Kotobukiya Rockman X Series Model Kit News Roundup

We've got a triple dose of Kotobukiya Rockman X news today. First, Kotobukiya announced that the fourth model kit in their Rockman X line will be revealed next year at the Winter Wonder Festival on February 9th, 2020. No indication which character it will be so we're in for a little bit of a wait.

More news after the break!

Also revealed today, here's the final box art for the Max Armor and Max Armor Chip Version drawn by Keisuke Mizuno.

A new promotional image of the Max Armor model kit was released today as well (although the first two are old). These images will be used in promotional posters that will be distributed to stores around Japan. Have a look:

Kotobukiya was also keen to point out that they made a big effort in producing all of the different plastic colored parts that come inside the box. This way, you don't have to paint anything! Even those small parts that in other cases are left out in the most predominant color and you have to paint them yourself!

Finally, we have a clean view of the promotional materials for the Zero model kit that was shown this past week during the All Japan Model & Hobby Show.

Not much new here that we didn't report earlier. The Nightmare Version will be exclusive to the Kotobukiya's Online Store and will come with a set of two hair pieces: Nightmare color and the regular blonde color. Interestingly enough, the Kotobukiya's blog post didn't mention the release date or when the preorders will start. However, last week at the All Japan Model Hobby Show, they had this on display:

The first sign is for the Zero Nightmare Version. It says the release date is set for December and the price is 6,800 yen. The second sign is for the Regular Version and it says "release date undecided" and "price undecided". It's yet to be seen if this information is correct or not but, with the Max Armor Model Kits releasing in December, I think it suggest that pre-orders for the Zero Model Kits will begin in December as opposed to actually launching in December. We will keep you posted as soon as Kotobukiya clarifies this information.

So that's all for today! A fourth model kit... Is it finally time to get someone really new that isn't X or Zero? Axl? Sigma? Iris? Or perhaps it's just another version of Zero or another armor for X. Let us know what you think in the comments!

  1. Calling it right now, it's gonna be Ultimate Armor X. Special Edition will either be the X6 palette or the X Challenge palette.

  2. I don't see Kotobukiya making Sigma, so if it is not another X armor, it will probably be Axl.
I know many people don't want another X, but on the other hand i would'nt be all against a 4th armor X.

    1. No Sigma? Say it isn't so!

Well, at least there's the statue...

  3. Alia please! And let there be 5.

I like the model assembly. That's pretty good. We will still have to paint those little blue pieces on the buster. Those are just too tiny, nature of the beast.

It's pretty awesome we finally got some Gold Armor art.

    1. They're going to milk that Neutral armor. So no! I don't like where they milk a character and make it limited edition. I don't get it.

  5. It's black armor Zero

  6. Still hoping for obscure characters like Marty and the real main character of the series, RT-55J.

That being said, I wouldn't mind another X armor, Fourth, Second, and Glide come to mind. Vile mk2 and Bit would go well with the X3 armor as well.

Or just give us Axl with a White Axl alternate. That'll be fine, too.

  7. Bruh when we finally gonna get Vile MkV?

  8. I kind of wish it was a Maverick. Someone like Storm Eagle.

  9. I'm probably gonna get myself Hyper Armor X and Nightmare Zero at some point. With that said, enough with just the two of them already. Give us Axl, Vile, Sigma, Alia, Iris, Colonel... Some of the maverick bosses could also be cool, like Magma Dragoon, Neon Tiger, Blaze Heatnix... to name a few...

  10. I really want to see Axl. I'm tired of seeing 300 Xs and Zeros.

    1. Understandable. I don't think we've gotten an Axl since Jazwares.

  12. This is probably going to be either Axl or Alia. There's a small chance for Vile too.
I'm sure several of us would like the maverick bosses but that is not happening. Way too niche.
Personally i would love Axl, Alia or Iris.

  13. I would love if it were Axl.

Which means it's going to be UA X. Or Unlimited X. Or some other variety of X.
    Or MegaMan Zero.

  14. Guess we're stuck with the hollow hair unless we wanna mess around with making a back part, huh?

  15. Based on that pic it's definitely going to be easy to make a substitute 3D printed nozzle for the buster.

    1. I envy you for having such easy access to a 3D Printer. The only reason I had any experience was because my sister had access to the ones at the library in San Diego and I was visiting her at the time.

  16. If they're going to (probably) make another X armor, they should always announce a new character in conjunction.

    New characters, I want Sigma.

  17. The only characters that require new models AND have alternate palettes are Ultimate Armor X and Axl.

  18. I'm hoping for Vile next, but I'm guessing they'll probably go with Ultimate Armor X next instead.

  19. My wish list:
    1: 4th
    2: shadow
    3: falcon

  21. I hope it turns out to be Vile mk II from X3 to go with the Max Armor kit, I had the 90's Vile model kit as a kid but would love a updated version.

  22. I hope it is Vile mk II or Vajurilla FF (Bit) if only so we can be that much closer to having a completed set of updated versions of the X3 Mega Armor series. And I love Megaman X3, so it is always cool to see it get some love.

I'm also not against Iris or Alia.
