toy Hype USA in October 2019, Jakks Pacific SVP of Marketing Craig Drobis revealed that the company currently has no plans to produce addition Fully Charged figures. Mr. Drobis' full comment reads:

"At this point there are no additional waves in production.  This is one of my favorite lines at Jakks with how well all the figures came out.  Our design and development team did a great job on this line.  However, the Sales of the launch toys and waves haven’t justified us continuing on to the next waves at this time.  We do have the Mega Man X Megabuster which is new for this fall and should be coming to GameStop very soon. [note: it's available now] We are very excited about that addition and we will continue to develop game based Mega Man items going forward."

It's worth mentioning that we had a rough idea of what toys would have made up wave 2. Back in December 2018, Amazon posted listings for 6-inch Cut Man, Wood Man, Elec Man and Blaze Power Mega Man and 7-inch deluxe Guts Man, Fire Man and Sgt. Night. These and several more unnanounced figures (additional characters and playsets) will remain unreleased.

To date, Mega Man: Fully Charged's future as a brand at WildBrain (formerly DHX Media) remains uncertain. New episodes of the mini "toy play" show continue to be produced and published on the official Fully Charged YouTube channel. And that's about it.

Now, I do have *some* news to share on the hypothetical season 2 this week. It's neither good nor bad news... just interesting news. Stay tuned!

  2. I am not too surprised, considering that i hear more about this show from adults who are established Mega Man fans than from the kids to which the toys are targeted. It just did'nt get the kind of exposure that would lead to kids discovering it.

  3. It's a shame. Things like this make the Mega Man brand seem unprofitable to some investors and can affect the approval and/or size of the budget for future projects.

    1. Yeah, no.

We're talking about an offshoot toyline based on an offshoot TV series. Best not to give it too much attention.

  6. Mega Man: Fully Charged by itself is enough to cause brand dilution for the Mega Man brand in Capcom.

While it does have its own interesting takes on the classic series in its own universe, I am glad that the losses are cut before more were made. The fans are more interested in established iterations and meta-brands of Mega Man, so Fully Charged was going against an already uphill battle to make its presence relevant from the get-go.

So to the new fans who were introduced to the Mega Man series via Fully Charged? Perhaps they might find some hope in a possibly new season in the animated series and tie up potential loose plot ends. But if that doesn't come into fruition, then let this be a reminder that Capcom doesn't make misguided ventures like this again.

    1. Capcom did'nt make it, Man of Action did. Capcom involvement is basically just giving them the right to do so.
Also i don't think they where particularly aiming for the established fans, but rather for kids who are not already familiar with Megaman. But it did'nt get nearly good enough exposure to reach it's target audience, hence lackluster toyrs sales.
(Note that it does'nt mean i disagree with the rest of what you said, it would be better to go for a more faithful adaptation if they want to introduce new peoples to the franchise.)

  8. That's a shame... I wanted Fire Man, Elec Man, Wood Man, Hypno Woman, Blasto Woman, and Lord Obsidian figures. A life sized Mega Mini figure to go with the set would be cool too.

  9. Any toy that isn't reasonable for kids under three years must have a noticeable name expressing so. Pelúcias

  10. That's a shame. The show wasn't that great, but the toys are fantastic and well made. The roster also wasn't that big, so we should have gotten Fire Man, Elec Man, Wood Man, and Cut Man.

The lack of sales is also partly the Jaxx Pacific. There was no commercials, the toys were limited to overpriced online stores, and the prices were all over the place. At least they're cheap second hand. Maybe put your toys in stores Jaxx so kids and collectors can get at them? You've no problem doing it with your Pokémon and World of Nintendo lines.
