Kotobukiya Announces New Line of Rockman X Model Kits!

Some days ago we speculated that Kotobukiya would be reviving their Rockman model kit line based on a cryptic countdown. It turns out we were right! (not that it was too hard to figure out).

Kotobukiya have officially confirmed that they are developing new Rockman model kits based on the X series characters. The first model kit will be the original Irregular Hunter himself – X. X will be introduced to the world during the Winter Wonder Festival 2019, which takes place on February 10th, 2019.

Also on that day, Kotobukiya are planning to hold a talk show to discuss this new model kit line and the 25th anniversary of Rockman X in general. More news on this front soon – hang tight!

  1. Well, they already made MMZ zero and ended the line, so I wonder what it'll die on this time.

My money is on Axl ending it this time

    1. How did the line end if it is continuing right now. I don't get the logic.

    2. This is pretty much a new one.

They stopped making mega man ones for years.

And they didn't touch the X series.

And they already made an MMZ model, so this run on mega man X models can't end with him

    1. That would be so sweet. I probably won't buy another X/Zero/Sigma but I would buy a Maverick figure.

    2. @Hypercoyote: Double ditto to that! I want figures of so many of the animaloid bosses, I'd probably dedicate an entire shelf just for them. By the way, your username would be perfect for a Maverick boss. ; D

  3. Anoooooooooooooooother...

How about some mavericks instead or something... like... Another Blue X? Ok, cool, but, ugh, cmon.

    1. Yeah I agree, let's hope they make something more than X, Zero and Sigma.

    2. Completely agree with you, Furanshi. I bet the only reason they haven't made them at all is because Japan has this anti-humanoid animal attitude. If it doesn't look human, it's "ugly" to them and has to be killed off as a result (like they do in a lot of anime).

    3. Sigma? That's a tall order, we rarely get sigma!

Usually it's 3 versions each of X and Zero

    4. We don't have a poseable non-SD Sigma yet. The statue is nifty but I want a little more interaction with my figures.

  4. Hope this means they'll continue re-issuing the classic-series kits too.
Really hate how they get jacked up in price every year post-release.

    1. Look around, there are some cheap ones floating around

    2. Where I see them, they're still up at 50-60 USD when they used to retail for 35 or so.
That sucks when you need multiple kits. I want to kitbash some robot masters, dammit!

In other words, it wasn't hard to put 2 and 2 together?

I'm hoping for some girls, though that may be unlikely.

  8. Kotobukiya makes these non-scale LED lit swords for their models.
If they do a Zero, they need to put one in.
    Make it happen!

    1. Yep, Modeling Support Goods, or MSG! They're fairly inexpensive, too; I think in Japan they're less than ¥500, which is under $5 USD.

These are actually to-scale with a D-Arts line of Mega Man X figures, as I have the red, blue and green versions and have tried them out; Zero can hold the MSG sword in his fist with no problem, and the included MSG blades are basically the same length as his D-Arts blades.

When Amazon had the FiguartsZERO Sigma on clearance I bought an extra one so I could drill-out his right hand, hollow-out the saber hilt, insert MSG sword, and put it in his hand. It looks pretty good! Someday I'll do a dimly-lit photo shoot of Zero vs. Sigma with these equipped...

      Great idea!

    2. I actually bought one to use on a custom model I am working on. They are pretty cool.
It would be even BETTER if they had lights in the heads, busters and where applicable. At lease make light piping possible.

I really am looking forward to more info on this line. I like to make custom X models based on the Mega Armor line. I want to make even more! Time and money permitting -_-
I post some of my work here: https://www.shapeways.com/designer/shrap_x/creations

I'm hoping for an Alia. I just want a model of Alia. Even if I have to make one myself.

    2. Where have you seen Axl? Aside from jazware (we don't talk about those figures) and the mini-X8 statues, he's got nothing

  12. My kingdom for a Neon Tiger and Slash Beast figure. =( I'm so tired of the typical X characters getting figures.

    1. Agreed. There are enough figures of X and Zero. It's time for the bosses to get the spotlight.

  13. I hope an Axl Model Kit, he didn't get a D-arts figure :(
