New Images of Kotobukiya "Polarized" Mega Man X Model Kit

Earlier this month we reported that Kotobukiya were planning to release a limited edition "Polarized" variant of their upcoming Mega Man X model kit. Today, Kotobukiya have rolled out a whole bunch of images and additional details. Check it out after the jump!

Although it might be difficult to tell from these images, this kit is designed to give the impression that X is charging up his buster. The light hits the kit in a way that changes its appearance from purple to green. The kit will also ship with a unique buster shot effect part. This variant is due to release in September for 6,600 Yen ($60) exclusively through Kotobukiya. There's no word on a U.S release.

  3. cool. But, I'll wait to see what people say about the kit itself before anything. 1000toys dante is going dent me enough anyway.

  5. I'm really tempted to get this on top of the regular release, but something limited like this I might not want to open.

From what screen shots you've shared, it looks like this is gonna be a clean build requiring almost no painting. I doubt that will carry over to the X3 Armor.
I hope not. I am hoping these look good without paint.

    1. Koto kits tend to have a lot more color separation than Bandai kits, so I'm very confident it will look fine so long as you're careful with the nubs.

    2. I have some Koto Super Robot Wars kits, they did require some painting. The Alteisen Reise was pretty close, but still some painting was required. The Regular Alteisen was WAY required. That is the purpose of models after all, to build them. The best kits I've found so far that require next to no painting on the cheap is Real Grade (RG) Gundams unless you really nitpick details. Those look fantastic with no paint.

The only thing I can see that needs paint on X here is the shoulder black flex bar. The elbow is molded in black, the shoulder in blue.
